  1. Agreed. A couple points to make: 1) If you sell picks this year that results in 2025 picks, you also have extra ammo at the deadline to add veterans for a stretch run. The Eagles did this again this year for Byrd. 2) While we have Sam on the cheap for the next two years, I would like to make veterans on minimum or cheap contracts a greater percentage of the depth than guys on rookie contracts in 2024. Why? We can afford it and having cheap vets like Larsen and Danny Johnson as depth allows them to step in and do more than a guy on a rookie deal. Second, if you move some of the 2024 picks for picks that ultimately hit in 2025 and 2026, you get the guys on rookie contracts just starting their contracts when Sam starts to become more expensive and you are in greater need of cheap production
  2. I think the Patriot Way works only if BB is at the head of the table and, even then, it is starting to break down. Public tiffs with Mac Jones and guys like Jack Jones and JC Jackson being undisciplined show that
  3. It marries to a quote I saw that his biggest strength is he doesnโ€™t think he knows anything and is very open to listening to ideas. It is going to be a dogfight to get him and the advantage we have over the Chargers is a better owner, BJ is an ex UNC QB (so there may already be a relationship with Sam) and BJ is from Asheville (1 hour flight from Dulles) He being Zorn level bad is a stretch. He has achieved way more as a coach than Zorn could ever dream. The window we have gotten into his staff building shows he is willing to hire young smart guys he has not worked with before like Pritchard. That being said, I would be way more excited about Ben Johnson and a few others
  4. I am with you. Iโ€™d rather take Ben Johnson any day over BB. The other thing with BB is I think he would bring a strong coaching staff with him but there is no successor I would take out of that group - at his age, he has a few years left in him max
  5. I may only do it if he has zero personnel control and he brings McDaniels with him as OC. At least we know Bill can run a good defense without needing a ton of resources
  6. Part of me is kind of hoping for this, also because I don't want the Giants getting their hands on Williams or Maye
  7. My guess is, because he is the only legitimate starting linebacker we have, they need him handling linebacker responsibilities and don't have the ability to blitz him much
  8. He is 6-3 and has about 34.5" inch arms, which are legitimate NFL tackle arms. He sucked in 2021 and got benched before having a strong 2022. Need to dig into why that happened (did he just figure it out or was it schematic?) and how he can fit cleanly here. I think he is going to be cheaper than Jonah Williams who I am not interested in
  9. The Shanahans did this too here. They focused on hiring young bright coaches who would bring their perspective and challenge them vs being yes men, hence why that staff makes up 20% of all HC jobs in the league today
  10. I agree with most of this. He is coming off a season he just had a top 10 defense in. He is not a dinosaur - what he has done is provide ****ty input to his personnel people because I think he has a big say in who we draft and sign in free agency (Forbes and Martin as examples) and hire ****ty position coaches under him. He has made his own bed and he needs to go. I know the Giants are struggling this year but one thing I admire about Daboll is that he was willing to hire a bunch of assistant coaches he had never worked with before like Kafka, Wink, etc. His goal was to pull together a staff of some of the sharpest minds. I hope the next HC is willing to do the same thing vs hire a bunch of cronies like his son's high school coach like JDR did with Visselmeyer
  11. Does anyone understand the system Ben Johnson runs? He has worked under a number of offensive minds from different backgrounds. Tough to obviously pin him down
  12. What Sheehan and Keim pointed out is that they started with the zone match scheme and have paused that for the most part because the players were not picking it up. They are apparently playing a lot of man now
  13. Because there is no one else who can take over for him. This is possibly the worst set of defensive coaches we've had during my time following this team as a fan and that includes the Shanahan and Gruden defenses. We plucked our DB coach from the high school ranks, our DL coach was plucked off the scrap heap as an assistant DL coach after being out of football for a year and our LB coach probably has the most legit background of any of these guys as a coach but he is a guy who spent 2 years in the NFL before coming here.
  14. No thank you to Belichick. It feels like Tampa is a lot more likely anyway given the Jason Licht connection. Still a solid roster there still even though it is aging. Maybe Bill can attract Kirk to come there
  15. Please please please He was very promising as a rookie before fading a bit. He's a more traditional third down back than Gibson and could potentially serve in that role next year.
  16. I donโ€™t think so. Fitzmagic struggled with picking up Turnerโ€™s offense and I donโ€™t think he got along with Ron
  17. Also it is not just anybody replacing Dorsey, it is Joe Brady who was the hottest assistant coach in football a few years ago and was headed on that McVay sort of trajectory before he bombed in Carolina. This is a great opportunity for him to finish this season strong, have another strong season next year and then land a HC gig in the 2025 offseason. We don't have anyone remotely close to Brady to replace JDR
  18. Tampa had another model during the stint with Brady where they really didn't have an omega weapon. They were just stacked everywhere with guys that fell just underneath the elite category. Evans, Godwin and an older AB at receiver Gronk and Brate at TE (people forget Brate was killing it before Gronk got there) Fournette at RB We could try to do the same thing this offseason assuming we can fix the line also.
  19. I know some here are fine with the new GM doing whatever he wants at QB but it is almost an elimination question for me with a new GM if they want to move on from Howell. Moving on from Howell also affects who you can get for HC. Howell is going to be a major selling point for a coach, not just because of what he is showing so far but also intangibles like coachability
  20. With Peters, he would pair well with Slowik Jr given the two worked with each other for years in SF. He and Ben Johnson also share a common connection in Adam Gase. Gase was OC in Denver while Peters was there and Johnson was on Gaseโ€™s staff in Miami. A FO that does not get talked about at all that we should be looking at is Tampaโ€™s. They built a strong loaded roster before Brady got there and just needed the QB to show what it was capable of. They have faded a little but but their 2018-2020 drafts were awesome
  21. We need impact players. Filling our depth with Day 3 picks hasnโ€™t done much for us. I am fine with being aggressive and trading up for guys who can make an impact and have a chance to become a top 5 player at their position. Fill the depth with veterans who come free for the minumum like Crowder if needed. Name a single guy we have who is top 5 at their position besides Tress. I wouldโ€™ve said Jon Allen but he has regressed this season. On the other hand, look at SF. Trent, Kittle, Warner, Hufanga, McCaffrey and Bosa all fit that bill The Eagles have Kelce, Lane Johnson, Hurts and Brown at a minimum. I would count Jalen Carter as well. We need to find a way to scratch and claw our way to at least 3 All Pros next year and build on that. It is why I am pushing hard for Danielle Hunter but also why I am willing to move up in the draft or trade picks for guys that can achieve this in short order
  22. There isn't going to be a shortage of quality DCs. Frazier is already out there. Eberfluss and Staley will be out there as well at the end of the season. Dennis Allen and Todd Bowles could both be out there as well.
  23. I disagree with you regarding the 3rd round, especially the back half. It is hard to find Day 1 starters at any position there. For interior OLs taken in the back half of day 3, 2023- Stromberg was the only guy 2022 - Dylan Parham was a Day 1 starter but he was below average, Sean Rhyan is a backup and Logan Bruss got cut before the starter of the season 2021 - Wyatt Davis is a backup, Kendrick Green got shipped out before the season for sucking, Ben Cleveland sits on the bench and Quinn Meinerz is a stud So, you have 1 stud, 1 average starter and a bunch of backups. I would trade that comp pick we got for Chase and use that as a means of moving up in the 1st or 2nd if there is a player the new FO wants and needs to move up.
