  1. Paul is such an underachiever. He has the requisite physical tools needed to be a fulltime starter and, in terms of raw intelligence, he is up there with James Smith Williams on the team. Going through this with him makes me also want to avoid his brother in the draft. He is a dude who gets cut and may make it on a PS next year
  2. The upside about there being 7-10 HC openings is that most of the previous staffs are going to be let go, which also means there are going to be a number of great DC candidates and rising position coaches under them. For DCs, off the top of my head, you are going to have Dennis Allen, Leslie Frazier, Eberfluss, Evero and Staley available at a minimum and you may also have McDermott and Saleh. Lot there to choose from. These guys also mostly have strong defensive position coaches currently working for them.
  3. Outside of Tress, BRob and Sam are our best shots at Pro Bowlers. BRob has arguably been the second best back in the NFC this year and what that Tweet leaves out is he is top 3 I believe in TDs. Sam could get in as an alternate after Purdy, Prescott, Hurts and Goff. He has legitimately been the 5th best QB in the NFC this year
  4. I remember that JAX was maligned in the 2022 offseason for paying Oluokon and Kirk big $ but both guys stepped their games up after coming to JAX
  5. Cunningham has some good talking bits but the draft results and philosophy stink (look at how many picks this past year were on the defensive side of the ball) for the Bears and the way they spent in FA this past season was idiotic too (paying Edmunds the money they paid him). It’s cool that he has been with the Eagles and Ravens but he was a junior guy/mid level exec until he got to Chicago so not sure how much credit we can give him
  6. Yep. As I’ve been saying, Chase is likely signing a bunch of 1 year deals until the end of his career kind of like Clowney has due to his knee. The condition of his knee definitely played a role in his 5th year option not being picked up as that is guaranteed for injury
  7. I disagree with many on Leno. He is not great and he doesn’t suck. There are certain matchups he will struggle with like Thibodeaux but he has been solid overall. I think he looks even better playing next to a veteran guard who knows how to handle stunts (like he did in 2021 playing next to Flowers). I am ok with taking 2 tackles but I am ok with letting the round 2 guy sit and learn behind Leno as Leno plays out the final year of his deal (which is $7M or so in net cost to us when you factor for cap savings if you cut him)
  8. Given the veiled shot he took at Wink, I don’t think the Giants are bringing McKinney back either. We have inhouse options at SS/buffalo nickel. We need an upgrade at FS
  9. To his credit, he took a Tyrod Taylor QBed team to the playoffs before Allen got there. He is a heck of a coach but I would rather stick with an offensive minded guy
  10. Agreed. I want a stud at center who can truly anchor the rest of the line and help Sam out. Free agent centers are not particularly expensive either
  11. We have PTSD because we had idiot DCs and a lack of talent. We are actually as equipped for a 3-4 as a 4-3 moving forward. The “cinco package” is basically a 3-4
  12. I love Luvu. He is one of the three guys I've been advocating for hard to get in FA assuming schematic fit (the others being Hunter and Evans). This is his second Pro Bowl caliber year in a row and he is a hell of a run defender and pass rusher. If we end up going to a 3-4 next year, he'd be a fantastic ILB. Dude is a blue chip pickup in the right scheme I hope Stromberg can become a contributor but I would absolutely bring in strong competition for him, whether it be FA or the draft.
  13. It’s interesting that, for so many here, Cunningham and Weidl are the top guys. Roll out the carpet for Peters, the guy the 9ers are doing org chart gymnastics to try to keep. I think of him as a rich man’s McCloughan - a great eye for talent combined with amazing people skills and relationships across the NFL and with agents. You know too, that with the 9ers, he probably embraces analytics too to a certain level. Finally, having him in place allows us to go after strong talent currently or formerly with the 9ers for both the FO and coaching staff - if Ben Johnson doesn’t come here, think Slowik as HC with Saleh as DC potentially
  14. The point of Bowers at least being a threat as a blocker is 1) it is less of a giveaway of what we are going to do when he is on the field and 2) a big reason our run game is not very good is because our receivers and TEs can’t block (Gruden keeps calling this out). As great as Kittle and Kelce are as receivers, both guys are also fantastic blockers
  15. Morgan was coming off his best season in years in 2020 when Ron cut him that offseason. Letting an above average starting tackle on a bargain contract go is absolutely unforgivable. I am more pissed about this move vs. Ron trading Trent (he was backed into a corner) and letting Scherff go (which was the right move). Cutting Moses was a completely unforced error
  16. I hope we don't take an off ball backer in round 2. The expectation would be that they end up starting right away and the majority of rookie off ball linebackers end up sucking in year 1. I'd rather have Jamin and a good veteran FA man the position and take a couple guys in Day 3 to groom as depth and to potentially take over a starting job in 2025 is Jamin doesn't come back
  17. Yep. I feel good penciling him in next year as a solid rotational guy
  18. Chop seems like a poor man’s Chase Young. The rest of these guys seem like rotational types. Fortunately, FA is very deep with EDGE types If KDawg’s assertion that Jamin can play 3-4 OLB is correct, that leaves us needing to fill another EDGE role and find 2 starting caliber ILBs. I’d rather take on the challenge of finding 2 starters at ILB. If we go 4-3, we need 2 EDGE starters and at least one 1 ILB starter. Give me the challenge of finding a ILB starter over an EDGE starter
  19. I also want to see Payne not having to deal with double teams and use his tremendous athleticism to take on single blockers and rush the passer. That was a flaw of the 3-4 the last go around
  20. I think we need to find that elite EDGE player, a green dot LB and a FS who can lead the secondary but we are all forgetting that this D was a top 10 D a year ago. The only guys playing better this year vs last year are Fuller (longtime vet in a contract year) and Davis (he was horrible first quarter of 2022). Everyone else has regressed and, in the cases of BSJ, Allen, Payne, Curl and Forrest, they have regressed hard With a competent DC and position coaches and some talent upgrades, I think we can get back to respectability next year and at least be average
  21. This is why I am not super excited about Fashanu. If I am drafting a top 10 guy, I want an elite guy and I don’t think Fashanu is it due to the average run blocking
  22. The first one happened before the Bengals were able to make the pick and second one has now happened after the Bengals made a big investment in the OL and brought in Orlando Brown Jr so you tell me…
  23. You are effectively arguing that the Bengals were idiots for drafting Chase after already having Higgins and Boyd without a great offensive line.
