YEAH

I STOPPED THAT BALL I'M THE MAN

*ball creeps into net*

I may be very wrong on this. It looks like a penalty kick and I think once the goalie stops it, it is a dead ball. We don't hear if the ref blows a whistle, but it still looks funny.

Nah penalty kick is a live ball once its kicked. I know this from years of soccer where I kicked many as well as face many PKs. One of my goalies almost gave up a goal cuz they didn't know it was live ball either. lol

clearly the goalie didn't STOP it, he just slowed it down considerably (its not as though the opponent kicked the ball again once it was "stopped")

he stopped it in that it was moving the other direction, but it had a spin on it so when it hit the ground it was moving towards the net again.

that is NOT stopping it... that is "slowing it down". No other contact from teh other team was needed to put it in the goal--- gol !!

I didn't say it shouldn't be a goal, just that ball had a velocity of 0 or less at one point after making contact with the goalie. It still had energy stored in it in the form of rotation, but it wasn't turned into kinetic energy in the form of forward motion until after it hit the ground and started moving forward again. So yes, he did stop it... temporarily.
