Can we officially call this the end of the Dan Snyder era?

It seems that now every one wants to play for us. We went from the worst team to play for, to the now golden destination...

Don"t know what it'll produce on the field next year, but this sure looks interesting.

One word, COMPETITION!

You're going to see guys flying around with their hair on fire and a coaching staff and FO that coaches players up and also holds them accountable.  You produce, reward.  Loaf, there's the door.  Guys are breaking the door down to get to the nation's capital, so players NOW know, they are indeed replaceable.  And this defense is player friendly which equates to a big payday, whether in Washington or around the league.  Plus, money is being pumped into the stadium and player facilities.  We're basically an expansion team with respected football minds.

Question is still Kingsbury, the rookie QB (& LT), and the offense.  Hopefully, both Daniels and Maye are both franchise QBs so whichever we choose, will be the legit face of the franchise.

Man, that Wagner signing has me feeling all types of irrational optimism now. That's huge that a guy like that wants to play for us. Even on a one year deal. This could be his retirement tour and he chose us. That's just incredible.

So maybe this has been discussed here already but I was HYPED when I first saw the news too, but I also was hyped when we signed Thomas Davis to a 1 year deal too and that fell flat on its face.  Part of my feels like if Wagner had huge value the way I originally felt there would've been a line of 28 other teams wanting to sign him.

I don’t really see the need for a WR in FA or it being pressing

Dotson/Mclaurin/Ekeler//Robinson is a lot of veteran support amoung others for a rookie QB

I think shoring up the secondary is more pressing if there are any further FA signings

I’ve maintained that we needed at least a capable vet added, framing that guy as a Pringle/Crowder type… so I’m right there with you, particularly with the depth of the wr draft class.  I do get the appeal of adding a good x or z though.

To me, our current needs are something like this:

Tier 1: LT

Tier 2: corner, TE

Tier 3: DE (a plus pass rusher), FS, outside receiver, RT/swing tackle, LG

Tier 4:  depth at linebacker, wr, oline, and corner

Entire CB draft class was loaded and we got the one guy who looked like a tomato can(at least as a rookie). And we completely ignored TE which was also loaded.

Just awful awful awful.

Just worth noting:

2020: Took Chase Young over fixing QB

2021: Took project LB, over better LB (JOK), plenty of other options people loved, QB, and trading down for LB

2022: Reached for undersized, guaranteed never going to be an alpha dog #1 WR

2023: Ignored top 4-6 rated Gonzalez, targeted system fit CB for a DC who was already halfway out on the plank.

He butchered the first round every single draft he was here for. Every single one. Wasn't much better on day 2 either. That, as much as anything, is why he's gone. You cannot blow first rounders for an entire half decade and retain your gig unless your Charley Casserly in the 1990s.

I made a comment in another post something to the affect that Peters was taking to classroom FA and showing how it's done in NFL Free Agency.  Kay makes that statement and it's so true.  We are fortunate to have Peters and Co., Quinn and of course ownership as we do.  Great things lie ahead!

I am a bit surprised Fuller hasn't found a team. He's a reliable solid starting CB and isn't super old and played fairly well last year(considering our coaching).

Agree.  He got put on IR in January with a knee issue.  That may be it.

Exactly. Josh Reynolds is a jag, I’d be disappointed if he’s really being targeted.

The best way to sum it up would be to say that the guy was a draft and stash, and pick up off waiver and stash guy in dynasty ff circa 2017-2021, and literally nobody on the planet has rostered him for more than a few weeks at a time the last 2-3 dynasty ff seasons. If he's stuck on the waiver wire perpetually, it's for a reason. All of us know he was talented enough to make rosters the last 7 years as a #4 to #5 WR, and periodically break into a part time #3 role, but he's never hit. The positive for him, is that since 2020, he's found a role, as a #4 with spot starts as a #3, enough to give a team typically 40-50 catches a season. Does he move the needle? Nope, but he can play adequately as a 4, and an emergency 3 in a pinch, but there's no ceiling there, just a moderate floor.

I can understand why we might sign him. It's spackle like so many of the signings, it really looks like Peters and the rest are trying to fill in the holes with short term contracts while they try to rebuild the core with 2 to 3 drafts so they can contend starting in '26 if they hit on QB this year. That really looks like the plan, this offseason sets a floor, next offseason makes us .500+ maybe, and in '26 we fight for the playoffs, giving some of these guys extensions, but preferably having found their replacements in the '24, '25 and '26 draft classes.

The way AJ Brown totally dominated Forbes with physicality was glaring. It was a man against a boy.

Brown is capable of doing that to about 95% of the corners in the league. What bothered me more is that everybody was killing the guy, not just alpha dog top 3-5 WR's in the league.

I don’t think that is anywhere near the plan. I’d suggest we’re fast tracking a bit more than that.

Starters from the 2023 season who would seemingly still be starters (including specialists)

Offense:

QB: None

RB: Robinson (Ekeler is a 3rd down guy.)

WR: Terry McClaurin.  Most likely Dotson.

TE: None

OL: Cosmi.  Maybe Wylie.

Defense:
DL: Jon Allen, Daron Payne

LB: Davis?  (They signed every LB in FA, so maybe he won't start.  But I think he will.)

Safety: Quan Martin ** Maybe Forest, he was hurt most of the year.

CB: Complete unknown.  St. Juste and Forbes are still here.  Fuller is gone.  Have to see how the rest of FA and draft play out.  Right now St. Juste and Forbes start because there's nobody else.

Punter: Tress Way

Snapper: None

Kicker: None

If you include the "maybe" and "?" people, that's 12 starters out of ~29 total starers, if you count 23 starters on defense for the nickel corner and 23 on offense for WR/TE.

If you eliminate the "maybe" folks (Dotson, Wylie, Davis, St. Juste and Forbes), that's 6! definite starters returning to start.  Of which only 1 was drafted by Ron.

Basically, "Ron you done ****ed up the roster" is what Peters is saying out loud without saying it out loud.

Thing I like most about this is huge roster turnover is its not close to over yet.

No matter what else we do in free agency, we still have 9 picks in this coming draft, 5 in the first three rounds.

Plugging this many holes in free agency really does help with doing BPA instead of drafting for need.

And this is jus one offseason...
