AI does amazingly realistic things, and is getting better every day. Now I am not sure if this guy did do this unbelievably stupid thing. He might have. But I AM sure that you can't trust your eyes and ears as much as you could just 5 years ago. And I AM sure you can't trust the GOP or any of it's followers, especially given the laundry list of fakes and dirty tricks they have done since going full on insane about 20 yrs ago. SO color me skeptical. And this skepticism should be applied to ALL things now, especially that which you don't actually see with your own eyes. It sounds 'conspiracy crazy" but when the reality of deep-fakes and audio manipulation what it is now, nothing should be taken at 'face value'. Especially something so politically charged and 'leaked' only to media outlets that has judgments of fraud against them, and has gone on the witness stand time and again and admitted no one should believe what they say. He's leaving too much wiggle room... It's also damn hard to create a believable deep fake video (images are another story lol)...the original source video would have to be incredibly well-lit and well-produced to have any chance of a believable fake, and the faces of the people in the video would need to be sharp and in multiple angles, along with having access to numerous sharp photos of the person you're wanting to fake. The original video would also have to have been shot in the Senate hearing room, or else the entire ruse falls apart--it would be incredibly easy to determine if the location in the video was not in the Senate.
