Curious how long it takes the jury to come back with whatever they decide.

According to WTOP, closing arguments should be Tuesday. And jury instructions Wednesday. Judge already said he didn’t want trial Friday and they don’t think there’s smooth time to do things this week.

Key Trump Witness Confirms Damning Hush Money Emails

A string of emails sent by attorney Robert Costello appear to have undercut the witness’s credibility just moments before Donald Trump’s first criminal trial concluded for the day.

Costello had previously represented Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, and had allegedly offered a backchannel mode of communication between the former president and his former fixer (and current star defense witness) Michael Cohen in 2018.

But on Tuesday, the former federal prosecutor got caught up in a web of his own making and was forced to admit to mob-like tactics that undercut the defense’s core argument.

In one message from that year, Costello complained to his law partner Jeff Citron that Cohen was not cooperating, believing instead that Cohen was “slow playing us and the president.”

“What should I say to this asshole?” Costello wrote. “He’s playing with the most powerful man on the planet.”

“This email speaks for itself?” asked prosecutor Susan Hoffinger.

“Yes, it does,” Costello told the court.

“You lost control of Michael Cohen?” Hoffinger continued.

“Absolutely not,” Costello replied.

In another 2018 message between Costello and Citron, the Giuliani attorney wrote that “our issue is to get Cohen on the right page without giving the appearance that we are following instructions from Giuliani or the President.”

“We must reverse the Avenatti effect and restore this to a far more simple investigation of things that while they might not look good politically and nevertheless legal,” the message continued, referring to Michael Avenetti, a since disgraced attorney who represented Stormy Daniels, the former adult film actress that Trump is being accuses of paying hush money to in 2016.

The emails clearly show the extraordinary lengths that Trump and his aides used to try to silence Cohen—and suggest that they were engaged in a cover-up.

How are we feelings in terms of odds of conviction? I’m seeing a lot of doubt online.

I think a hung jury has had the biggest chances since even before this begun. Hard to think there isn't one person on that jury who won't budge from saying he's guilty, and the same for someone who felt before this started that regardless, they'd vote not-guilty.

I still don't know what the defense is. They deny he had sex with Daniels. But also it isn't that his money in the end paid her off. But he didn't know about the payments....and the accounting gymnastics shown to the jury were just......done without him having anything to do with it?

I'm a bit skeptical of a full conviction myself, but Costello's emails don't help his defense. It's absurd to believe all these people did things without tRump's knowledge or approval, all in the name of protecting him...and that if tRump knew he would be SHOCKED!!🤨

It's the same with the mafia defense: how can you believe the witnesses who were former mobsters themselves and told lies? Well, circumstantial evidence piles up and mafia bosses were convicted on that, even though they tried the same "I had no idea what these wiseguys were doing" defense.

If this jury is competent, they will see through the defense and convict...but that's only if there isn't some deluded MAGA troll on the jury.

Been expecting a hung jury all along, based on the (cynical or rationally justified) likelihood of x number of magas deciding they would try to plant themselves in camo and one of them pulling it off.

And of course trump world will wield any acquittal like a cudgel on his other cases.

"Witch Hunts!!!"

If he's convicted, his supporters will cry that our justice system is corrupt for convicting him.

If he's acquitted, his supporters will cry that our justice system is corrupt for trying to convict him.

We can't win.

Just read an article that said only 6% of trials end in a hung jury. For me, it's hard to predict based on what I've read. Without seeing the jury reactions to questions, answers & court antics it's impossible for me to decide. This should have been televised.

That's neat. How'd you do that?

I'd like to know as well.

Also, I'm not worried about a conviction, good chance of getting that, I'm more worried about sentencing. Trump has a better chance of receiving a lifetime ban from Sizzler than ever going to jail.

I'm also thinking of the chance of the jury not convicting, based on the nature of the charge.

I mean, I think he's accused of

1) Having sex with a porn star.

2)  Paying her to keep quiet about it.

3)  And trying to not have a money trail.

Out of all the things Trump has done, they're wanting a criminal conviction for this?

Funny how everyone who ever worked for Trump or works for him now turns into a petulant child, like Giuliani, Navarro, Bannon, etc.

When you don’t have facts, logic, or ethics, belligerence is one of the few tools left at your disposal.

Trump Adviser Scanned and Saved Contents of Box That Had Classified Docs: Report

An unnamed witness, reportedly an adviser to Donald Trump, scanned the contents of a box that had contained classified documents, and saved those digital files to her laptop, which belongs to a political action committee which pays Donald Trump’s legal expenses.

The stunning revelation was tucked away in the footnote of an 87-page court document unsealed by U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell on Tuesday, in response to a separate filing in which Trump’s attorneys are claiming prosecutorial misconduct, according to Politico’s Kyle Cheney who reported the details.

The filing revealed that at least four more classified documents had been found at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and resort, in his bedroom, even after FBI agents executed and completed a search warrant months earlier, in August of 2022.

Judge Howell, Politico reports, “noted that [a] Trump adviser connected to his Save America PAC had acknowledged scanning the contents of the box that contained the classified materials in 2021 and storing them on a personal laptop provided by the PAC.”

But, by all means, indefinitely delay Trump's trial for stealing these documents.   The failure of our criminal justice system with regard to holding Trump accountable is criminal.
