I really hope not....maybe Dan still has some magic up his sleeve to wine and dine and impress the free agent pool.

Dan never had any magic. He'd bring in the biggest name without regard to how they fit into our scheme or the player's motivation level and then offer them a monster contract. The agent would say that's not enough and Dan would keep bidding against himself, going higher and higher until the guy would sign and then he'd never play hard for us because anybody signing here was only doing it for that giant pay day and certainly not because they wanted to play for the best organization or actually win football games.

There's zero excuse for this organization not to pursue Wagner.  He's tailor-made for us.  No excuses.

Maybe they can make it clear to the media how desperate we are for one and then look like ****es when they pass on us. First it was Amari, then Piano Man, Wilson...

Pathetic.

Most of you guys acknowledge how sad we are as an organization, everything from our owner to the constant drama, headlines for the wrong reason, history of being losers, terrible facilities, crap stadium, dead fanbase, etc. etc.

Yet for whatever reason you expect Rivera and the gang to be able to sell this as a winning destination to some of the most coveted players in the league.

You're obviously underestimating our cool, new name, logo and uniforms. How can he possibly resist?

Who doesn't love the Commies in Red in 2022? Any publicity is good publicity!

Breaking: Free Agency is cancelled in Washington due to a horrible trade taking up 84.5% of available cap space.

PS- they still need a QB.

We can easily free up 30m by releasing and resigning players, we can get 13m just by releasing Collins as a june cut. Re-sign Flowers to a multiyear deal which could save another 6/7m. Payne if we're re-signing could save another 6m. Releasing Loannidis saves us nearly 8m, and we could then resign Settle with a small 2022 cap hit.

There you go I've gain 33m to spend on re-signing our free agents and other team as well.

More times then not is isn't about not being able to afford a player.  Most GM's have a team of wizards running the books that know how to work contracts and shift around money in order to make things happen.   A player like Wagner is going to get paid well regardless of where he lands and he knows it.  I am assuming that at his age and stage in his career he is looking to win more championships before riding off into the sunset.

He's only got a few years left of top performance. He's probably going to a contender not a floundering organization trying to reboot.

I don't think this is necessarily true. London Fletcher came to the Skins at 32 and gave us 7 good years of play. I'm not going to necessarily assume Wagner will be quite as long lasting, but I'd assume he still has 5 years of top level play left in him.
