Maybe instead of trading the one legitimate NFL caliber offensive weapon this team has, based on some pipedream that draft picks will one day develop, they should resign that weapon.

Then again, Terry leaving would be the final straw for me, so maybe I should be rooting for that. Go full expansion team here, works for me.

Not sure any of us want to actively move Terry. None of us do in reality. However, the WR market is now insane with deals up to 30mil per year. Would we pay a WR more than our QB for example. It’s not a case of let’s dump on Terry, but there is some merit in considering all options to make the roster improve.

It would take a significant offer to make me move on from him though as stated earlier.

Veteran rotational DE coming off 3.5 sacks as a backup in BUF. What we need with the youth we have at DE in Toney, JSW, and William Bradley King

He's listed as an UFA.  I expect a very minimal contract and wonder if our 7th round comp pick be taking away.  No biggie.  :)

Their reactions will be ridiculous when Tua continuously throws dirt balls in front of them.

And Tua was supposed to be a franchise QB according to many posters here.  You can't forecast future draft classes so don't even try.

No chance it gets anywhere enough to qualify in the comp pick list.  The Settle pick ranked late 20s out of 32 so this has no chance of breaking the top 32 provisionally allotted picks IMO.

Obada is a quality pickup. Given where he started with the Pathways program, I think he has room to continue improving. He's definitely a better option than Toohill, Toney and Bradley-King. I still hope they draft another guy, at least early in Day 3 to have more flexibility but good pickup.

For all those knocking Ron for signing former Panthers, who has been outright bad? The only person of consequence I can think of is Thomas Davis but he was brought in as more of a locker room guy. Everyone else has been good relative to their contracts, namely Heinicke and Larsen. I could do without the Jared Norrises and Kunasczyks and Mayos but most of them were PS guys for the season.

On Obada, see below:

All-22 year in review: Buffalo Bills DE Efe Obada - Buffalo Rumblings

Looks like a guy who wins on athleticism but is still raw. If he continues to refine technique, he can continue to grow (although he will be 30)

I'm wondering if Devante Parker could be had from Miami. Their WR depth chart is getting pretty long.  They got Hill now, Waddle, they signed Cedric Wilson in free agency, Parker, Preston Williams and Allen Hurns all on the roster.

Looks like WR is the draft is very likely. I think we go that route and maybe re-sign Carter.

Everybody likes to pile on Dan, and for good reason.  He's an extra special kind of a disaster, mostly because he keeps picking bad QBs.

But other than that, he's actually not THAT different from a bunch of other idiot owners.  Irsay just shipped Wentz out of town because of "reasons."  Did they come out ahead?  Maybe. Maybe not.  The Dolphins owner might have been attempting to pay a coach to lose games.  The Browns owner has a torrid history.  John Mara and company took an organization his father, Wellington, built, with Eli and Coughlin in place, and up until now, destroyed it.  We'll see if they got this last round right.

You're not going to convince me Jerrah isn't patting the backsides of every female employee in the organization and yelling "How 'Bout them Cowboys" as he has them sign NDAs.

Kraft, one of the most "respected" owners was arrested for getting a rub-n'-tug in Tampa.

The guy in Carolina seems like a complete fool.

Snyder is a complete ass hat who surrounded himself with sycophants and yes-men, he picked players over coaches, and has overruled his personnel guys. Add to that the workplace misconduct stuff, and you have a hot steaming mess.

HOWEVER, I would be willing to bet there are components of that track record in just about every organization.  Maybe not ALL of it thrown together in one steeping pile of doo-doo like we have with Dan.  (Though Jerrah comes somewhat close, the difference is he just came out and said "I'm the GM.  Deal with it.  If you don't like it, whatever, I'm not firing myself, so go kick rocks."  He also happens to not be the worst GM, and does listen to some of his personnel guys. I am willing to bet they have a lot of the same sexual harassment issues, though, they just cover them up better.)

The real difference is we hear about Snyder and his transgressions on a daily basis because the media in this town can't let it die.  In discussing the Wentz trade, the media will invariably bring up the fact we're in this situation because Dan screwed it all up by picking Haskins.  Which is true.  But, at this point, somewhat irrelevant.  And then they go through all of Dan's transgressions.  Again, and again, and again.

It's truly exhausting.  It's like, I get it.  He's an idiot.  I want him gone.  He seems just like a horrible human being.  But can we just give it a rest for a couple weeks and focus on literally anything else?

Just because everyone else acts like an idiot, does not mean you have to follow in their footsteps.

I understand and agree with your point. 100%.  That's why I love Mr. Rooney.

Now, it's incarceratedBob (he's who he is. Is on and then is off on rumorville) on twitter:  Wonder if we are one of those teams.  Probably not.  Thoughts on this.  We trade our #11 to the Jags and we receive Laviska Shenault Jr, and the first pick in the 2nd, #33 and the first pick in the 3rd, 65 overall.  We'd have a very good WR that hasn't been used correctly to pair with Terry as our #1 still has 2 years left on his rookie deal check it out.  Overall, we'd have #33, #47, #65 along with a very good WR to pair with Terry.

This delves into the team's status a little

https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/commanders/commanders-football-steadies-field-its-business-operations-stumble

In Washington, however, the deal was exclusive, and team and league sources said it was highly unusual that InBev would drop from an exclusive deal to no deal rather than simply lowering its financial commitment and moving to a non-exclusive contract.

The loss of the multi-million dollar sponsorship comes at a time of significant upheaval inside the Commanders business operations. Team and league sources explained that at least 20 non-football employees have left since the beginning of the year. Per one former team employee, “that place is a mess."

The Commanders paint a different picture of the current atmosphere.

A team spokesperson said that even with the loss of revenue from the Anheuser-Busch deal, sponsorship revenues are on pace to outperform 2021. Of the employee turnover, the spokesperson allowed that it's a time of "intense change" for the Commanders but that the end of the football season in January provided a natural turning point for staff transition.

Attendance remains a problem as empty seats have become the norm at FedEx Field over the last five years -- and that was before Washington landed at the bottom of the NFL last season in tickets sold.

Sales are trending upward now, though, according to the spokesperson. The Commanders have sold more new season tickets in the last three weeks than in the previous three years, a sizeable achievement. But also keep in mind fans weren't allowed to attend most games in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There's also the undeniable state of FedEx Field itself, which sustained a number of embarrassing mishaps including plumbing issues and a dangerous railing collapse.

Even during the mostly successful rollout of the team's new name and logo last month, a Commanders crest displayed the wrong dates for the team's three Super Bowl championships, which led to fan outrage. Eventually, the crest was corrected with the Commanders stating on social media: "We heard you loud and clear."

That's in addition to lingering NFL investigations into sexual harassment and workplace culture under Dan Snyder's ownership.

A new headwind facing the organization emerged with the BoycottDan.com website, which provides email addresses for fans to reach out to team sponsors and encourage the companies to "sever any and all ties with Daniel Snyder and the Washington Commanders NFL team."Ironically, the Commanders football situation seems at its most stable in the last five years. Head coach Ron Rivera is firmly entrenched at the top of the organization's football hierarchy and the team just traded for new quarterback Carson Wentz.

A former MVP candidate, Wentz is hardly a sure thing after being dealt twice in two seasons by the Philadelphia Eagles and then the Indianapolis Colts, but he’s the best passer in Washington since Kirk Cousins departed via free agency after the 2017 season. Washington won seven games in each of Rivera's first two seasons, and the coach made clear he expects more from his squad this fall.

While the Commanders' name might be new, the arrival of a new quarterback and upheaval in business operations is not.

In 2018, Washington traded for veteran QB Alex Smith to replace Cousins and hired a crew of executives to overhaul and modernize its business operations.

Less than a year later all of those executives were gone and the team lost about 40 employees in the wake of their departure. Smith suffered a broken leg that fall and never returned to the same level of athleticism following the injury.

The Commanders' new executive group does not believe the comparisons from 2018, and any previous efforts to revamp Washington's organization, hold much current relevance.

"The biggest thing is we need to get out there and build trust with the community," Washington team president Jason Wright said last month at an Economic Club forum. "For us, we need the humility to approach each conversation knowing we have to build trust. That it's not just plainly there, that it needs to be earned or re-earned in places where that trust has faded."

The effort to rebuild that trust, however, takes a hit when a major sponsor like Anheuser-Busch InBev decides it doesn't want to continue a financial relationship with the Washington brand. The Commanders are actively looking for a new alcohol sponsor for 2022.

Speaking with league sources about Washington this offseason one message became clear - despite Rivera’s efforts to improve the team’s reputation, the Commanders are not a top destination for NFL talent. Washington was never in the running for elite quarterback options like Russell Wilson or Deshaun Watson.

It appears that may be the case for top NFL sponsors as well.

Efe Obada, his nickname is "Don't Play" as in "Don't mess with that cat cuz he Don't Play."

Efe may be a choir boy off the field but on it he's one mean nasty mother... WATCH YO MOUTH!

I'm just talkin' 'bout Efe.

Well go on then, but keep it clean ya hear.

I'll go the pic route then...

Efe Obada towers over his victims and like a psycopath smiles at 'em before he starts dismembering things...

image.png.5dc633e024aa271de3f151f92dc597ab.png

Before games he closes his eyes and quietly imagines hitting people so hard that their heads fall off...

image.png.e4c7dff275a0e50831b47c6102f246ed.png

Between plays he stares at his opponent until they spontaneously soil their pants or ask out of the game...

image.thumb.png.a2dc903904f8ea0f6bc46c842833d653.png

Bottom line Obada is one bad hombre.

No, we're clearly looking for him to replace Young and Allen of course. Or at least compete with them.

:ols: this guy is basically Ioannidis replacement and it's a great move.

Is there any other NFL team forced to lay off employees to help the bottom line?

And some wonder why we have trouble attracting free agent players, let alone top level employees and coaches, that don't have a previous relationship with Rivera.
