I think there's something to having an eloquent gay man representing the U.S. on the international stage. Let the world know, we will not discriminate. I think VA is way too big for him. Same with DOD. I like a general “senior advisor” spot. Get him in and around other senior level people. A good way for him to learn and build a resume. 1

Why I thought he'd make a great VP. President sets the policy (Warren), VP sells it (Pete), State makes it happen (Rice). That's the government, in the very smallest nutshell. No Excuses
VA is where careers go to die. Pete deserves better. Want a China hawk at State or DoD who aren’t incompetent buffoons like Pompeo and Esper.

Warren will not be in the administration, if it requires Senate approval. She couldn't get confirmed. Best for her to be a Senator and work from there. redskins59
Pete Buttigieg is a near-certainty for Biden's cabinet. https://www.axios.com/pete-buttigieg-joe-biden-cabinet-ec5af2b1-c884-4d50-ae41-e40bee7dde8b.html

McConnell didn't block judges out of spite. He did it because he made the coldly cynical call that any political backlash would be far outweighed by the upside of being able to ram through judges and justices that will shape the direction of the country for the next 40 years. What benefit does he get from blocking cabinet appointments?
Momma There Goes That Man
VA is a waste for Pete and I feel like he’s only rumored for that because he was in the military. he would do well there but he’s a rock star and a big part of the Dem future. He needs something with more flash. I’d give him the UN spot so he can get more international experience, build those relationships and help repair our image abroad. It would be good exposure for him. 19 minutes ago, Rdskns2000 said: Warren will not be in the administration, if it requires Senate approval. She couldn't get confirmed. I want her pushing the America altering bills thru the senate Edited November 9, 2020 by Momma There Goes That Man

Biden officials have made clear to donors and party officials the question surrounding Buttigieg is not if, but where, he lands, Democrats close to Biden tell Axios. The intrigue: Behind that certainty, though, are a range of questions about how to put his obvious political talent to use. The multilingual Buttigieg has told friends he wants U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, but he may face internal competition from Julie Smith, a longtime Biden foreign policy confidant. Former diplomats Wendy Sherman and Linda Thomas-Greenfield are other possibilities. Rep. Ted Deutch from Florida also has expressed interest. Other slots for Buttigieg range from Housing and Urban Development to Veterans Affairs to the Office of Management and Budget. bearrock
For Buttigieg's long term national political aspirations, UN Ambassador probably makes more sense than HUD, VA, or OMB. As vital as those departments are, it won't really add much gravitas to his resume. I'm not sure how much weight UN Ambassadorship adds either, but it would at least add a foreign relations line on his bio. What benefit does he get from blocking cabinet appointments? The GOP will not accept progressives like Warren, AOC, Sanders. They will fight it. Raise money off it. See, Biden is indeed a puppet of socialists. I fully expect Mitch to gum up things for Joe. He's already planning on making sure the GOP wins in 22 and 24. Momma There Goes That Man
One of the pieces I saw had Doug Jones at AG. I said before that was an inspiring choice and I like that but I would also be open to pretty much anything for Jones. He’s a rising star and I’ve been thoroughly impressed with him when I’ve seen him speak. He voted his beliefs every step of the way and never compromised even though he knew those votes would cost him. Now that he’s lost the senate, we have to get him out of Alabama so he actually has a future Edited November 9, 2020 by Momma There Goes That Man

I mean he's not in Bernie, Biden, Warren range, but I'm not sure I'd call him a rising star. He might become a state's attorney again or take a deputy position somewhere in the justice department. I'm not sure an older white guy would look great as the head of the justice department right now. I would think possibilities might be Sally Yates, Preet Bharara (though he might not take it if he thinks there's conflicts of interests), or someone else. The attorney general needs to be someone talented, tenacious, respected, aggressive, and independent. Then Biden steps out of it, as he is supposed to, and lets that person decide how or if to prosecute Trump and his cronies (yes... I'm sure there will be attempted pardons). I understand the fairness of appointing Sally Yates, but she won't be seen as independent... She was personally harmed by the Trump administration. Of course, anyone picked is going to be accused of bias, but that's no reason to make it easy.
LD0506
Oooooo, this is a fun one, we've been playing it here already The Cabinet includes the Vice President and the heads of 15 executive departments — the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Attorney General. Pete at the UN would be a great move AG.... I'd love to see Yates there, Preet Bharara would be good too Can't lose Warren in Senate, what about Auntie Maxine for Treasury? Let Duckworth straighten out the VA SoS is important, need experience there, Hillary? 😁 DHS......hmmmm, again, needs the right person...... ....... This may take awhile
