Cooleyfan1993
Literally, WHERE was this caps team the first 3 games? (this is just delaying the inevitable though, but nice to know the team does have some fight in them...)

mammajamma
Some absolutely beautiful passing this period. Haven't seen any of this decisiveness all series till now. Too bad we had to ruin it with a penalty
Hersh
Ovechkin is amazing. Shame there is zero support from the bottom six and the D to this point. This is the 3rd period of game 4 and only 3 Caps have goals this series.

mammajamma
Playing great with very few shots on goal. If we do make it through this game, the guys need to do some work on their aim at the net before next game

I’d be surprised if many are optimistic of the chances of that though. I know I’m not. zCommander
My daughter said, "Can I leave now?"...lol Really great effort from the boys in this game. Need the same effort in the next game and maybe more as well. Edited August 19, 2020 by zskins
mammajamma
Woo! Finally found their chemistry in the 3rd. If they keep passing like that, we have a chance. Gotta work on those faceoffs though
PokerPacker
Aside from early in the first period, the Caps actually came to play tonight, and I'm not talking about the goals scored each way. Isles controller play early on, but the Caps really took it to them late in the 1st and throughout the rest of the game.
TradeTheBeal!
We actually have enough talent to come back from 3-0 against a grinder squad like the Isles. Success is a mighty burden. Caps in 7.
Hersh
The Caps could’ve won that game 8-2 if they don’t miss the net. I don’t know why Kovalchuk is in the lineup. Maybe he will get a hat trick next game but he isn’t doing anything.
Springfield
Great 2 periods of hockey. Need that kind of effort again, 3 more times.

capcrunch98
I've cried through every Caps playoff heartbreak, dating back to the 80s, and it would really be poetic if they became one of the few teams in league history to climb out of the deepest hole imaginable. But it's not happening in this series, and we all know it. Realistically, the best case scenario is we win another and then go down fighting in Game 6. That could convince management and ownership this team still has something special and the core should be kept together, with some changes to the bottom half of the roster and behind the bench. Because after Game 3, I was thinking of something drastic - as in trade everyone over the age of 25 not named Ovechkin and hope you can pull off a 2 year rebuild like the Rangers are doing. GoDeep81
Best 2 periods of "meaningful" hockey they've played (that I recall) in probably the last 2 seasons. They were relentless, pretty much dominated at both ends. Still need to see some paydirt from a few more guys.

Mournblade
Did anyone think the Caps had a chance when we went down 2-0 to Columbus in 2018? And I personally pretty much gave up on them when they gave up a 2-0 lead to Tampa only to go down 3-2 in the series. And this is the Islanders. "A team of grinders" as Trythebeal put it. We are way more talented than them. We can do it. Edited August 19, 2020 by Mournblade
Hersh
The problem with the Caps situation is that it's tough to beat a playoff team 4 straight games. Having said that, the Islanders got swept out of the playoffs last year so it's doable against this team. Of course the Caps could also get run next game too.
