Then we have the Pirates, Orioles and Marlins with a brutal Cubs series at Wrigley lodged in the middle. If we're in a similar position to where we are now at the end of August, heading into a massive Mets series at Nats Park, we're in for a world of hurt. We need to pull 3-4 games ahead of at least one of the major wildcard contenders to give us room to play .500 ball in September against the league's best. Game 2 they tied in on a slap-hitter's 1st MLB homer--who had 5 HRs in 560-something ABs in MiLB. And Edwin Diaz is still terrible. September is still a bear, after the Marlins and Mets we have Braves-Twins-Braves-Cardinals-Phillies-Indians, in that order. Cards and Phillies series could be huge.
