The Washington Nationals Thread: The Future is Near!

Something to look at as the season progresses. We have the 2nd most stolen bases in MLB and we're tied for 3rd fewest GIDP (grounding into a double play) in MLB. There has to be a correlation between this. It makes sense at least, fewer forced outs as more stolen bases means a runner on 2nd can choose not to run, or turning the double play from 3rd to 1st is that much harder than 2nd to 1st.

This is old news. He’s 4-4 tonight!

He was noticeably more upright in his batting stance this year. Would make sense for it to take a while for him to get comfortable with that adjustment.

Small things. SF’s pitcher was absolutely dealing. 8 up, 8 down with six strikeouts. Young gets a single up the middle. Basically gets picked off first, but beats the through down to second for a steal. Steals third standing with two outs. Now, because of speed, the pitcher can’t put the ball in the dirt to get Abrams to chase with two strikes. Puts it over the plate, and boom, two run homerun.

Calling that just a home run is underselling it. Abrams vaporized that ball. 106.6 off the bat, 423 ft.

Yeah. I was going to say he parked it in the cove, but wasn’t sure if it cleared or not. It was a shot.

Really nice, but short outing for Adon. I agree with the quick hook before the third turn though the lineup.

I see that Senzel is rehabbing. Got two hits tonight. Not sure what happens when he’s ready.

Add 3 from last night in the Nats 5-3 win - all from Jacob Young....

It's the last year of Corbin's deal? Paying him either way, move him to the pen and promote Adon AND Rutledge. Might as well see if they can improve over 2024 without worrying about being sat. Corbin isn't and won't be here next year anyway.

What a weird game today. Corbin wasn't even that bad. He actually had command today and was locating at the bottom of the zone, but the ump wasn't giving any strikes down there.

Wasn't hit hard at all either. Everything that could go bad did go bad.

Fredericksburg scored 10 runs in an inning tonight too. Looking like a powerhouse in Low-A!

I agree, if Young hangs onto that third out then it’s an entirely different game. Still tough to win scoring only one run.

With the afternoon game done, I’ve been flipping through the app watching the four minor league games. Lots of things to like position player wise.

Wood two hits, two walks.

Pickney three hits - two doubles

House two hits.

Morales no hits, but scorched a line drive to center that was caught -103 mph.

 Vaquero a triple and homerun.

Our light hitting SS Cruz and Made both with multi hit games.

2022 OF picks that dropped out of discussion last year, Cox and McKenzie are hitting themselves into an interesting position.

Lots to keep track of with this group.
