Dems have to sell a simple message. It's not hard, tell everyone:

The trade wars caused increased tariffs which led to the bailouts. It's socialism. Equate the tariffs to increased taxes.

The cutting of per diems in the trucking industry. The tax cuts were to to be reinvestments to the workers across the nation.

Stay away from Medicare for all at the moment. Take the Mayor Pete route. Allow the market to force that change over time.

These are simple things everyone can understand. Don't get into the trenches on guns and abortion. It'll increase the turnout on the right. This is why farmers, truck drivers, etc. will stay with the republican party. It's a three issue party; taxes, guns, and abortion. They can take taxes off the table if they frame the tariffs as such and explain how the rich did not trickle the money down. KISS, keep it simple stupid.

I dont see trying to convince Republicans to vote Democrat instead of Democrats to vote Democrat as a winning strategy.

Mayor Pete is more concerned with winning the election then actually fixing the health care system, the market isnt going to fix itself, that's why MFA is on the table.

Republicans never ask how to get Democrats to vote Republican via policies they might support.  Some people will never flip between support for small government or large government.

The real message here needs to be democracy versus authoritarianism, this is bigger then policy differences at this point.

None of the top Democrats seeking the presidential nomination would beat President Donald Trump in Texas in an election held today — and neither would either of the Texas candidates in that race, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.

When's the last time it was that close in Texas?  Clinton vs Dole?  I mean GOP losing Texas would be like Dem losing CA or NY.  Might as well pack up and go home.

Yeah it is probably best to hide what Dems plan to do if they hope to be elected.

Call it the Beto 1.0

I don't think plans to support unions, raise wages, crosstrain for a better environment, keep farmers farmin', and reign in unfettered capitalism are bad.

Barack needs to slap some sense into his man. Its like Biden slept through the Obama presidency

And the W Presidency.  And the Clinton Presidency.

Many of the evils we're seeing now, have been GOP policy for at least 20 years.

Trump didn't cause them.  And the GOP won't stop them when Trump leaves.

(They'll hide them a little better.  But not much.)

Also, I keep having this wish, for a policy to propose.

I at least imagine Liz doing this.  I mean, the vague (probably wrong) image I have of her is as a consumer crusader, and mega policy wonk.  Well, I have some ideas for policy proposals that I think would get a lot of attention, and make her platform more accessible to non-policy wonks.

1)  Propose to get rid of (or at least greatly reduce) telemarketers (and associated telemarketing scammers.)   Maybe it's just me, but I have trouble believing that we are simply incapable of shutting down, well, I'd start with the outright scammers.

I work home health care, and the 80 year old, somewhat confused, woman who owns the house (my patient's mother) must get 6-8 phone calls a day from spoofed Caller ID numbers from "The Visa/Mastercard/Discover processing center", "Your Google business listing", "Windows technical support", "returning her call about Medicare knee and back braces", and similar.  I understand that there will always be people trying to sell the Brooklyn Bridge, but they shouldn't be able to operate for 10 years, and take credit cards.

2)  I have a problem with this business model that seems to be really common with cell phone and cable TV providers - the "you're obligated to stay with this contract for two years, but the company is allowed to change their end of the contract any time they fell like it" contract.

Federal law:  If the consumer is locked into a contract for some time frame, then the deal is not allowed to change for that same duration.

Any proposals that you want one of the candidates to get behind?
