No other golfer comes close to the roller coaster of highs and lows. That bunker shot today was pure magic. What a tournament. He has somewhat played Weiskopf, to Tiger’s Nicklaus in his career, and to add yesterday’s piece of history to his legacy was a well earned prize. If he could somehow win the US Open, it would cement his name among the all-time greats… if it isn’t there already. What I found truly touching last night, was the number of players who stayed around to congratulate him on his victory. Speaks chapters on what kind of guy he is. His adulation was hard earned, and well deserved. Him talking to Amy on the phone, saying, “I love you”, and “I miss you so much,” may have made this old guy a little misty. Spieth hasn’t been the same since he put two in the water on 12 at Augusta several years ago. Let’s hope for similar results.
