It's all you need at this stage...these are professional football players who have been hitting and tackling for double-digit years now. Work on angles in practice and thud them up with you want. We are talking about 53-man rosters come game day, no need to ramp up hitting and risk injuries. You rarely ever see tackle practices even in college. It's just not really necessary. What's more important is the pursuit drills and breaking down in front of a ball carrier, things I'm sure we are doing. As for Norman getting beat by Desean and Garcon in 1 on 1s....it's honestly what I expect. Never in a game will a DB go up against a WR having to take away inside, outside, deep, and short routes with no pass rush. No leverage, no help, just go out there and cover. Even in a true cover 0 this scenario never happens in-game. Receivers have the entire field to operate with an "unlimited" amount of time. I know they put a pass rush count on the QB, but really it's an unlimited amount of time. I remember going up against TEs in camp that would run their route, and if covered would adjust in a completely unnatural route-combination-way just to get open. Add on top of that that Norman is a Zone Coverage specialist who plays off route combos and reads QBs, and you've got a recipe for disaster in 1-on-1. Tomlin is probably just sending a message to his guys that they need to be more physical this year. It's always a double edged sword. You want to practice your tackling, but you want to avoid injuries. I thought we missed too many tackles last year, especially in the run game. Gotta figure out a way to improve there. In my eyes, Compton really struggled last season against the run. Maybe I need glasses...or thicker ones. I've heard a lot of praise about Compton and DHall. Put me in the show me category for both guys. I'm probably a little more bearish on both than most here, just because of Hall's position switch and Compton taking on more responsibility. Bonez3 Posted August 2, 2016 Share Posted August 2, 2016 Cousins, while not as mobile or creative as Russell Wilson, has that knack that whenever he does run its big time positive. Further, he actually has nice vision and some wheels. He has run the read option with success and ran one in during the playoffs on a very well designed play, but still up the middle which is not easy for QB. Unlike RG3 where he would do a lot of running usually for a 2-3 yard gain and always take a hit. Cousins has those low risk runs that are very fruitful and not very flashy. Our biggest area of weakness against the run was when Kerrigan got pinned inside and the safety was put one on one with the RB. I think it was the Jets who started that... then the Bucs, then the Panthers, then the Cowboys on MNF... I think that was the number 1 reason we didn't invite Goldson was not invited back and we invested heavily in SS in FA and the draft. Cravens and Bruton should do well there. But that's a good point on the Steelers and needing to be more physical. I didn't even think about that. I hope this week 1 match is as good as I think it will be. SWFLSkins Posted August 3, 2016 Author Share Posted August 3, 2016 Panamon28 http://es.redskins.com/topic/402671-swfls-summer-camp-the-official-twitter-thread-rva-style-slip-and-slide-included-boogers-extra-cheerleadercounselors/page-25#entry10659614 Caught yesterday's practice...a few notes from DL/OLB vs OL drills: - T.Williams stoned P.Smith three times in a row (think that Smith will be good this year but he was no match for Williams today) - J.Leribeus was a turnstile; three different players (Golston, Lanier, Hood, I think) all blew by him in <2 sec (sad showing) - T.Nsekhe is going to get paid this offseason - looked really good in his three 1on1s - none of the OLBs he matched up against could deal with his size/power - M.Ioannidis looked good on the two rushes that I saw - won one w quickness, one w power - I'd give Scherff the edge in his two match-ups w Baker; Swaggy seemed to get a good initial push but Scherff stood him up both times and stopped the rush - Kerrigan was stopped on both of his rushes by Morgan Moses but one of the back-up OLBs beat Moses around the edge (couldn't be sure who it was (other players in the way) but it may have been Wakefield) - Lichtensteiger was average - beat by Ioannidis, (and Hood, I believe) but held his own in other match-up - Long was badly beaten once, held his own the other two times.....same with Kouandijo Drill MVPs: Trent Williams, Ty Nsekhe...........LVPs: Josh Leribeus, OLBs (dominated on virtually every rep by top 3 OTs) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'll try to at least get some pics and share anything interesting I notice. It might be from a ground-level perspective though, as I recently have sudden fits where I have to lay flat and stay as motionless as possible. Whimpering seems to help though, so that's a positive. If you happen to be at camp and see a distressed man in prone position taking pictures, do not be alarmed. A few notes from the day from my perspective: Sudfield is a rookie, and he looked like a rookie yesterday. He was slow to read plays, late to throw, and ended up with at least 3 ints. McCoy looked a great deal better. He was much quicker to read the play and had some nice throws. 1st team did not do much 11 on 11 yesterday. They did some running plays, but from my vantage point, it was hard to tell how the play would have ended up if defense was really tackling. I watched the line more than the 1 on 1's and 7 on 7's. I was really impressed with Ziggy Hood. He was all over everyone. Ribs needs to go. I don't know how he lasted this long, but he is awful. Overall, it was a nice crowd (not huge, but nice sized). Hated to see Daniels not playing and finding out he is out for the season, but it may be a blessing in disguise. The MLB position is pretty crowded, and I really liked watching Gavin. I'd add Bruton and Toler to that as well, we have added some significant depth that hasn't been noticed or noted much at all. Which IMO is a good thing. Ribs is being panned across the board, oh well, too bad so sad, see ya, what I am wondering about is Arie Kouandjio, anyone seen him and how's he doing? Conn Posted August 6, 2016 Share Posted August 6, 2016 I haven't seen a ton about how AK is actually doing, but it's comforting to at least see his name pop up among 2nd teamers getting reps. Unlike last year where he was totally invisible. I did see that they were trying him out at OT with the 3rd team as well...trying to see how versatile he is like that increases his odds of making the roster of course but probably also signals that he's not considered a real contender for that LG spot being fought for between Long and Lavauo right now. Last week on Friday SM was standing around the goalline with Grudens kid watching them do 11v11 in the afternoon practice (from about the 35 on the other side of the 50). Garcon comes flying down the far sideline from the fans with Norman on him about a step behind. Kirk throws a looong bomb that hangs up a bit and allows Norman to recover. They both go up for it and then come down in a huge mess of arms and limbs with Norman landing head first. Garcon jumps up and jogs back to the huddle but Norman is on his knees with his head down on the ground, hands over his ear holes. SM just stops and stares. You could see his mind thinking "Oh ****". So Norman gets up and goes over to the sideline and they are working his neck and head. SM is still just staring at him. Bruce and Dan are on the sideline about 5 yards from Norman also just staring. He checked out OK and went to stand by Dan for about 3 plays before going back with the rest of the defense. SM never left the endzone. Dan and Bruce never went to the player either. Im planing on attending this week There's no set way that players take pictures with fans happens from what I've seen. You can take pictures as much as you want though. There's always guys signing autographs after every walkthrough and practice, but it varies who's doing it. Different players come to the ropes and sign stuff. Have what you want signed and a sharpie or whatever ready. People get there early, stake out spots, and never leave the ropes just for autographs. They also go pretty deep. Best bet is to get there early, stake out a spot, and stick there. Get water or whatever you need before you claim your space. If you have people coming with you stake out a small area, so one or two of you can leave if need be, and not lose your spot. Kids get the most attention, as they should. You'll need to get the attention of who's out there signing stuff, but also don't be overly aggressive. Don't be the older guy starting a mosh pit with kids. It's a fine line. You have to be somewhat assertive, but not an ass. I've been going somewhere around 5 times a year since it started in Richmond and never got one, but I haven't really tried. Im planing on attending this week I got to meet about 10 players that same Friday after the practices. Super easy to approach as they walked along the yellow rope signing autographs. SoulSkin Posted August 7, 2016 Share Posted August 7, 2016 I finally got out there today. Pretty big crowd, but that should be expected on a weekend. I had my face buried in my camera most of the time, and most of the action was at the opposite end of the field from where I was at, so I could be wrong about some of what I thought I noticed. The theme of Sudfield having some work to do seems true. Three consecutive plays: First one he sailed a ball so far off target, I think it went onto the crowd on the sidelines... just a bit outside. Next play, drilled it into a DB in coverage. Third play, batted down with authority. I couldn't see who got it, but Sudfield is so tall, I would think he wouldn't get ball batted down at the line much. He throws the ball hard though. Really loud when it hits peoples hands, especially when they're like two feet away from him. Tress Way was booming punts. Dustin Hopkins was booming kicks. Hopkins hit one of the camera crane baskets again. Again, opposite side of the field, and a lot of players sort of shielding what was going on, so I couldn't tell for sure how long of a field goal it was. Cousins looked really good from what I saw. Had numerous completions and a good string of them in a row. Colt looked a little shaky. WR #13 Harris looked good to me too. He had a couple of nice catches. I just missed getting a really good picture of one of them. I am not a great photographer, but here's a couple of pics I got that I think are pretty good. Someone tell me if these are too big to post here please. I have a few more but will stop with these four.
