6 Dead, 3 Hurt in Apparently Random Shootings in Michigan

Six people were killed and three others were wounded in a series of apparently random shootings in Michigan Saturday, Kalamazoo County sheriff's official said.

"We seem to be dealing with a worst case scenario, someone driving around shooting," Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas told NBC News.

Matyas said there are three shooting scenes. None of the victims at the three scenes appear connected, he said.

The suspect is described as a 50-year-old white male, driving a dark blue or silver port-utility vehicle.

Police began investigating a shooting at a Kalamzoo County apartment building at around 7:50 p.m., in which a woman was shot several times, Matyas said. She is in serious condition.

About three hours later, police were called to a car dealership where three people were two people were fatally shot and a third was wounded, he said.

Police then received a call of a third shooting in the parking lot of a nearby Cracker Barrel restaurant where a four people were shot and killed and a fifth was wounded and in critical condition, Matyas said.

What can you even say at this point.

On to the next one.

At least they discribed him as a white guy, lest we mistake this for terrorism.

That's the problem. We haven't done anything. Not in the arena of mental health, not in the arena of gun control, not in the area of interagency communication. They only thing we've done is offer empty prayers to families followed by no deeds.

We keep doing nothing and expect changes. Worse, we keep doing nothing and some say this is normal. It isn't normal. It doesn't happen to this degree or frequency anywhere else in the world. Australia hasn't had a single mass shooting incident in 20 years... not since they passed laws and acted to enforce them.

Here, we won't pass laws and if we try to... local jurisdictions swear they will ignore them.

Now, some will accuse me of being political too soon, but the truth is, we've seen dozens of these events without action. After the incident is too soon and after a period of time the NRA rallies and squelches reason or people decide not to care.

Events like this do not have to be normal. They can be addressed. They should be.

We're not expecting changes.

Anyone who wants changes should NOT be expecting them because you have nt and will not get them, and those who don't want changes think everything is fine and you just have to live with it.

cha CHING.

Money in the bank, baby. and that won't change because the big giant lobby likes the money, and those who are manipulated by their total lack of reason feel that the occasional murder or ten are just the acceptable price to pay so they can continue to sell as many guns to as many people as they can.

by the way,, go buy a gun. Because you never know when some psycho is going to just drive up while you're walking to your car in Denny's parking lot and kill everyone.

And. go buy a gun.. because we don't care if there's voices in your head telling you to go murder that family walking out of Denny's. Just go buy one before your credit card gets canceled.

.. bang bang bang. ... bang.

Would be even funnier, if not for the fact that this is the exact mentality of far too many people in this great, but puzzling nation.

Nothing you can do. Just trot along your merry life and hope it doesn't happen to you.

Sorry, but I HAVE to believe that it is attitudes such as this which continue to perpetuate this absurdity of mass shootings in the USA. Stand up, scream and holler, fight the money, corporate giants, and politicians that continue to aid these tragedies. Change is often slow in coming, but come it will if the din of the noise becomes too loud.

Esp. when other countries have acted and solved this problem. No other nation in the world faces what we do. Are we crazier, more violent, and stupider than every other nation in the world? Are we a genetically different species?

If not, there is something that can be done because what we are seeing is unique.

Yeah, I know. Was just echoing the sentiment you're left with, no matter how many times this argument comes up. Too much red tape. Too much idiocy.

All you're left with is hoping the cosmic roulette ball doesn't stop on your number, or someone else close to you.

Anytime. Anywhere. Anyone.

You're heading towards Trump as a Presidential candidate.

That answer's the bolded

Nah, I've seen many incarnations of Trump in Europe. Scapegoating and hatemongering is not uniquely American.

One would like to think you're bigger than a small European State who would put such a person forward to contest a leadership.

That would be the MAJOR difference.

But this is off topic. Condolences to the bereaved.

Hail.

What's the update on this? They catch the dude or no?

Suspected Michigan shooter lived with wife, two children

The man suspected of shooting six people to death in Michigan appeared to carry on a normal life with his longtime wife and two school-age children.

Jason Dalton, 45, lived with his wife of at least 15 years, Carole Dalton, and their children, ages 15 and 10, on a quiet rural road in western Michigan, neighbors and associates told USA TODAY.

"It's a total shock. They're a very nice family," said Colleen Benjamin, whose husband works with Carole Dalton at the Kalamazoo branch of Raymond James financial advisers. "I never would have suspected anything."

Jason Dalton had no criminal record, police said, and court records show five traffic violations from 1991 to 2006.

Dalton was an Uber driver and passed a background check, the company said Sunday. WOOD-TV reported that Dalton drove fare-paying passengers on Saturday, apparently in between the shootings, which occurred sporadically between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday in three locations. He was taken into police custody early Sunday without incident.

A woman posted on Facebook Saturday evening that "an Uber driver named Jason" recently drove her fiance, and "sideswiped a car blowing through a stop sign."

The Daltons lived in a rural community outside Kalamazoo, a city of 75,000 about 150 miles west of Detroit. Property records indicate they bought their ranch-style house in 1997.

Trot faster, though.

No, sir. There's a higher probability of that egregious grease content in their food causing your arteries to clog, and causing you to keel over halfway to your car, than the probability of a random guy walking up, and popping a couple clips in your head.

Well, go buy a gun anyway. The only way to stop a bad heart attack is to have a good heart attack with a gun.

Speaking of cholesterol laden fast food, did you know that a gun can help to clean arteries? Ventilates them quite well, in fact. But you'd never hear the Liberal AMA admitting anything like that, all they're on about is the side effects. "Potential sudden death" "Rapid loss of organs" etc etc. Whatever.

Fast food fans; Coming soon! (if we buy enough votes) McHandguns for kids in Happy Meals!

And this weekend I see a 6-year old accidently killed his dad in Indiana, and a teenager in Texas shot a friend and then killed himself.

I always look at car accident stats as a reasom not to ban guns, as well as the "a good guy with a gun..." the problem is that the "good guy with a gun" story happens 5% of the time -- or less.

These deaths are entirely preventable. I am starting to tip...
