Have you ever heard of the YouTuber named Jake? He makes YouTube videos about the NFL. He always slows the plays down and shows clips of players doing inexplicable things. He then says " the NFL is more scripted than WWE. " He calls us ( people who don't think it's scripted) NFL fanboys. He says his videos show obvious evidence of it. I admit that sometimes there are clips that don't make a lot of sense. I can't explain why the players did what they did. I still think it's a ridiculous accusation though.

Its amusing to talk about but when you put even an ounce of critical thinking into it you'll realize how absurd it sounds.

I think you actually are more ridiculous for watching the videos than he is for making them—he’s at least profiting from the obvious grift.

I don't watch his videos. I saw one when it popped up on my feed. Wasn't sure what it was about. It showed Mahomes scrambling and a defender had a clear shot to stop him. However instead of doing that, the guy ran straight to a blocker and initiated contact and basically forced himself into being blocked. Why would he do that instead of just running straight to Mahomes and tackling him? That was the point the guy was making. He had no reason to ignore going after the scrambling QB and go find someone to block him instead. It was strange but I still don't think it is proof of anything.

He had a field day when Kendall Fuller pick sixed Dak last year. Because Dak literally threw the exact same risky pass two straight plays. The first one, Fuller dropped the ball. Then he inexplicably throws it again, on the very next play and Fuller holds onto that one and takes it back for the TD. So the conspiracy YouTuber said Dak was told to throw a pick six but KF couldn't hold on, so he immediately did it again due to the script telling him to. Lol.

It definitely does get ridiculous. He also claimed that Damar Hamlin's cardiac arrest was fake and scripted 🙄

You said this, described one, and then went on to describe two more in your next post. Just the sound of this dude’s voice in the clip you posted here makes me want to click out of it lol

I saw someone say at the time that the defender basically had a brain fart deciding his assignment there was to force Mahomes inside and prevent him just running free down the sideline, and engaged the blocker. It was a dumb play. The fact you would watch this and even think it’s suspicious (if not definitive) is hilarious though. It’s exactly how these grifters catch viewers and slowly turn them crazier and crazier. “I’m not saying I believe it but I’m just asking questions. Come on bro, look at this how do you explain that!” And then three years later you’re quoting disgraced academics who guested on Rogan. Protect yourself sir

This isnt an issue of whether this sack warrented a flag.

The biggest horse**** part of this was that Washington originally recovered the ball and it looked like it might be a turnover.  So the refs threw a flag to make sure the turnover wouldn't count.

The refs panicked and threw a flag because they needed the score to stay close.  Then had to come up with a reason for the flag so they picked something subjective like roughing the passer so New England could keep the ball.

Not suprisingly, they swallowed their whistles the next play when Forbes would have intercepted the ball as well if not for the OPI.

It's all rigged.

Can you explain why you‘d watch a rigged sport?

It's still entertaining, and sometimes, it's rigged in our favor.  I can still appreciate players trying hard and making athletic plays.  I just can't ignore the amount of influence the refs are allowed to have.  I have no desire to wager on games despite every other commercial telling me it's essential in order to enjoy the game to the fullest.

That doesn't mean the refs weren't unevenly enforcing penalties to make an uneven playing field.  Those two things aren't mutually exclusive

I’ve always believed if something is rigged, the outcome is known and determined by outside forces.

So maybe a different definition of rigged.

I also don’t think it’s rigged with any definition of rigged….

My counterpoint would be that if you went to a casino that used rigged decks, it doesn't mean you still couldn't win the occasional hand, but you would win significantly less than you would if the game was allowed to play out normally and without interference.  And if the casino is presenting the odds as one thing and in practice they are something different, that's not fair to the consumer.

It was pretty sweet after the game to watch the end of the Vikings game knowing I had money on them at +164.

Who cares about the rules as long as Jerry gets to have his primetime special celebration.  No chance the NFL let's the Cowboys lose when they're honoring Jimmy Johnson and "America's Team" 🤮

Obviously this thread was started by Roger Gooddell to make our fanbase look unhinged so nobody questions the refs for fear of looking like loonies. Damn you, commissioner!

Having ignored it for years I decided to drop in.

🫣🙄🤨😮😖😐😆

And you're right, if maybe just a tad overstated.😛

The other day I was going to move it to the fantasy forum like we used to do with particularly whack threads. 👹

But sadly that fun option isn't available now.

Were I to move it per rule it would go to the tailgate or ATN due to much of the content not being about the commanders.

There's a lot of stuff to talk intelligently about with reffing issues, inc. non-idiotic examinations of actual possible, if very very rare, outright chicanery.

But infinitely more on point would be unpacking the tons of incompetence, inconsistencies, poor training and regulation, and mismanagement at all levels.

It seems however this is a thread saturated with nonsense and painfully crippled "reasoning."

Of course it's possible in this world, but very rare, to have some circumstances where a conspiracy theory actually has/had rational legs.

Unfortunately, as a subject category in any topical area, it's mainly a powerful attractor for bubbly brain chemistry.

Subjecting it to the tailgate might be fun for awhile. 👹

Posted (edited)

I've always tried to back up everything I post with articles, video or image documentation or article links.  Which is alot more thorough than what can be said for most of the posts on this board.

Not sure why having a place for people to complain about bad calls against the team seems like such a blasphemous topic for some.  I genuinely think bad calls going against our team is an interesting topic and worth documenting.  Anytime I post here I always get several notifications that people are reading and liking what I am contributing

Also not sure why people think they HAVE to come in here and say anything if its something they arent interested in.  Or why a 9,000th iteration of "73-0" carries more inherent value than weekly controversial calls that happen in the games.

You want to delete it, go ahead I can't stop you.
