Some More Cops Who Need to Be Fired

I guess crime does pay, and the cops are the ones that will pay you:

San Bernardino County paid $1.1 million ransom to hacker that caused "network disruption" within Sheriff's Department

San Bernardino County officials on Friday announced that they paid more than a million dollars to a hacker that caused a network disruption within the county's sheriff's department.

The hacker is said to have uploaded some form of ransomware into San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's information technology system, according to a statement from the city.

While the specifics of the malware attack have not been disclosed, the county has been quiet about the incident for weeks, according to the San Bernardino Sun, with officials instead referring to the hack as a "network disruption" until they acknowledged the hack.

After careful consideration, county officials opted to pay the $1.1 million ransom to the unknown hacker in order to regain control of their system. They say that they paid $511,852 — less than half of that sum — thanks to an insurance policy.

Just remember, according to "Warrior Cop" mentality trainer Dave Grossman (and his lucrative industry), us lowly civilians are 1 of 2 things (possibly both?):

1. Some poor, stupid sheep who needs to occasionally be "nipped" by the sheepdog cops to keep us in line and remind us of our place

2. Murderous psychopaths who want to kill/injure cops at every interaction, so it's your job to shoot first and get home to your family and let other people ask questions later

Video Showed an Officer Trying to Stop His Partner From Killing a Man. Now We Know Police Investigators Never Even Asked About the Footage.

We obtained the NYPD’s full investigation into the killing of Kawaski Trawick, including documents and audio of interviews with the officers. The records provide a rare window into how exactly a police department examines its own after a shooting.

In the spring of 2019, two New York City Police Department officers entered the Bronx apartment of Kawaski Trawick. The 32-year-old personal trainer and dancer had called 911 after locking himself out.

But 112 seconds after their arrival, footage showed, one of the officers shot and killed Trawick, despite the officer’s more-experienced partner repeatedly telling him not to use force.

When an internal investigation later cleared the officers — saying “no wrongdoing was found” — the NYPD offered no explanation for its reasoning. But records obtained by ProPublica can now reveal how the department came to that conclusion.

Investigators never explored key exchanges between the two officers in the run-up to the shooting. They also never followed up with the officers when their accounts contradicted the video evidence.

Fail.  Seems like some secret service agents are about to be (or should be) removed from protective details and perhaps have more serious repercussions:

Intrusion at national security adviser’s home under investigation

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating how a man entered the home of President Biden’s national security adviser in the middle of the night roughly two weeks ago without being detected by agents guarding his house, according to three government officials.

The unknown man walked into Jake Sullivan’s home at about 3 a.m. one night in late April and Sullivan confronted the individual, instructing him to leave, two of the people briefed on the incident said. There were no signs of forced entry at the home, according to one of the people.

Sullivan has a round-the-clock Secret Service detail. But agents stationed outside the house were unaware that an intruder had gotten inside the home, located in the West End neighborhood of Washington, until the man had already left and Sullivan came outside to alert the agents, the two people said.

The intruder appeared to be intoxicated and confused about where he was, according to people briefed on the incident. There is no evidence the person knew Sullivan or sought to harm him, they said.

In a statement, the Secret Service said it has launched an investigation into the incident and how the intruder accessed Sullivan’s home undetected.

There has been rumors since the last presidential election that they are too compromised by whatever name you want to apply to the right-wing ideology to be trusted. Again, rumor has it, that is why Harris has been so low key once she got into office. She does not trust her detail with her life. That whole fiasco with them deleting the evidence from their phones once they were asked to turn them over is further proof that something is really wrong.

That’s a convenient rumor to cover for the fact that she’s not likeable and generally doesn’t get positive reviews out of what she does do.

She’s hiding because she can’t trust the secret service to protect her?

or because she’s a terrible VP and the administration is hiding her because they think that’s better than replacing her on the next ticket?

Oh its certainly politically advantageous for them. But its likely a mix of both, if you are asking me my personal opinion. Which, I guess you are... cause we both understand why I made particular mention that is was a rumor multiple times. Yes?

I guess being a condescending jackass isn't a fireable offense, but if this is how he acts in a minor business dispute, imagine this guy in a high stress situation.

Oh, and the Hertz worker should be fired for ignorance.

Los Angeles sheriff orders deputies to show tattoos, be interviewed about alleged gangs

After years of denials and stonewalling, there’s a new sheriff in town.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna on Thursday ordered his deputies to submit to interviews by the office of Inspector General Max Huntsman related to alleged deputy gangs, the Los Angeles Times reported.

“Please be advised that all Department personnel who received such a request are hereby ordered to appear and cooperate in such interviews. All statements made by Department personnel shall be full, complete, and truthful statements,” said Luna in an email that the Times described as “firmly worded.”

A statement from the department added that Luna has “remained in communication” with Huntsman’s office and he is in favor of the inquiry.

“The Department supports any investigation that seeks to uncover wrongdoing, since all members of the Sheriff’s Department are expected to hold themselves to the highest ethical and professional standards,” the statement said. “Department members who engage in misconduct or criminal activity will not be tolerated and will be held accountable.”

Last week, Huntsman’s office demanded interviews from 35 deputies accused of being in the Executioners or Banditos gangs, the Times reported.

Deputies’ unions and organizations have reportedly told LASD employees to delay complying with the order, which they claim is unfairly denying their members their rights.

Hooray, more taxpayer funded payouts while the police budget and pension don't lose a single penny!

Speaking of payouts...

Phoenix taxpayers to pay over quarter billion in Arpaio’s racial profiling case

Taxpayers in metro Phoenix are approaching a milestone in their financial pain from a 2013 racial profiling verdict over former Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s immigration crackdowns: In roughly a year, those ongoing costs will exceed a quarter of a billion dollars.

The bill is projected to reach $273 million by the summer of 2024, officials were told Monday before they approved a tentative budget that included $38 million in legal and compliance spending for the racial profiling lawsuit during the coming fiscal year.

A decade ago, a federal judge concluded the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office had profiled Latinos in Arpaio’s signature traffic patrols that targeted immigrants, leading to massive court-ordered overhauls of both the agency’s traffic operations and its internal affairs department.
