s0crates
Gotta love his dad's response, "I assure you my son lacks the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend’s existence. If he did, I'm sure he'd bring him right back." The article says this is the kid's third suspension in 6 months. His two priors: 1. Calling a classmate "black." 2. Bringing a children's encyclopedia (which had an illustration of a pregnant woman) to school. The whole story seems far-fetched, so maybe something hasn't been reported accurately or completely. If the facts really are as reported, then this is just silly.

Chew
It's probably complications the measles vaccine that has the kid thinking he's a wizard Give the kid a break! Agreed, but this is Texas were talkin about. They probably have a law that says you can open fire on a liberal wizard if they're attempting to cast a spell on you. mcsluggo
And how often does that feeling occur when it comes to school suspensions like these and later you find no there really wasn't anything missing (other than the ability to instantly fire idiotic school adminstrators). it has been my finding that roughly 100% of the time, the eventual finding is somewhere along the lines of: 1) administative rules on prescriptive punishment for students are written overly precise and draconian in response to some story that is circulating in the blogospheres and has parents' panties all wadded up 2) administrator over-reacts applying over-reactive language to a real-world situation 3) parents over-react in their shrieking (and biased account) of the administrators' over-reactive application of over-reactive rules 4) some blog takes the biased account of the administrators' over-reactive application of over-reactive rules, and pares away any "unuseful" information that fails to support their previously held beliefs, and posts a sensationalistic account of the event 5) the users of the internet paraphrase a sensationalistic account of an administrators' over-reactive application of over-reactive rules, and collectively later themselves up into rabid orgy of indignation 6) the issue circulates through the blogosphere and gets parents' panties all wadded up the next time administrative rules are being set by a school board. 7) proceed to step 1)

mcsluggo
----------------------------------------------- edit:: (note: sometimes step one is instead precipitated by an actual real horrific news event, in which case you have to replace 1) with step 1) a new law/new regulations are written named after an actual tragic victim of a horrific act. Unfortunately the law/regulations are written influenced by legitimately concerned people armed with burning torches and pitchforks, but with little experience in actual education administration, and with little experience understanding the implications of actual administration of rules.) DaGoonie55
I don't understand how telling someone they have THE ring from a MOVIE and if you put it on, you will turn invisible, constitutes bullying or anything other than imaginative play. 88Comrade2000
Swap out Texas and Puerto Rico. Texas becomes an independent nation and Puerto Rico takes it's place. All the right wingers can them move to the new nation of Texas.

frostyj
He's been suspended twice before. The family moved to the Kermit Independent School District only six months ago, but it’s been nothing but headaches for Aiden. He’s already been suspended three times this school year. Two of the disciplinary actions this year were in-school suspensions for referring to a classmate as black and bringing his favorite book to school: "The Big Book of Knowledge." “He loves that book. They were studying the solar system and he took it to school. He thought his teacher would be impressed,” Steward said. But the teacher learned the popular children’s encyclopedia had a section on pregnancy, depicting a pregnant woman in an illustration, he explained. http://m.nydailynews.com/news/national/texas-boy-suspended-bringing-ring-power-school-article-1.2099103#bmb=1 It's obvious this kid is a threat to society and Has no business being in public. Larry
if ya don't know how laws originated your education is lacking God created them. That's why we need the Ten Commandments (King James version) in the courthouse, you know. Because that's where our laws come from.
