abdcskins
Team is playing great defense. I love how active Wiggins is. Crashing the boards. Shooting the 3 well. Good first half.
Long n Left
Again, team goes as Cowan does. Missing a ton of shots tonight, but he is keeping the TOs down some.  One of my biggest problems with Turgeon is that guys just don’t seem to develop under his tutelage. Cowan is essentially the same player as two seasons ago. You’d think that as a point guard, Turgeon would help him develop all the facets of his game, but I’m not seeing it. And, Cowan is not the only one...see Melo, Layman, and others.

abdcskins
Falling apart. Miscommunication on offense. Turnovers. No good.  I'd like to see Smith be a bit more assertive on the defensive end. He should be cleaning up the boards. He has shown a nice shooting touch tonight on the offensive end.  No damn movement. If there is no post entry pass then the ball simply moves around the arc. Dribble dribble dribble then force a turnover. Guards need to drive. Long n Left
No Turgeon coached team will ever do anything, because in crunch time, his lack of decent offensive sets will always handcuff his teams. Can’t even get a shot off.  ****ing inexcusable that in three straight trips they don’t get any kind of shot off. Ridiculous. Mooka
Did they even run any sort of play there at the end? I didn't see any picks or trying to get someone free.

I don't know how many timeouts there were in the last minute, but it felt like at least 5. Not a single play drawn up at those timeouts to get a basket. Not even on the last one. If that was a play, it was a poorly designed one. I saw one half hearted attempt at running off a screen to get the inbounds pass, but that was about it. It looked like he told the team to work to get open and take the shot when you get it. Just an awful coach. 2 minutes ago, Mooka said: Did they even run any sort of play there at the end? Long n Left
That sucked. Cowan really killed them tonight, but in his defense, they just don’t run sets that maximize what he does well. He really isn’t a good passer off the drive, always looking for the shot, and contact a la Melo. Cowan isn’t nearly as big or strong as Melo though.  Pick and roll offense doesn’t play to his strength. If he’s going to be the guy with the ball in his hands, they need to spread the floor to open up driving lanes, and give him outlets to guys poaching threes. Turgeon recruits good talent, but runs an antiquated offensive system. If I were a big time HS recruit, I would not even consider Maryland as long as Turgeon was coach.
Why am I Mr. Pink?
Tough loss. Purdue really seems like a one man team with Carsen Edwards. He got hot for a streak but he shouldnt be able to carry his team to a win against a good team. Â Terps had 10 pts from around 13 mins left in the 2nd half until the last :18 seconds of the game. (saw this on TT, didnt verify it myself). Â Dead legs = those last 5 possessions or so. There was no movement. Bruno was visibly fatigued and dead legged. I in some ways wish Cowan made better decisions bc while his guys werent moving or creating outlets ... he did have the ball for the final 8 seconds or so on each and decided to dribble it on the perimeter until the shot clock went down and then try to launch his deliberate 3. Â Why did we go away from Ayala bringing the ball up in the 2nd half? Â Why did we hesitate and get overly conservative in deciding to not feed Bruno low when he was posting up and asking for the ball? I thkn Turge had plays drawn up to feed the post but then our guys just didnt feel comfortable giving him the ball (credit purdue). Â Â Edited December 7, 2018 by Why am I Mr. Pink? volsmet
Papuchis, of Jones Lane elementary school, phenomenal RBI baseball player.  If Maryland could lock down the DMV in recruiting, basketball & football, they’d have a top 10 program in each sport. Unfortunately, people don’t go to Maryland football games.

It shouldn’t be, but I find it infuriating, I took pride in Duke players hating to play at Maryland. Irrational, but such is the human condition.
