nonniey
Probably the worst example one could use in the entire country for this scandal.I am extremely similar with the King Street Patriots. Been following them for years. They are an absolute abomination of an organization. A disgusting organization who has been a black eye to conservatives in Texas. Someone at the National Review realllllly should have done more research. Your similar to these guys?

deejaydana
Loving the progression. Word gets out that SecTreas was told that there was an investigation being conducted into this matter. "coverup!" "coverup!" "coverup!" "Lying to a Congressional investigation!" "We must have more investigation!" (It's revealed that Congress got the same information, at the same time) "We must have an investigation as to who (in the administration) knew what, and who withheld it" "As things come out it's obviously a lot worse". http://ourtowntustin.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/blazing-saddles-355.jpg We must save our phoney baloney jobs! I want you to hang in with this thread for the next year as it evolves Larry. At least you're standing your ground as it continues to crack around your feet. Monday’s revelation amounts to the fifth iteration of the Obama administration’s account of events, after initially saying that the White House had first learned of the controversy from the press. They better remember who fought for those (democrats and trial lawyers) and who fought against them (republicans and big business/Chamber of Commerce) for the last 30 plus years. China
Ron Paul: Fix IRS by shutting it ‘once and for all’ Former Rep. Ron Paul of Texas called the recent IRS fiasco troubling — but writes that the only way Congress can protect the freedoms of Americans from a long pattern of suspected IRS abuse is to “shutter the doors” of the agency “once and for all.” The longtime GOP congressman writes that IRS agents in the 1930s were essentially “hit squads” against opponents of the New Deal, and that allegations of IRS abuse spanned the administrations of Presidents Kennedy, Nixon, Clinton and George W. Bush. “The bipartisan tradition of using the IRS as a tool to harass political opponents suggests that the problem is deeper than just a few ‘rogue’ IRS agents — or even corruption within one, two, three or many administrations,” Dr. Paul writes in his weekly column, “Texas Straight Talk. “Instead, the problem [lies] in the extraordinary power the tax system grants the IRS.” The libertarian and tea party hero goes on to argue that the power of the IRS can only be countered with a complete overhaul to the country’s tax system. “The federal government will get along just fine without its immoral claim on the fruits of our labor, particularly if the elimination of federal income taxes are accompanied by serious reduction in all areas of spending, starting with the military spending beloved by so many who claim to be opponents of high taxes and big government,” he writes. sacase
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-top-irs-official-fifth-amendment-20130521,0,6645565.story Top IRS official will invoke 5th Amendment WASHINGTON — A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the 5th Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening — or why she didn’t disclose it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor III. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday. “She has not committed any crime or made any misrepresentation but under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course,” said a letter by Taylor to committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Vista). The letter, sent Monday, was obtained Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times. Taylor, a criminal defense attorney from the Washington firm Zuckerman Spaeder, said that the Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation, and that the House committee has asked Lerner to explain why she provided “false or misleading information” to the committee four times last year. This is going to end very badly.

Darrell Issa declared Thursday that the embattled IRS official who refused to testify Wednesday had no right to do so, and is now looking to haul her back before his committee. The chairman of the House oversight committee made the call after consulting with attorneys about IRS official Lois Lerner's bizarre appearance before the panel on Wednesday. Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division which oversaw the controversial targeting of conservative groups, caused confusion Wednesday morning when she pleaded the Fifth and refused to answer questions -- but also delivered an opening statement in which she asserted her innocence. Larry
I have always thought the White House Press Secretary might be the worst job in the entire world. I recall a political cartoon from the Nixon days. The scene is a White House press briefing (guy on a podium, curtain behind him, lights), but they're on a beach. Behind the speaker, on the beach, is a dead whale, labeled "Watergate". A bed sheet, labeled "coverup", has been thrown over it. All of the reporters are standing and pointing at the dead whale. Caption: "I have been personally authorized to say 'What whale?'"
