Of the ones I've seen, I'd say Good Fellas. Watch Taxi Driver asap. You talkin to me? You talkin to me? Going Commando Posted November 17, 2012 Share Posted November 17, 2012 Taxi Driver has some lines in it that make me cringe for being cliche and/or ham-handed. The "rain to wash the trash away" lines immediately come to mind. I'm thinking they're not nearly as cool now as they must have been in the 70s. Goodfellas is timeless. That got my vote. Departed is good but not super memorable when you get down to it. Not compared to his other work. I enjoyed Gangs of New York in a weird way. Kind of masochistic there. I also liked the Aviator, unpleasant as it was. Shutter Island was an absolute chore though. Even by Scorsese movie standards. Hugo was really enjoyable. Thinking about it, I'm actually not that big a fan of Scorsese compared to most. ---------- Post added November-16th-2012 at 11:26 PM ---------- It doesn't qualify here, but his Blues documentary was also excellent. But as far as personal favorite because I can watch it over and over again, I voted for Goodfellas, one of my most watched movies. I find this interesting, because 25 years ago, it was Robert DiNiro and Scorcese are great together. Gotta go with GoodFellas and then Taxi Driver. Casino is overrated, IMO. Pick6 Posted November 20, 2012 Share Posted November 20, 2012 I voted for Gangs of New York. It is one of my favorite movies and Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill the Butcher is amazing. You could wake me up at 4am on any given day, tell me we're watching it, and I'd be down. That being said, I think Goodfellas is his best film. I have always felt that Goodfellas was a bit over rated, but I've never liked Mob movies. I feel they over glorify something that shouldn't be. Usually a movie like that would be right up my ally, but it just didn't hit me right. I respect it and appreciate it, but just didn't do it for me. I voted Goodfellas.
