Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is the is the recipient of the NFL’s September Rookie of the Month Award.

That’s no surprise after Griffin completed a month in which he went 86-for-124 passing, with 1,070 yards, four touchdowns and a passer rating of 103.2. On top of that, Griffin scored four rushing touchdowns in four games, putting him on pace to break Cam Newton’s record of 14 rushing touchdowns in a season by a quarterback.

GRIFFIN III NAMED NFL OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE MONTH

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The National Football League announced today that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for September. His selection marks the second consecutive year that the Redskins have had a player earn rookie of the month honors for September, following linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, who won NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month honors in September last season. Griffin III is the first Redskin to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month since offensive tackle Chris Samuels earned the honor for the month of October during the 2000 season.

Through the first four games of his professional career, Griffin III has completed 86-of-124 passes (69.4 percent) for 1,070 yards with four touchdowns and a passer rating of 103.2. Last Sunday, he became one of three players in NFL history to pass for more than 1,000 yards in the first four weeks of a rookie season, joining Carolina’s Cam Newton (2011) and Miami’s Ryan Tannehill (2012). Griffin III leads all rookies in passing yardage, completion percentage and passer rating. With 180 passing yards on Sunday, Griffin III can join Newton as only the second player in history to throw for 1,250 yards in the first five games of his rookie season.

In addition, Griffin III has rushed 41 times for 234* yards and four touchdowns, leading all quarterbacks in each category. His four rushing touchdowns are tied for most in the league with fellow Redskins rookie Alfred Morris and Houston running back Arian Foster, and the four rushing touchdowns are tied with Joe Theismann (1979) and Eddie LeBaron (1955) for the most by a quarterback in a single season in Redskins history.

*Recent scoring changes dropped Griffin III’s rushing yardage total from 252 to 234. He is now seven yards shy of breaking Sammy Baugh’s team record for rushing yards in a season by a rookie quarterback (240), set in 1937.

Meanwhile there are still Colt fans who believe Luck has outplayed him. LOL

Terpskins! Don't you know that Andrew Luck is more cerebral than RG3, and instead of making Subway and Adidas commercials he has been studying the playbook and creating a rapport with his receivers. There is also no way RG3 will win rookie of the year with playing time lost from his inevitable Michael Vick injury. :jerk:

Oh, and RG3 doesn't like to get hit!

Well deserved RGIII, the chants continue. There was a Bucs fan that said yeah but you guys gave up like four first round picks for him, lol.

Sensational Rookies

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III: The Redskins gave up quite a bit to secure the services of RG3, and so far, it looks like an absolute bargain. Griffin is the NFL's fourth-rated passer, completing 69.4 percent or his throws while also rushing for 252 yards. He has four touchdown passes to go along with four touchdown runs. If not for a bonehead penalty by one of his receivers, he could have the Redskins tied for the lead in the NFC East.
