See this is really what is laughable, I mean the Right screamed and howled about the cult of Obama and yet right in their midst was Palin the 600 pound bag of hammers in the room and yet the Right NEVER, EVER, EVER calls out it's own for the 25% (and that's a lot of people BTW) who still worship the Wild Alaskan Dingbat. That's what is so funny, and no matter how much you want to deny it, no other politician on the Right would have ever survived the things that she's done or said and yet she has an ever present cult following. In short if she was on the Left then the Right would be having a field day...instead you're playing damage control making this about us, instead of actually looking at her and laughing for the nitwit that she is. Well, in her defense, she DID point out the theory that Sputnik and the space program hampered the Soviet economy in the long run and failed to be stimulatory. Of course, this ignores the fact thtat the Sputnik momen\t refers to the American perspective and its affect on the american economy and society, not the Soviet one. But at least she knew what Sputnik was, so Im gonna with "purposefully revisionist". IUm 90% sure she understands the concept that the Sputnik shock pretty much lit a fire under the U.S. arse and sparked a lot of governemnt investment into technology, which eventually helped propel the US economy and US technology.. However this goes against the conservative talking point that government spending cant be stimalotory. So she actually rather cleverly danced around that fact by point out the government spending on could be catastrophic, and used the Soviets experience with their space program as the example. She's not being a dumbass, she just knows that none of the people who like her have the IQ to realize the little trick she just pulled. There's difference between being a dumbass, and catering to dumbasses. In this case, Palin was doing the latter IMO. I know everyone calls Palin dumb, she's not book educated, but she is wily. The term idolatry comes into play here me thinks. Perhaps I should focus on her FUTURE presidential bid in which she is not doubt to be amongst the favorites. You see despite the fact that you can't bring yourself to defend the dingbat you can't hide the fact that so so so so many of your fellow "conservatives" love her so dearly that she wields power within the party.
