One more thought....I knew we were going to be picking #1 last year...I just had a gut feeling we'd win the lottery...this year I'm almost certain we will be picking at #5. Who do we take at 5?

Ugh. Can you check your gut feeling again? See if you can't get it to tell you we'll be picking in the top 3.

If we're picking five and the first three picks are Williams, Irving, and Kanter, then Bismack is all I've got. Him or Valanciunas I guess. I'd also consider Kemba and Brandon Knight but the options are pretty thin. Maybe there are some other Euros worth a look.

Yeah...i was thinking Bismack at #5 which I think is a huge reach. But I don't think kemba or B Knight have enough upside to pick when we already have our starting and backup PGs of the future.

I know many of you would disagree with taking Irving over Kanter, but I think Irving is the best player in the draft with the highest ceiling by far and I'd have to take the better talent.
I agree. The difference between Irving to Barnes and P. Jones wasn't that big when you got down to it so passing on Irving wasn't so bad. But the difference from him to Kanter seems steep. I know you're supposed to go big over guards when you've got the chance but Kanter is too much of an unknown. His lack of a season plus his supposed knee troubles terrify me. We can't **** this lottery pick up.

Irving will fit once we find a way to make it work. Wall is a big guard so you're right, he can defend opposing 2s. And Jesus, GACOLB says he's growing and might end up 6'6? That's freaking awesome! He negates the size disadvantage you'd get from Irving (who really isn't that short when you get down to it) in the same way Jason Kidd can play alongside Jason Terry and not have your defense be awful. Plus he gives you another elite facilitator which in turn helps Wall attack. Our ball movement on offense would be sick with two guys with vision like that. Wall's assist numbers would be cut into, but who would care? We'd be impossible to defend. Irving is an efficiency shooter who spaces out the defense unlike everyone else on the team outside NY.

You wouldn't have to move NY or Jammal Crawford if you draft Irving because he brings something a little bit different to the table than each of them. He's got rare all around offensive skills that the rest of our guards lack. He passes and handles as well as he shoots which you can't say the same about Wall/Crawford/Young. Start Wall and Irving and use a lineup of Young at the 3 to have deadly catch and shooters. Throw Crawford end when you need energy and you need another penetrator/clutch scorer.

If we draft Irving, we'd easily have the best guards in the entire league. Our deficiencies at the 3 would hardly be an issue any more because the offense from one and two would be so good. We could just play Booker there for his defense or Young for his offense. Give us one big time post player and we'd be dangerous. I wish Bismack wasn't considered a lottery pick now because I'd have loved to get him with the Atlanta pick. I still like McGee for his defensive abilities once he figures it all out. Maybe that'd be our final piece to look for in the 2012 offseason? Maybe a DeMarcus Cousins deal could get done?

Then with the second first rounder this year I'd definitely be up for taking Singleton or the kid from UCLA that GACOLB likes. Faried sounds great too but I'm not sure he's going to give us much in the way of offense.

In the second round I want us to draft my boy Justin Harper. He's a big with pure offensive skills to compliment the defensive specialists (McGee, Seraphin, Booker, Faried?).

Here's a question for everybody: Would you all trade for DeMarcus Cousins? Let's say he wears out his welcome in Sacramento by the trade deadline of the first season back from the lockout.

If so, what would you all be willing to give up? Let's say we get lucky and draft either Irving or Williams this year. I'd probably do it for two of these four assets Blatche/Young/McGee (and if it's 2012-2013) Rashard Lewis' expiring contract. I'd also consider Jordan Crawford doesn't really make sense as part of that package unless they move Tyreke Evans to SF, but if we had Irving, I'd consider including him if they wanted him.

Let's do that deal for Lewis' contract, Blatche, and maybe a future first rounder.

This is an interesting 10 man, super young roster:

PG: Wall, Irving, Crawford

SG: Irving, Crawford, Young

SF: Honeycutt, Young, Booker

PF: McGee, Booker, Harper

C: Cousins, McGee, Seraphin

In lottery draft history, the 4th worst team (which is us this year) has only won the lottery once (San Antonio, 1987)
So we're due then? Honestly, I'd just be thrilled with picking in the top two.

If you're taking Kemba or Knight then you're ceiling with them is as a good sixth man I guess. That's pretty low upside from a 5th overall pick. Knight's probably a slight upgrade over Crawford but the passing skills are worse and he's not really any better of a shooter. Plus Crawford and Wall already have chemistry and work well together. Probably shouldn't mess that up unless it's for a true blue-chipper like Irving.

I don't even know why we are discussing Riving. No way are we getting back to back number one picks. If we get the second pick or third pick, it should be Kanter.

I wouldn't mind Kyrie Irving, even though he is from Duke :puke: , but we aren't getting the number one pick.

Man, if we can end up with a player NEARLY as good as SA did...

I'm probably in the minority but if the Wiz had to take a guard, I'd rather have Kemba.

I have Knight has my #1 PG he can go anywhere he wants with ball in hand and get his shot off the dribble. He is long armed and very good on ball defender. I love Kemba though but think he will strictly be a PG. I think Knight can play both spots equally well and will continue to grow much like Wall.

I think the Wiz have to draft BPA period. One of the 3 guards will be very valuable trade bait to get that missing piece when your ready to contend.

No one?

Does anyone think we should fire Flip Saunders? He is hindering john wall imo

How can you say that when he just had one of the best seasons for a rookie PG ever?

Flips not going anywhere this offseason. Guarantee it.

In lottery draft history, the 4th worst team (which is us this year) has only won the lottery once (San Antonio, 1987)

And only one team in lotto history has won it back to back.

How ****ing lucky was Orlando? Back to back HOF-caliber players. And they got **** out of it.

Weren't the Generals that team that wore green that the Globetrotters always destroyed? lol

2;495 game losing streak, lol. The story about how they finally ended it and beat the Globetrotters is hilarious:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Generals#Beating_the_Harlem_Globetrotters

Beating the Harlem Globetrotters

The Reds defeated the Globetrotters 100-99 on January 5, 1971 in Martin, Tennessee. It ended a 2,495-game winning streak –and was Harlem’s only loss between 1962 and 1995. Klotz credits the overtime win to a guard named Eddie Mahar, who was team captain. [3] Harlem's captain, Curly Neal, did not play in this game. [4] While the Globetrotters were entertaining the crowd that day, they lost track of the game and the score. They found themselves down 12 points with two minutes left to go. Forced to play normal basketball, the Globetrotters rallied but could not recover. [5] The Reds secured their victory when Klotz hit the winning basket with seconds left. Then Meadowlark Lemon missed a shot that would have given the game back to Globetrotters. The timekeeper tried to stop the clock and couldn't. When the final buzzer sounded, the crowd was dumbfounded and disappointed. [6] Klotz described the fans' reaction: "They looked at us like we killed Santa Claus." [7] Some children in the stands cried after the loss. [4] The Reds celebrated by dousing themselves with orange soda instead of champagne. Lemon was furious, saying "You lost, I didn't lose," but still visited the opposing team’s locker room to congratulate the Reds. [6] Reds player Roy Kieval later said Globetrotters owner Abe Saperstein threatened his team over the event, even though he had died in 1966, five years prior to the event. [6] As this was kayfabe basketball, it is uncertain how much, if any, of the upset story was an angle created to promote Globetrotters games. Both teams claimed that all their exhibitions were real, competitive contests.

i'm not sure I trust our current staff enough to make a Wall/Irving combo work out in the long run

This staff has actually done a pretty good job developing and utilizing the guards. It's the front court players they've lagged on IMO.

Getting Wall and Crawford on the court playing effectively together was a bigger challenge than getting Wall and Irving to play together would be. Neither are shooters of the caliber Irving is.

Would you be opposed to us drafting Irving if we had a shot at him and Derrick Williams is off the board?

He's easily the first or second best player in the class mind you.

Do you all think Carmelo is a fair best case scenario for Derrick Williams?

He's a bit heavier and stronger and a bit slower but I can see a lot of similarities otherwise.

As far as an offensive player, I'd definitely say no. I think Williams is very different from Melo. I'd say a bigger more intense Shawn Marion. I see Williams being a stretch 4 who locks down smaller PFs and bigger SFs.

you, Slacky, chipwich, and ACW should all get a hotel room and just have a giant man orgy - the sexual tension is too high

Hey I essentially said the same thing a couple of days ago after chipwhich kept bugging me about if I'm old enough to drink and how he'll buy alcohol for me. The **** creeps me out as much as anyone.
