Will Florida steal Shanahan from Redskins?

Seems only fair since Washington hired away Steve Spurrier from Florida in 2002.

Wait, does this mean the Gators are gonna bite the Redskins in the butt again by this time taking the coach they want after letting Washington have one it didn’t want anymore?

Urban Meyer’s surprise retirement from arguably the best college program suddenly has Mike Shanahan-to-Gainesville rumors on the front end of everyone’s radar. The biggest reason why Shanahan might choose a college program over the NFL is money.

Danny will offer more money than Florida would, I think, but I'm not sure about the difference between college coach salaries and NFL coach salaries. If it's similar, then Danny will get him because money is no object to him.

Not so fast!!!!

ESPN: Source: Meyer rethinking retirement

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4774134

Florida coach Urban Meyer, who announced Saturday night that he would step down after coaching the Gators against Cincinnati in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day, is now having second thoughts about retirement, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com on Sunday.

Under a plan being discussed, Florida offensive coordinator Steve Adazzio would coach the Gators in the Sugar Bowl. Meyer, who cited health concerns as the reason for his retirement, would take a leave of absence and return to the team before the 2010 season.

Shanny wants no part of Lane Kiffin and Tennessee

:D

He beat him enough in Oakland.

Tennessee is to college ball what Oakland is to the NFL. A previous decent franchise who is bottom of the barrel. They are the SEC's new Vanderbilt.

Any success they had this year is despite Kiffin. You'll see what his recruiting gets you. He'll take a top 10 recruiting class and have half of them transfer out by year 3.

Meyer was getting paid around 5 million a year as the SEC's highest paid coach.

Shanahan will require at least 12 or 13 million a year just to come out of retirement and buy out the rest of his Denver contract.

Shanahan to UF is just a few Gators fans grasping for something when they heard Meyer was leaving.

He's an NFL coach by design, and the money difference doesn't hurt either.

No disregard for Florida but the Redskins are an NFL team. A college job is still a college job.

Shanahan wants to win a Super Bowl and regain his stature in professional football. Plus he wants to set the table for his son to become a future head coach. Most of the staff he is rumored to have engaged to follow him are NFL assistants.

Besides if Snyder has to, he will offer Shanahan the $11-$12M to make up for the difference in monies involved.

Want to also tell us who next year's champions will be?

Kiffin has put Tennessee back on the map with his controversial comments, and is turning the Vols back into a team recruits want to be a part of. The organization had grown stagnant with Fulmer heading it. Kiffin has energized it.
