Total luck on my part I met him like that.  I saw a ton of fighters around town, most at MGM and a lot more at the fan expo, but Im not they type of guy to go up to a celbrity and ask for a photo, I feel dorky doing it.  I saw GSP in the airport on the way back and just gave him a head nod.

I would have typically gone to my room, seen my phone was dying and charged it/surfed the web for a bit.  When I got to the room, I just wanted to leave it so quickly-and didnt want to get a text from the nurse about a November trip because I prob would have thrown my phone at the bronze lion.  Even if I had gotten down to the elevator 10 seconds later, security would have stopped me, or even if I had seen him walking through the casino with a big security detail, there is no way I would bum rush them trying to get close or take a picture of Anderson, that's just not my style.

Last night talked to a few boys about the fight, and yeah the fight was massively dissapointing, no doubt, but after finishing talking about the fight, I have a stupid s*** eating grin on my face.  No way that happens without the 3 minute (probably closer to like 1 minute, felt like a lifetime) conversation I had with Silva.

Guess the sun shines even on a dog's ass some days!

My sister's BF randomly met Rampage in TX when he was waiting for a connecting flight back home. Rampage actually took his seat when he got up to check the flight schedule chart, and Rampage offered it back to him realizing he was only getting up for a second.

They talked for awhile and he took some pics.  Said he was a pretty cool dude.

Well, AMHOF, your favorite fighter may have lost, but we have ALL gone through it. You should feel lucky Anderson is your fave, you've experienced disappointment approximately 1 time. Welcome to the club. I'm currently at around 15 disappointments.

Maybe try to look at it this way - you got to witness maybe the most shocking and historical moment in MMA history. A ton of fans have stories about seeing Anderson mess somebody up live. It's like saying you got to see Mike Tyson KO someone. If you were there for Buster Douglas, however, you witnessed boxing history.

To be honest I think that fight is going to be a war and we'll see both men take big shots. Could shape up to be a legendary rivalry. I hope so, Weidman is so underrated it baffles the mind.

Who lands an elbow like the one he hit Munoz with. I see it in Muay Thai, but it's more of a quick snap in a combo. Weidman threw the H-bomb of elbows and ****ing murdered Mark. He also outgrappled Damien God Damn Maia and has won by standing guillotine - which is insanely boss.

Then he takes Silva down right away and lands some flush bombs to his face. The first hook reminded me of the H-bomb on Babalu. Anderson saw it though, and can somehow shake it off, but he took a few more bombs before Weidman almost torked out a kneebar. Weidman is insane.

I can't wait for this fight.

UFC middleweight Brian Stann retires from MMA to focus on broadcasting, family

UFC middleweight Brian Stann, a former WEC light heavyweight champion, has announced his retirement from the sport.

Stann (12-6 MMA, 6-5 UFC) exits the sport after a "Fight of the Night" loss to Wanderlei Silva in March in what will be his final fight. Stann confirmed his retirement to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com); he made his official announcement on "The MMA Hour."

Stann will now focus his career on broadcasting and his family. On Wednesday, FOX Sports announced the Atlanta-area resident is part of the new Atlantic Coast Conference football crew for FOX Sports South. Since the UFC's broadcast deal with FOX began in 2012, Stann has been active as an analyst for both FOX and FUEL TV's pre- and post-fight UFC event coverage.

"Yesterday, news broke that I'm going to be branching out and doing some college football," Stann said on the show. "But a couple months ago, I had made the decision and just wasn't sure when I would announce it, that I was no longer going to continue fighting. So I wanted to use this opportunity to say thank you. The relationships and experiences I've gotten from fans and fellow fighters have honestly made me a much better person. I leave fighting having taken more from fighting I have ever gave."

I had a feeling this may be coming, but it still sucks. Excellent fighter, a great ambassador for the sport, and just a great American. Even though it was a loss, he certainly went out on a high note with his fight against Wanderlei.

You are right on that account, I do feel lucky Andy is my fave, and lucky that I got to meet him.  I did get a chance to see history with that fight, and a few years from now, the story of that fight will probably be more interesting than the rematch fight story.  To tell the truth though, there is no way I could have gotten into that state of mind without meeting Silva, it really changed my whole perspective on the fight and a guess life in general a bit.  Had that not happened, if people would have asked me how was the fight, I would have responded "what fight? I didnt see a fight. I saw an arrogant Brazilian throw away his belt."  Felt that way right up until he said "well, now you see me!"

I am torn about going to see the rematch live, if it is Vegas and the summer, hell no, Im built for the cold.  Saying it's a dry heat doesnt make a lick of difference when the tempurature is 20 degrees above your body tempurature. Im not much of a Vegas guy either, probably only gambled for 4 hours-including 3 hours at a poker tournament- & Im not into the "look at me, my table & bottles" at the clubs, which is really the only way you can do the bigger clubs in Vegas, nor do I care for the shows or am I a foodie, or have a beach body for the day clubs.  Also, Vegas is kind of a chick town now, for every bachelor party I saw (largest group was 6, most 4 or less) I saw at least 10 bachelorette parties (those groups had 5 at the fewest, most rolled 10 to 12 deep).

Just read an article that Dana will talk to Anderson today, and Dana is getting giddy for a Cowboys Stadium Show.  I kinda want to see that stadium, but definetly dont want to watch the Cowboys play in it, so if that is where it is, I think I will be going.  I was planning on going there to see a Superfight-if they ever happened- so if Dana could pull off a Cowboy Stadium show by the end of the year, giddy up.  Evne though I still have to buy a new furnace, I bet Dallas could be done cheaply, even buy cheapest seats and just watch the big screen.  Plus I wouldnt feel compeled to stay 4 or 5 days in Dallas like I did Vegas, prob fly in day before or of fight, fly out late afternoon after the fight.

Any ES'ers with me on this one? If he does lose again, you guys can have the fun of watching me destroy the crap out of a Cowboys Stadium bathroom, Im sure the ES Stadium crowd would love to see video of that!  I'd destroy half of it for Silva, half of it for the Skins.

I went solo last time, it is $300 cheaper this time for the room Thursday to Sunday than for 162. Monday Dec 30, & Dec 31, are stupid expensive, like 2.5x & 3x regular room rate. I was thinking NYE in Vegas, but after those prices, no thank you. Plus fight gets out 10:30 latest, Saturday night before NYE should be crazy enough anyways, there is always a party going on.

Cyborg mauled Coenen in their rematch.

For all the chatter from her camp about how technically great she is, all I see from most of her fights is just a bigger strong woman overpowering opponents.  Nothing wrong with that, and it could lead her to eventually beating Rousey too, but I am just tired of hearing about what a great fighter she is.  Coenen supposedly got stronger for the rematch and it sure didn't matter.  Every time she went for a clinch or takedown, Cyborg basically would use her strength to just fall on top of her backwards.

Cyborg is the Fedor of WMMA. After dominating for so long, they didn't come to the UFC to fight the most popular champ of all time. Another incredible matchup never to happen.

When they were both in Strikeforce, Rousey dropped to 135 instead of fighting Cyborg

Yeah, she ducked her. Ronda knew at that point she had very little chance against Cyborg. Way too inexperienced, she admitted it, it was clear to everyone. The only reason a fighter at that point in a career gets a title shot is because the talent pool is a wasteland. Even at this point Ronda may be too inexperienced. The fact is that Cyborg is a beefed up product of serious roiding and extra weightlifting. If she cut that **** out, ran and biked a lot more, and ate her leafy vegetables, she'd be able to make 135. Whining about it gets you an Invicta contract.

Rousey belongs at 135, IMO.

If you look at the size difference between girls like Cyborg/Carano and Rousey, Rousey is naturally more petite.

I think there's a better chance of someone like Tate who is a little meatier naturally to move up to 145.

The dilemma with with Cyborg is how many true 145lb opponents are there for her?  She can claim "medical this, medical that" for why she can't go to 135, but the truth is, look at her muscle-mass, she could drop some of it and probably make it if she wanted to, but in doing that she knows damn well she would lose part of her biggest advantage which is strength.

She has made most of her career out of beating 135lbers who moved up by getting bloated just to take a high profile fight for a better pay day.

Marlos Coenen has 10x the technique of Cyborg, but it didn't matter in that fight one bit.

'Rampage' Jackson vs. Roy Jones Jr. boxing bout targeted for year-end PPV

Viacom is expected to announce plans to go head-to-head with pay-per-view juggernaut Zuffa LLC and its UFC 168 offering at next week's Bellator 97 event on Spike TV.

An unveiling of Bellator fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's plans with the promotion will likely include a pay-per-view boxing match with former multi-division boxing champ Roy Jones Jr., multiple sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/07/quinton-jackson-vs-roy-jones-jr-boxing-bout-targeted-for-year-end-ppv

Yuck. I was not excited for a potential Anderson Silva-Roy Jones fight. I am sure not going to be excited for Rampage-Jones.

And they are going to try and go against Silva-Weidman II with this? I feel like this is a bad idea on many levels.
