Where is the Outrage over Boeing 737-MAX?

And that is a problem how? It is not my answer it is standard pilot op with runaway trim, reduce pressure on the surface and it moves easier.

I miss Splinter Cell so much. Chaos Theory was so freaking good. Immediately nose-dived after Double Agent. Both versions of DA, by the way, were pretty good and worth experiencing. Then Conviction happened and completely threw out the gameplay mechanics that made the game so popular. No hiding of bodies, there's literally a "kill everybody in the room" button, and you can't even TRY to sneak around like you used to. Instead of carefully tilting the joystick forward to creap ever so slowly and silently towards your target, movement speed is binary; full speed or full stop. What the **** were they thinking there? Then whatever that other one was called thought it would be a good idea to replace the iconic Michael Ironside with some child and try to pass him off as a 50-year-old grizzled veteran. Sorry, but no, Sam Fisher was already getting to be "too old for this ****" back in Chaos Theory, but three games later he's found the fountain of youth and is younger than ever? Ugh. I didn't bother to spend enough time with the games post Double Agent to see if the story was still any good, but what I'd heard wasn't promising. I might have to go back for another playthrough of the only 4(ish) games in the series that count.
  4. The problem with the current strategy on immigration is that it is based on handling the situation after the fact, when desperate people are arriving at the border. If you truly want to reduce people from coming here (not the ones who can afford to go through the legal process, waiting years....or student visas etc etc.....I am referring to the people fleeing their countries out of desperation) then you need to put resources into studying and fixing or at least play a part in fixing the issues that cause these folks to want to flee in the first place. Much like the "war on drugs" did little to address the problem of why people were using in the first place (nor looked to help people get off the drugs) and simply looked for the easiest back end fix. You can stop as many people as you want from getting in, but the fact that they are still showing up in mass means you are failing on the actual problem(s). As a country I absolutely do think we have a right to control the flow of immigrants/immigration into our country, that is the right of a sovereign nation, but when you have guy like Trump who comes up with fear tactics and blatant racism in order to push his asinine policies it's no wonder that it pushes Democrats to the sidelines who actually want to address the same issues in good faith. I know we are supposed to believe all these folks are just showing up because gosh darn everyone loves America, but that simply isn't true. They are fleeing because they are scared to death to be where they are, and they likely don't view the countries they are passing through on the way here to be much safer. Also, for America/Americans to act like our foreign policy aka the drug wars haven't played a major part in a lot of the situations in central America is being downright naive or purposely ignorant.

Frankly, one of my worst fears is a deep ocean crash, because even if you strike gold and survive impact, your reward is likely being eaten by a shark, or slowly dying if hunger and thirst on a flotation device. Not many worse ways to go in this world

Where is the Outrage over Boeing 737-MAX?

Or if you read the entire article smart ass, there are situations that might require both pilots to turn the crank, then what? God you are so ****ing insufferable... Think you have the answer to everything.

She has to overcome quite a few policy hurdles. I do not think the majority of the county is represented by the far right/Trump. I also don’t think the far left represents them. I’m hearing lots of pushback on these changes to the fundamental way we work. The free college, student load debt forgiveness, etc. its funny cause I hear concern and lack of understanding about Medicare for all. I hear angry push back at the others. And these are people that do not like trump and consider the dems the only reasonable party at the moment. Ive said all along my concern is that the overly progressive agenda is going to earn trump 4 more years. It’s a real concern and I feel like I’m watching it play out before my eyes. Its probably the only good thing Biden brings. People who aren’t progressive but hate trump can feel comfortable voting for him. I feel like they’ve already decided they can’t vote for warren. I may be overly pessimistic.
  10. I admit I totally abhor the methods he is using. But I do agree that immigration is a major issue and think a firm position needs to be taken. Though I don't agree with the methods currently employed. His ends are wrong and his means are barbaric. Something needs to be done. What he is doing is wrong but at least he is bringing attention to something that needs attention.

    Random Thought Thread

****in poseidon adventure coming back from Rockville. Good grief. Think I got a seahorse stuck in my ear.
  12. Hmmmm I thought it was the one that started this thread but that’s not right. It may have been another thread that died out as this became the main discussion. Possible it was just in this thread somewhere but I felt like it was its own thread... anyways it was an article about the mistreatment of children crossing the border in these detention centers. Part (the main part?) of the criticism revolved around the doctors seeing the children. Doctors notes were part of it (they may have been leaked?). The article was either late 2017 or early 2018. But 3 of the doctors notes (with different patients) dates to 2016, before trump took office. Or maybe it was 2 in 2016 and 1 in January before the inauguration. Anyways, the point of the article (and the conversation in the thread) was the slam the trump admin. I remember having a conversation with a few people over the course of a page or two about how the doctors notes dated back to the Obama admin. The only reason it think it’s important to note is the trump admin is taking all the heat for this. And they deserve to be ridiculed. But it lets a lot of other people skate that contributed to this problem, and some way more than the rest. The reason I bring it up here is this idea of it being malicious. If the mistreatment if these children and the policy in general is malicious (as opposed to the result of politicians not doing their job, and a system being immensely overloaded) then the maliciousness dates back to the Obama admin (at least.) theres a lot if words to describe it. I don’t think malicious fits. (Although I consider trump, in general, to be a malicious person) (oh I realize that’s not a link to the article. It’s not where I thought it was. I’m hoping this will jog your memory enough we can move on? Seems minor anyways)

Well, he has 2 failed campaigns to prove your point. I think Elizabeth Warren is the one to watch. The whole Indian heritage thing is her Achilles heel and Trump will pound her with it. Plenty of men, who will never vote for a woman and even some women won't for a women. If she can somehow overcome that, she can give Trump a good fight. IF I were to pick who the nominee will be right now, I'll say it's her.

Maybe this will be a perfect storm for Warren. If she wins, who would be a good running mate for her? Excited for the debates. I hope they wear name tags.

I agree. My imagination has no problem imagining how it would happen. The plane shudders and tilts towards eventual meeting with the ground... but takes entirely too long to get there. Passengers are left with an unreasonable amount of time to contemplate death before meeting it. That time is just prolonged misery, that’s the part that makes it especially horrible.

I specifically remember the ‘con’ of Obama choosing Biden was that Biden tended to say stupid and/or offensive stuff way too often. Im starting to think he’ll tank his own campaign and we don’t have to worry about 4 years of Biden.
