the guy wants 25M without even winning a ****ing playoff game. You guys are acting like we ready to run Tom Brady out of town. This isn't unreasonable

Tannehill, makes 19M, Tyrod Taylor makes $18M.  Do you understand economics or supply and demand?

I firmly believe the Redskins fanbase will never allow the franchise to have  a HOF QB because they will literally run every QB out of town before his time truly shines.  Do you realize it takes 4-5 years to establish yourself as elite?

Well, a couple things...

1) No matter what town a QB plays in, he's going to have to deal with questions and fans who expect perfection.

2) The fans really have no impact on "running him out of town" - if he has the trust of the team, coaches, and front office he will be here.

Absolutely not, and that's the pathetic thing here.

Only way some people are happy is if they have a QB that never throws a pick, EVER.  NO PICKS.  Christ, Major Harris, we can never have a QB that throws a pick.

The complaint is not that he's not perfect.  The issue is how much do you pay a player that is not viewed as a franchise QB.  What do you consider is too much too pay to keep Cousins long term?  Or do you give him whatever he wants?

I think the future of the NFL should just be, like, quarterback skill challenges or something.  Because with takes like this, there's no reason to have the rest of a football team.  Just have QBs show up, do something and then have them be on their way because if a QB is solely responsible for winning a playoff game, what do the rest of the schmucks on the roster have to do with anything?

Drew Brees hasn't won a playoff game since 2013, what a piece of **** that guy is.

Yeah, does he really?  Do you see Kirk huddled up in the fetal position on the sidelines after throwing picks?  Or do you see him running up and down the field after throwing a touchdown and getting absolutely TOO happy?  And how do each of these emotions effect him on the field, directly?

Well when he doesn't play well in big games he often is seen shaking his head or holding his head down.

Ive also seen him looked wrecked at the start of a new game which makes it seem like he was too hyped mentally pregame and it took over emotionally.

What's the definition of a franchise QB?

...I work in finance.

theres something called risk and reward.

Bills are about to get rid of Taylor. Dolphins can probably make a case about not needing to pay Tannehill with how they've performed with Matt Moore.

There's something to be said for not following the crowd and ****ing yourself. There isn't a correlation between future success and being a top paid QB

The list of those guys is terrifying

Lol yep fans run players out of town.

How the **** did Jason Campbell play here so long???

And then you arbitrarily throw out a time frame to become elite based on nothing. Ok

Jason Campbell played here for five years.  The length of one contract.  The first year he never saw action

For as bad as Cousins was and he SUCKED yesterday, there are not many alternatives except for Colt McCoy or Nate Sudfeld.  Cousins, IF he is back, has a lot of work to do.  Hopefully that performance sticks with him.  It's going to stick with us all summer long.  They can't afford to start all over or invest yet another draft pick in a QB.  The defense needs major help.  Letting him walk would be a DISASTER at this point.

1) Kirk does not have Brees' talent so I'm confused as to why you're comparing him

2) Brees' contract may been hurting the team...

Kirk absolutely needs to be signed, he is the best QB this franchise has had in the past 20 - 30 years.  After yesterday, we get a little discount now for his services.  Anything else would be assinine.

We aren't getting a discount.

We can't even have a reasonable discussion in this thread. People are acting like getting rid of Kirk is somehow the end of this franchise. He's a decent player who puts up decent numbers but shrinks when the lights get bright. Maybe that will change and I'm not saying just to walk away from the guy. All I'm saying is if he has unreasonable demands than you have to explore other options. You can't just give into his demands because our QBs in the past sucked.

Do some research to find out what he will most likely get paid by any team that might sign him this offseason.  It's not that hard.  He's going to get his money regardless.

You don't want him.  Fine,...and you'd rather have Colt start.  Prepare for a drop off offensively.  There's a reason Colt's a backup,..and that's because he's a backup QB in this league.

Defense is currently atrocious.  Even with a very good draft and some FA pickups I'm not confident they can get it to where it would need to be to compete for even 7-8 wins with Colt at QB.  But -- if you're looking long term and are willing to suck for possibly a couple of years with Colt starting to "build" the defense and maybe hope Sudfeld develops?  Ok -- but that's a big roll of the dice too.

Researching fair market value is irrelevant.  You're missing the point.  The production we get out of Colt McCoy is probably comparable to what we get out of Kirk Cousins, but at a much lower cost (so we can apply that to other positions).

Well find an "elite, franchise, qb that can win playoff games" or whatever cliche phrases can be thrown around that isn't getting paid, that doesn't have a huge contract.

I would slightly agree that he doesn't have Brees talent.  The other hilarious thing about this thread is that people are acting like the book has been written on Cousins, like this is as good as he'll ever be or can be.

Everyone of these teams would love to have Cousins.

Definitely. And his contract would certainly tank most of those teams because of the lack of talent on their rosters.

Kirk is not gonna elevate a poor offensive unit and every one of those teams lack real talent on offense except maybe Buffalo

Then find out what they're willing to give up for him. They can pay him the richest contract in league history and regret it two years from now.
