LadySkinsFan
Josh Duggar resigned his position as Executive Director of the Family Research Council due to the disclosure that he sexually molested some of his sisters and another girl when he was 14. Fox News source: http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2015/05/21/duggar-sibling-sexually-assaulted-sisters-another-female-according-to-police-report/ Yahoo Celebrity source: https://celebrity.yahoo.com/blogs/celeb-news/josh-duggar-named-in-underage-sex-abuse-scandal--report-195532368.html The only adults that acted in a responsible manner to report these crimes were members of the Oprah Winfrey Show. From the Yahoo article: "When the family was scheduled to appear on Winfrey’s talk show in 2006, someone sent an email to the show warning them about the alleged molestation. Harpo Studios faxed the letter to the Department of Human Services hotline. The report was then opened for investigation, leading to the investigation by Springdale police." Unfortunately the statute of limitations had run out for those types of crimes, so Josh Duggar was not prosecuted.

Destino
All sorts of terrible going on here. After repeated "mistakes" (sexual assaults) his parents took him to a state trooper friend. From the yahoo link.... "When Josh returned, the Duggars still did not contact authorities. Instead, they took him to Arkansas State Trooper Jim Hutchens's home. He was a Duggar family friend. According to the report, Hutchens did not take any official action and instead gave Josh a "very stern talk." In Touch reports that Hutchens is now serving 56 years in prison for child pornography." ... That just happened to be a pedophile. Yikes.

StillUnknown
"We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life." "those affected by my actions" - that's a hell of a way to clean up "my victims" "I would end up ruining my life" - no thoughts to lives of his victims. Springfield
Every kid makes mistakes. Some worse than others. There is a distinct difference between a 14 year old spending 7 minutes in heaven with some 13 year old girl at a party and a 14 year old feeling up an 11 year old while she's sleeping. There is an even larger difference when that person is your sibling. Sexual contact with those related to you is among the most despicable things a human could ever do. The fact that religious folks will defend this guy for forcing his siblings into incest while condemning homosexuality makes me lose faith in organized religion to an extent. Destino
I can understand why a family would act like they did wanting to save all of their kids instead of doing the objectively right thing and reporting a very serious crime. I imagine that it's no small thing turning a child over to the justice system, knowing how horrible the consequences can be, when you think he can be saved. I'm not excusing the decision those parents made, only acknowledging that it would be a great deal harder in their shoes than from outside looking in. In the end however, a teenager that sexually abused several kids got away with it. No getting around that.

Duckus
I wonder if Lena Dunham's family got counseling for her and her victims. Ummmm... a 7 year girl touching her siblings privates non-sexually, randomly one-time isn't equivalent of a 14 year old sexually molesting 5 girls. If you don't see that, I don't know what to say. Not saying Lena Dunham is normal. She is weird, but her story of being 7 is a lot different... "Do we all have uteruses?" I asked my mother when I was seven. "Yes," she told me. "We're born with them, and with all our eggs, but they start out very small. And they aren't ready to make babies until we're older." I look at my sister, now a slim, tough one-year-old, and at her tiny belly. I imagined her eggs inside her, like the sack of spider eggs in Charlotte's Webb, and her uterus, the size of a thimble. "Does her vagina look like mine?" "I guess so," my mother said. "Just smaller." One day, as I sat in our driveway in Long Island playing with blocks and buckets, my curiosity got the best of me. Grace was sitting up, babbling and smiling, and I leaned down between her legs and carefully spread open her vagina. She didn't resist and when I saw what was inside I shrieked. My mother came running. "Mama, Mama! Grace has something in there!"

That's creepy You 1. Yes. That many kids is strange. 2. Parents protecting their children. What an odd concept. That almost never happens. 3. I don't see him defending anyone. I got the idea that maybe he thought the vitrol expressed for the actions of a young-teen were a bit over the top. I don't defend what he did either. Just thought I'd that *that* out there before i get accused of defending the Duggar.

Kosher Ham
A young teen, vitriol, haha. Is the vitriol not deserved ? This is an absolutely horrible situation and these young women/girls were victims. Then you add on the scumbag cop that simply had a sit down with him, and the ignorant parents...that alone makes it creepy, disturbing, disgusting, immoral, etc., and those are the nice words. PF Chang
I think the question is what's NOT creepy about them. "Don't be afraid to get involved in your kids' relationships," Jim Bob tells parents. For the first half of their courtship, Jessa and Ben's texts were group texts with Jim Bob and Michelle. ...she was 20 years old

And yet, all of the "details" (that I have read) are based on the article I linked, which says that "sources who say they read the police report say..." I'm not defending what he did. Its disgusting. However, do you know for a fact what exactly he did? Did you read the police report? Are you one of the unnamed "sources" who knows the details? Or are you just guessing based on media speculation? Seriously though, you seem to come across as defending this situation because of religion. Also kind of creepy as not one poster attacked or mentioned religion.
