Enzo
Just want to get everyone's opinion on Bobby Beathard once again being snubbed by the pro football hall of fame selection committee. http://www.redskinshistorian.com/content/legendary-redskins-gm-bobby-beathard
DiscoBob
I think he ought to come back to the skins and kick the Allen to the curb.

NewCliche21
I thought Bobby Beathard was another nickname for Robert lol Dude, really? If you're asking that, then you should be asleep right now because you have to wake up early for third grade tomorrow. You cannot be a massive die hard fan over the age of 16 and not know who the architect of our Super Bowls was. Beathard's contributions in that time were almost equal to St. Joe's. SkinsFTW
I doubt the HOF means alot to him but yeah he should be in there but no we don't want him back. He's got to be 80 but that doesn't mean that I approve of the Snyder/Allen setup either.
drowland
The Ryan Leaf selection still haunts his legacy. Which is crazy considering he took over a dumpster fire of a franchise in SD and got them to a SB. Bobby B was ahead of his time and deserves to be in the HOF. hail2skins
Just out of curiosity.......how many guys whose NFL claim to fame is general manager are in the HOF? I honestly don't know.
Brokenstriker
... apparently John Mara controls the HoF selection committee along with the rest of NFL operations

Jim Finks and Tex Schramm. So it is hard for a GM to get in. Someone brought up Mara and King as opposition for BB. I know King's pushed for George Young so there's probably some truth to that. Weren't you supposed to 'take care' of Peter King awhile back, for the goodness of the fanbase?

After he left the Skins he made a winner out of the Chargers too. The man knew football talent.

Riggo-toni
Travesty, plain and simple. Scout for the KC Chiefs - multiple SB appearances and a title. Director of Player Personnel Miami Dolphins -multiple SB titles and a perfect season. GM for Redskins - Multiple SB titles (and let's give him credit for 91 since he put together the core of that team. Casserly was Beathard's Barry Switzer GM San Diego - gets them to their only SB. Apparently some of you weren't paying attention- Beathard agreed to come back here as GM for Spurrier, which was part of the appeal that lured SOS here. He was looking at houses in the area. Snyder lowballed him at a 500k salary, which he agreed to and gave Snyder the number of his agent to hammer out the details. When Snyder's rep called Beathard's agent, his agent asked for additional incentives for playoff appearances, wins, etc. Dan's guy insisted the deal was for 500k -period. After the call ended, Dan's rep reported back to him. Snyder refused to call Beathard back and rehired Vinny instead. No way is Bobby ever coming back here after that. When did this happen? Do you have a link for a story about this? If this is true, this adds a new notch on Synder's belt.
Riggo-toni
Happened in '02 when Spurrier was hired. I think it was a WaPo article, but not certain. It was something in print from a newsource, NOT just some interwebz chatter. The same genius who gave Spurrier 5m/year and Haynesworthless 40m refused to give Beathard incentives above a 500k salary for playoff appearances. worldpost
Both Bobby B and Joe Jacoby still waiting is a travesty.. I'm not sure exactly the procedure for executives tho with the voters, since the NFL has a rule that only five "players" can be entered into the Hall at once.. Two more by the executive committee.. Do you take the position away from the players or wait until a year that the field is week..

Let's be honest with ourselves here though. Do you really think Snyder would have sat back and allowed Beathard to make all the decisions with Snyder being uninvolved at all anyway? That is the exact reason Marty was fired despite finishing 8-3 in 2001. And I'm surprised that anybody would agree to put up with Snyders BS 24/7 for only 500k. Riggo-toni
Of course not -that's why Snyderman didn't return his calls the first excuse he got and ran back to the loving arms of his fondest enabler Vinny Bugeyes.
