Overview

Active, athletic offensive lineman offering room for development at guard or tackle. Daniels is an impactful down blocker with the quickness to handle zone-blocking duties. Firing out and sustaining drive blocks, however, will require much better patience and footwork to keep from whiffing or falling off blocks. Small hands prevent him from latching in as a run blocker or in pass protection, but flurrying hands and a tenacious mirror help him stay in front of rushers. Position versatility and correctable issues could raise Daniels’ draft profile as a middle-rounder with upside.

Strengths

Crashes into down block with momentum and leverage.

Plays with decent bend and athleticism.

Lateral quickness to play a gap over as move blocker.

Potential to become an effective work-up blocker.

Instinctive and intelligent in protection.

Tenacious to mirror and jab throughout the rep.

Recovers quickly when he gets beat.

Squeezes B-gap with effective pass-and-receive twist defense.

I had him as IOL9 and OT9. I think his upside at tackle is much higher though. Has a top 3 ceiling for this class. Floor is about where I ranked him (in my opinion)

Love the player. As this is his welcome thread I’ll save criticism suited for the team to another thread.

For Daniel’s himself? I’m excited to see him play.

Pre-Draft Analysis

Daniels started 18 games at left guard, 14 at left tackle and 11 at right tackle in college. He ran one of the fastest 40 times for an offensive lineman at the combine, and his quickness stands out on tape. Daniels can protect the edge, despite having short arms for an offensive tackle, and has the foot speed to mirror when his footwork is sound. He possesses the agility and range to develop into an effective zone blocker. -- Steve Muench

I think this seals it, EB wants an athletic OL.

Last season we couldn't run screens cause the Guards couldn't get out into space. Definitely not the case for the future of this OL.

Guys like Torrence weren't going to be selected as they wouldn't be scheme fits.

Yeah, I came to that conclusion as well, just kinda hit me when I started looking at the FA linemen we took, and then this draft.

Of course, now I'm panicking a little, because I see that style of finesse offense getting blown up in this division.

6-3.5, 294 seems very small for a tackle. I think he ends up as a versatile backup but hopefully I’m wrong and he can develop into a starter somewhere.

The goal is to put 15-20 pounds on him and clean his technique up. He is an excellent athlete and that should offset some of the worries about length (33” is arguably still in the acceptable range)
