Ahhh, I had forgotten about that.

He must have been beside himself after that ovation.

Standig's podcast.

My own editorial on this not his -- just in general its been a really quiet time for rumors and some suspect that's good, not bad as for the ultimate outcome we want.  Standig added nothing about the sale, just saying he thinks its close but offered nothing new.

He doubled down on the Keim point about Hard Knocks.  He heard they want to do it and suspect they might get it if Dan is gone.

He alluded to basically saying with Dan around this team wasn't going to get nice things everything being equal.  You have to pay a Snyder tax to lure players here and some players didn't want to come at all.  He said they were unlikley going to host the draft with Snyder around but with him gone that might open up.

Connecting the dots between Keim and Standig it feels like the powers that be want to show hey the wicked witch is dead -- this isn't a bad destination anymore and want to showcase that to the league.

We used to post stupid stuff to make fun of it, not discuss its merits as if it’s real. Man do we need some real news (or at least reputable rumors!)

Whenever there's no news on this football team we always pick one thread and just go in circles with it until there's some real news.

Usually it's the quarterback thread but in light of current events we apparently chose this one this year.

A new owner, especially if its Bezos, would bring us some national sizzle, but I don't see how we'd be more alluring than the Jets if they get Rodgers.

That assumes the Jets want it.   This team in the past among others never seem to want it, looks like that changed.

The Jets have the bigger fan base and are a more relevant team than this one.  So that works in their favor for sure.

But if this team is pushing to get it -- maybe the NFL would want to help make this team a little more relevant nationally like they once were.   The Lions seem to get some needed buzz from their appearance last year.  Also the Jets have already gotten one rodeo of Hard Knocks.

If nobody volunteers for Hard Knocks then the league picks a team and they will 100% pick the Jets if Rodgers goes there.

100% feels like a report.   I get the optimism that the Jets likely get it, though.

But there is an off chance two things work in this team's favor.

1.  From those covering this ownership sale, they get the vibe that the rest of the league really really really wants to make this team relevant again -- we are dead last in ticket sales for example, the Jets are close to the top.  They want to stop the bleeding.  Not that Hard Knocks of course changes this but hey any little bit of help is in order.

2.  The Jets already got it once.  We never have.

Snagging hard knocks would count towards the "coupla instant-ish impact splashes" I've been saying the org will need this year to claw its way back. When your in a financial situation like ours, that has to be massively appealing to new ownership. It would be a great shot in the arm if it does not get railroaded to the Jets.

Anybody know when the choice gets made?

Finlay is hopped up about the Magic Johnson interview.  Sheehan was hopped yesterday about Magic's investment trumping what he did with the Dodges -- he said he heard Magic would be  the third biggest investor.  If that's the case than it sounds like its Harris and Rales carrying almost the full load.

Finlay has suggested previously that he thinks Magic would be a popular bet with politicians wanting photo ops (stadium?).

And the Sportico guy that broke the initial story about Magic's drill with the Dodgers were in spite of being a small owner stakes wise, he was sort of the spokesperson for that ownership and was a great PR guy-ambassador.  He expected the same type of role with this ownership.

Judging by Magic's statements, sounds like he's planning to be hands on -- on that front similar to what he does with the Dodgers.

This Magic thing is telling me the Harris group is out. Just a gut feeling, I could be wrong.

Why out?  Finlay is talking about, thinks its a good sign not a bad sign for their chances.

This kind of transaction wouldn't be communicated through some morning show, he should have said something along the lines of "no comment" we'll see what happens.

This seems like another push to Dan saying "pick us please".

Just smells funny to me, is all.

Hard Knocks this year isn't going to do jack.  Just because you have a change in ownership isn't going to lure anyone.  It's still Dan Snyder's GM and Dan Snyder's head coach.

The time for hard knocks would be next year, when the new owner's gm and head coach are in place.  Also, more than likely; a new qb.
