I'm sure that would be the plan almost anywhere the stadium gets built. It's rare to just build an isolated concrete bowl anymore.

The issue might be whether the RFK site is big enough to do all that *and* have a stadium. I don't know that the politics would be as big a problem if Bezos gets the team. He (and his money) could make it happen. The other potential owners might have more trouble.

Of all the mooted sites other than RFK, the Dulles one makes the most sense from the modern stadium perspective. It's overall the wealthiest part of the DC area, growing quickly, and doesn't have any "destination" sites nearby. It also now has Metro access, along with freeway access that is *not* the perpetually gridlocked I-95.

It depends on how big you want to build the stadium but there is land surrounding the area that can be used. Probably wouldn’t have as much parking.

Personally you can count me out if I have to go all the way to Dulles for a game.

If the Commanders are smart they would be researching ways to accomplish that. I’m not sure DC proper/RFK site could accommodate that. But there may be a spot somewhere in there. And if there is it is my preference.

I thought that was one of the goals of the RFK site? Limit parking, but have all the other restaurants, shops, etc?

This is them giving Dan the middle finger on his way out the room.

It's entirely possible, but I think the constant allegations, horrible work environment, and how he ****s up even the smallest tasks probably have more to do with it. Snyder is absolutely radioactive right now, no one is going to go near him.

I think there are just as many people in Virginia, if not more, who haven't wanted to go across DC to MD to catch a game who would now be going to games if it was at Dulles. I know I would go to more games with it being closer. I do think RFK site doesn't seem to be near big enough to fit a modern stadium with year-round stuff, Virginia seems the most likely option if they want to create a complex.

For the record, my issues are where they would put the Stadium in Virginia, not Virginia itself.  No place that I heard discussed was reasonably close to the city in my opinion.  The Dulles and Dumfries areas are entirely too far away.  If they could find a decent spot somewhere in the Alexandria area, while not ideal I could live with that.

Ideally it'd be DC, but I still think National Harbor is the best most centralized location.

National harbor makes sense because it’s really on the border of all three. Only trouble is no train.

Agreed. Considering the casino and national harbor are already there perhaps it could be justified to build another branch of the metro system to service that area. Call it the burgundy line?
Dumfries and Dulles, unless you live there, are traffic nightmares to get to.

As an out of towner, I actually think this is a good idea and a smart move for the metro/DMV area. Increasing traffic to that area by making it easier to get to is a very positive plan. I know when I come down I hate driving all over the place because of traffic. A stadium in that area wouldn't be ideal. But if there is a metro line where I can stay basically anywhere that the metro services and commute that way? Fantastic. And I'd be willing to bet there are a lot of folks out there who think similarly who are out of town and local.

There is already a LOT of people that go to national harbor and MGM everyday. The problem is Metro isn’t well managed. It took them decades just to get a line to Dulles.

Full disclosure, I want RFK because that’s where I Live. My commute is literally the length of the Metro platform at Stadium/Armory station.

I've said this before, but they could easily make use of the different harbors around town that are metro accessible and provide large party boat shuttles:

  • Georgetown/Foggy Bottom (Orange/Silver)
  • Wharf (Green/Yellow)
  • Old Town Alexandria (Blue/Yellow)

Have a couple of these going multiple times pre-game and after and you're all set. You're welcome, Commanders' future ownership....please DM for setting up my royalties for this plan

The water taxi already exists and does those routes but that’s not big enough. I think you would need a lot of large boats to make this a reality and it would only be for game days. Not a very cost effective or efficient way of getting to and from the site if you ask me. But one I would definitely consider for 1pm games.

I was asleep but now I am awakened and all has been revealed…

It will not be Bezos.

It will not be Byron Allen.

It will be as it was in the beginning and is now in the end.

The pale horse has been unleashed.

The ancient prophecies are soon to be fulfilled.

“If one is wise and has an understanding…count the number of the beast…”

The price… is the number, and it is reckoned in billions.

The Destroyer of Worlds cometh, to claim his dark crown.

“What rough beast, it’s hour come round at last, slouches towards…”

Washington?

They're the guys from the Clearlake Group. Jose Feliciano & Behdad Eghbali. They tried with the Broncos too.

I'd honestly prefer people as far away from this area as possible so they don't make rash emotional decisions.

Just wondering if they would move the team to CA or another location. I'd hope not.

After seeing big QBs repeatedly fail after switching teams last year (Wentz, Ryan, Wilson, mayfield) after being dumped by their previous teams, its mind numbing how many Wash fans want Carr.... Especially with a high end contract. Its really common sense.. if the team is trying to get rid of a supposed franchise QB = something is wrong with him. Wash fans have the abused wife syndrome.. "well there was that one day he played pretty well, he is still good!" Mind my words..  who ever trades for Carr, will regret it.

We’ve been haunted by Snyder and his misuse of this franchise and being a local and fan of the team growing up….but to be completely honest as long as they’re a good person I’d prefer a local person really.  Look up the road in Bmore… Steve Bisciotti grew up a Colts fan and look at his track record… 1 of the best…same with Robert Kraft in NE.

For me I tend to think rich people who have no ties to the franchise or community tend to “just because they can” think I just want to own a NFL team or in whatever league they’re in and the team doesn’t do much… but having said that I don’t care if the new Owners are from Mars as long as they turn this franchise around
