I get he's not alone among anayltics guys not digging Wentz.  But Sharp stands alone in his level of obnoxiousness. 

 

Who is Warren Sharp and why do we care what he says? I did a search on him and all I get is he is a mouthy douche that needs to get rid of his porn stach. Seriously until this comment I had never heard of the dude.

He's a numbers nerd. He's smart and has good analysis but sometimes it goes over the top.

Listening to RGIII on The Junkies and he said its a well known NFL fact that you have to make Goff uncomfortable with a rush to get in his head.  Bodes well if we can get another 10 QB hits next week.

He's a big time anayltics guru.   We talk about him on and off on different threads/  We post some of his stats.  He does an annual NFL preview and breakdowns of stats in detail, tendencies, formations, etc.  A lot of the national media adore him.  He's on the radio often on a bunch of national programs and sometimes locally here.   Supposedly, like PFF, he's hired by a bunch of NFL teams.

 

I'd say he's probably overtaken Football Outsiders as being the 2nd biggest anayltics outfit after PFF.

 

For a dude who is just getting bigger over the years, I don't get Sharp's fixation on Wentz, it makes him look petty.

I follow a lot of those things and do not recognize him.  But ok good for him.  Still needs to do something with that porn stach  😂😂.   
 

I am all for numbers and data.  But done if these people start taking themselves too serious.  Out of fairness I watched a few not wentz related videos.  For me he was just meh. Didn’t really provide anything new but is not a complete boob either.  
 

certainly not loosing any sleep over his analysis.

Football outsiders also rail on Wentz. Saying they don't think he should be starting in the league, etc. Calling bad plays by any QB a Wentzian move, etc.

 

National media clearly all got the memo to go in on Wentz. It's surprising because football outsiders stats say Wentz was (barely) a top half of the league QB, yet they want to stick a fork in him.

 

Part of me wonders if the Colts are a team that buys services from these stats media outfits, so those same outfits feel obligated to back their narrative.

Those two picks were bad and hopefully that doesn't happen often this year. However the 300 plus yards and 4 tds are gorgeous. Heinicke has literally zero games like that in his career, right? CW did it in his debut. Woohoo. When is the last time a Washington qb has had 300 plus yards and 4 tds? Cousins? Hope to see more of that 😁😁

Football Outsiders is harsh too but not IMO as bad as Sharp.  Actually PFF is easier on Wentz in comparison, they actually have some anaylists who like Wentz albiet most there don't.

I’m absolutely convinced that Irsay paid some of the media handsomely to parrot this “Carson Wentz sucks” narrative. It just isn’t fitting.

 

To have rankings come out that list him behind guys like Geno Smith, Fields, Lawrence, CJ. Beathard, Lance, Mills etc. is just a waste of everyone’s time who has actually watched the guy play over the entirety of his career. 
 

I respect the hell out of Ron for taking this gamble. I think he has the perfect personality to endear himself toward Carson and guide him through the madness that has been spoken about him and how he’s been discarded two off-seasons in a row. 
 

You don’t own the 9th QBR in the NFL with 27 TDs to only 7 INTs If you suck that bad. You don’t have nearly a 3 to 1 career TD INT ratio if you actually suck that bad. And for real, just throw out the numbers. Look at the guy play, look at some of the throws he can make. I used to hold my breath watching him when we played against Philly cause I just knew he was going to find a way to kill us at some point, and sure enough he would.

 

Hes a roller coaster, but he’s a roller coaster with more ups than downs. To throw 4 TDS week one against any team in the NFL is nothing to sneeze at. The 2 picks had me grimacing, but that makes the last 2 TDS all the more promising and exciting.

 

What has been said of him just frankly hasn’t been true, and I hope every single one of those media members that has owned these awful witch hunt takes have a giant egg on their face party at the end of the year with Jim Irsay hosting.

I can understand analytics people not like Wentz due to his propsensity for turnovers. But some of the rankings were just absurd. You wanna rank him around 15-20, fine I get that, that's fair. But below guys like Geno freaking Smith? Justin Fields who was mostly abysmal as a rookie? I mean that's just ridiculous.

BMitch brought this up with Finlay.  He said he thinks Leno is supposed to block and release but dropped back instead.  Also said, Gibby didn't look like he was in the right position.  Yes, it still should have been thrown in the dirt because our guys were out of position and the play blew up.

The way Wentz played yesterday is almost exactly how playing with him in Mobile Madden has been lol...no lie. Unlike with Fitz and Heinicke before the update, I have Wentz in Madden dropping dimes with insane accuracy and then throwing insane INTs right afterwards. I usually get really pissed off after the INT and (literally) say "**** you" out loud, and the next drive consists only of 3-4 Wentz passes that ends in a TD. On that bomb to McLaurin I thought to myself, damn, Wentz said "**** you, INTs" like I do in Madden lol...

I don't hear anybody anointing him as mvp material, just a bunch of people saying that despite the two bone headed picks he did have some beautiful throws and 4 touchdowns. 

 

All I hear is people stating facts not cranking up the hype machine.

Who exactly needs to chill?  I’ve not seen anyone booking flights for the Super Bowl.

 

I understand Jax was the worst team in the league last season but they had quite an influx of talent via FA, the draft and guys they got back healthy.  I don’t expect them to lose anywhere near the amount of games they lost last year.

 

Beyond that, they’ve apparently had Wentz #, and he went out against his old coach and for the most part played really well and led a comeback victory in his first game with the team.

 

Its week one, wild things happen.  In fact, the next few weeks will likely have much of the same across the league.  
 

There’s no reason to throw a party, but I don’t really see anyone doing that.
