Maybe this should just be titled the "I Don't Like Heinicke And Refuse To Include His Name" thread.

I may not be on here much this week and figured that name would belong in the ATL section soon enough.  :D

I was shocked..... to see that Howell was available in the 5th. Shocked.... He very well could be our starter in a year or 2.  Cant wait to see him and Heinkie battle it out in the preseason.

Wouldn't shock me if we outright cut Heinicke.

Cut our only back up with significant playing time?  Why would we do that?

Where the hell were all you Howell fans when I was dodging left hooks and flying debris in the draft thread defending him? :ols:

I could have used an assist, damnit.

I believe most people speaking of drafting a QB before were speaking of drafting a starter in the first or second, rather than drafting the same guy as a third stringer in the fifth

I think I went all in on him around the time of the Wake Forrest game, same as you, but I definitely cooled a lot.

I'm back!  :ols:

I don't recall anyone asking you to explain it.

I was hoping for a UDFA. Needed another arm for camp and he is almost free.

I know nothing about him other than the fact that he is 6-foot-7 and 260 pounds. That's alotta QB right there. Biggest dude we have had in a while.

Cant wait to see him in preseason so I can scream "That thing belongs in a cage!" at my TV, as he dwarfs the puny mortals around him.

I think I love my new QB abomination.

So if I'm understanding this logic...

Sam Howell wasn't cool enough to be liked, not because of his ACTUAL ability... but because of where people thought we were going to take him? Because there were a ton of "Sam stinks you tools" types of posts.

And now he no longer stinks? Because we drafted him in the 5th?

Am I understanding this?

Haha!  I mentioned Coke Kelley as an UDFA possibility back in March.  My “change the NFL” approach would be to have a 2pt specialist. And this would be my guy.

Coke Kelley, I hope the pep(py people) see him the same way.

If you like a 6'7" 245lbs QB, you are gonna love Wentz.

and this is my problem with online conversation.

There is a MASSIVE difference between "He stinks" and  "He's not good enough right now to invest in heavily and have immediate high expectations in"

Wow, my auto correct keeps changing Cole to coke.  Did it all weekend.  I need to do some self reflection.

He's one of the more pro ready QBs of the draft.

And no, that wasn't the conversations that were being had :ols: Trust me, I know. I was involved in them. You were probably fly by thumbs downing them :ols: :)

yeah, well this draft did suck for QBs, so that may be true.  Most ready of guys available doesn't mean you should actually use him like that

Can Wentz go thru puberty again? Kelley is a grown man, Wentz is not on his level both literally and figuratively. he know nothing of the tall life in comparison.

Ya.

That's why most of us wanted a bridge guy like Mariota or Trubisky... So we could draft a rookie and let them sit and learn. So, that's true.

IIRC Howell was pretty consistently my #2 QB behind Corral so I liked him through the whole process.

They're the same size. Wentz is huge.

If we'd drafted Smoke Monday, we'd have Smoke and Coke, a throwback to 1970's football.  Ahhh, 14-game seasons, when dudes with regular jobs played football in the Fall to support their offseason drug habits.
