Lori Vallow, mom of 2 missing Idaho kids, wants $5 million bail reduced

HONOLULU — A mother arrested in Hawaii over the disappearance of her two Idaho children wants a judge to reconsider her $5 million bail.

A court hearing for her request is scheduled Wednesday on Kauai, where Lori Vallow was arrested last week on an Idaho warrant. She has been charged with two felony counts of child abandonment.

Seven-year-old Joshua "JJ" Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan have not been seen since September. Their disappearance captured worldwide attention after authorities pleaded for help in finding them late last year.

Police in the city of Rexburg, Idaho, have said they "strongly believe that Joshua and Tylee's lives are in danger."

Bail for the equivalent felonies in Hawaii usually range from $2,000 to $20,000, Vallow's attorney, Craig De Costa said in a court motion seeking a reduction in bail. She isn't a flight risk and had offered to turn herself in to authorities before her arrest on Thursday, the motion said.

DanielHempey, a lawyer who represented Vallow at Friday's hearing, asked for bail to be lowered to $10,000.

Vallow is a flight risk, prosecutors said. "Given the extensive media attention, she is clearly aware that the authorities have prioritized her case," prosecutors said. "She also has the means to move across an ocean."

Prosecutors noted that Vallow's husband, Chad Daybell, had $152,000 in a First Hawaiian Bank account.

Police also have said Vallow and Daybell have lied about the children's whereabouts.

Vallow also is accused of disobeying a court order that required her to bring her children to Idaho authorities last month.

The tangled case includes investigations into three deaths. Vallow's estranged husband, Charles Vallow, was shot and killed in Phoenix last July by her brother, Alex Cox. Then Cox, who claimed the shooting was in self-defense, died of unknown causes in December.

Vallow moved her family to Idaho in late August. In October, Chad Daybell's wife, Tammy Daybell, died of what her obituary said was natural causes. When Daybell married Vallow roughly two weeks after Tammy's death, law enforcement became suspicious and had her remains exhumed.

Test results on Daybell's remains and toxicology results for Cox have not yet been released.

Vallow reportedly believes she is "a god assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ's second coming in July 2020," according to divorce documents Charles Vallow filed before his death.

Here's an easy solution "Lori."  Tell them where your kids are and they'll lower the bail.  Continue to stonewall and you can sit in jail.

The more I look the crazier this story gets:

Lori Vallow's niece knows where missing kids are, is involved in doomsday cult, ex alleges

The niece of Lori Vallow, the Idaho mom who was arrested last week, months after two of her children vanished, knows where the children are, the niece's ex-husband alleges in court documents related to the couple's custody fight over their own children.

Brandon Boudreaux says in the petition filed in Arizona that he has "serious concerns for his children's safety if they were placed in the care of mother" in part because Melani Boudreaux's "knowledge of the whereabouts of her aunt's two missing children and her unwillingness to cooperate with law enforcement in finding those children is daunting to father."

Boudreaux says his ex-wife is also "heavily" involved in a doomsday cult in which "numerous members, adults and children alike, have been being killed off like flies." Vallow has also been accused of being consumed with doomsday theories.

Vallow's 7-year-old son Joshua, who is adopted and has special needs, was last seen alive on Sept. 23, 2019, according to a probable cause affidavit filed against Vallow last week. Her daughter, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, has not been seen or heard from since Sept. 8, 2019.

In early December, after police in Idaho began probing the kids' disappearance, Vallow and her fifth husband, Chad Daybell, flew to Hawaii without any children.

Vallow was arrested in Hawaii on Feb. 20 and charged with two counts of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children, resisting an officer, solicitation and contempt. The next day, she waived her right to an extradition hearing, and is due back in court on March 2.

Before Rexburg police in Idaho went to Vallow's home to check on Joshua, at the urging of his biological grandmother, at the end of November, they were already familiar with Vallow.

A detective had begun monitoring her on Nov. 1 after police in Gilbert, Arizona, told them that a vehicle in her possession was used in the alleged attempted murder of Brandon Boudreaux in October 2019.

"Brandon witnessed the Jeep" and "observed a rifle with a silencer come out of the rear window of the Jeep and then Brandon's vehicle was shot once in the front driver’s doorframe," according to Vallow's probable cause affidavit.

In the custody-related court filings, Boudreaux alleges that his ex-wife plotted with her uncle to carry out the murder.

Right?? Even if they're stowed away at one of her kooky Cult Camps. if they're are fed, healthy, and getting schooling of some credentialed manner, all she has to do is show that and she can say "Sod off!" because with Dad dead, she's the only legal Guardian.

But she won't do that and the reason why is SHE CAN'T. Those kids (especially the older daughter) became a liability that likely know too much about all the deaths or even worse they were simply in the way of her Hawaiian paradise with her new man. I'm amazed he hasn't been arrested yet.

And all this death cult bull****... I've lived in Idaho most of life and grew up Mormon (no longer practice)... I don't want to paint all LDS with this brush but when your doctrine preaches that you will become a God yourself, it's no wonder a disproportionate amount of them go rogue and start these sects. The doctrine caters to one's narcissism.

The fact that her cult believes in 144,000 being chosen suggests it's much more likely a deviant sect of Jehovah's witnesses.

But all the players involved here come from an LDS background. I do concur that everything I saw about the group on Dateline suggests a radical blend of the 2.

Missing Idaho kids’ uncle died of blood clot in Arizona

PHOENIX (AP) — A pulmonary blood clot killed the brother of an Idaho woman who’s facing charges in the disappearance of her children — a case that attracted worldwide attention with revelations of her doomsday beliefs and connection to three mysterious deaths.

Autopsy and toxicology reports were released Friday for Alex Cox, who died in Arizona in December. In July, Cox fatally shot his sister’s estranged husband, Charles Vallow, in what he said was self-defense.

Police in Gilbert, Arizona, say detectives investigating Cox’s death will review the autopsy report and that the case is still active.

Lori Vallow, Cox’s sister, is being detained in Idaho on charges related to the disappearance of her two children: Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 17. They were reported missing in September.

Lori Vallow is being held on $1 million bail.

Getting harder to think now that she wasn't involved in offing her first husband.

Isn't she allegedly involved in a total of 3 deaths (besides the possibility of her kids)

Besides her ex, I think there's her current boyfriend's ex-wife...and I think the brother of one of the 2.

We're likely looking at at least 5 deaths, that we know of.

Rexburg Police: Chad Daybell booked into Fremont County Jail after human remains found on his property

REXBURG, Idaho — Chad Daybell has been booked into the Fremont County Jail on undisclosed charges after human remains were found at his home north of Rexburg Tuesday morning, authorities announced.

Rexburg police held a short news conference Tuesday night to confirm that Daybell had been booked and that he will make a court appearance Wednesday at 11 a.m. Assistant Chief Gary Hagen declined to say what charges Daybell faces, but the Associated Press reports that he was arrested on suspicion of concealing or destroying evidence.

Police said at an earlier news conference that human remains were found when police, deputies and the FBI executed a search warrant of Daybell's property early Tuesday morning.

Hagen said the remains have not been identified. He did not specify whether the remains belong to one person or more than one person, or whether they appeared to be from an adult or a child.

An autopsy will be conducted on the remains, Hagen said.

Rexburg Police, along with the Fremont County Sheriff's Office and the FBI, arrived at Daybell's home in the 200 block of 1900 East around 7 a.m. to serve the search warrant.

Police confirmed to KTVB that the warrant was related to the disappearance of 7-year-old JJ Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, who have been missing since last fall. The warrant is currently sealed.

Lori Vallow, Daybell's wife and the mother of the missing children, is charged with two felony counts of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children, as well as misdemeanors for resisting or obstructing officers, criminal solicitation to commit a crime, and contempt of court. She remains held in the Madison County Jail.

Police have previously said both Vallow and Daybell have tried to mislead law enforcement about the children's whereabouts, and have repeatedly refused to say where they are, if they are safe, or what happened to them.

The grandparents of JJ confirmed that one of the bodies is his. Such a sad end of two young lives. My bet is Lori's husband Chad is coping a deal, that's how the police got the search warrant. Lori seems the hard type, unlikely to break. The killing spree has ended and we'll see either pleas or trials.

From The Trail's End by Bonnie Parker, the last stanza: to bad it probably won't be death for Lori and Chad.

Some day they'll go down together

they'll bury them side by side.

To few it'll be grief, to the law a relief

but it's death for Bonnie and Clyde.

Those children were robbed of their chance to experience all the joys and challenges of life, likely by a person they wanted so very badly to love them back.  There's no way to balance the scales for a crime like this.  All you can do is destroy the monsters that did this horrible thing and carry on.

It's stories like this that made me stop watching channels like Bio (Probably isn't even a channel anymore) or I.D.

Just cuts too close

I'm pleased to inform you that the Death Penalty is still an option in Idaho and has been utilized twice in the last 10 years.

Lori Vallow’s son had date-rape drug in his body when he was choked to death with plastic bag, duct tape over his mouth: doctor

“Doomsday Mom” Lori Vallow Daybell’s autistic 7-year-old son had a date-rape drug in his system when he was asphyxiated to death with a plastic bag and duct tape over his mouth, a court heard Thursday.

Dr. Garth Warren, of the Ada County Coroner’s Office, testified Wednesday that little J.J. Vallow had traces of alcohol and the chemical GHB, commonly used as a date-rape drug because it knocks people out, when his body was recovered by police, East Idaho News reports.

The doctor, however, said that based on the low levels of the chemicals found in the body, he is unsure how they got into the young boy’s system.

The child’s autopsy was conducted two days after the remains of J.J. and his 16-year-old sister, Tylee Ryan, were found buried on the property of Chad Daybell, Vallow Daybell’s fifth husband, in June 2020.

Warren said the boy’s autopsy also revealed scratch marks on his neck and bruises on his wrists and ankles where he was bound with duct tape, suggesting J.J. was awake and trying to free himself as he suffocated.

The forensic pathologist noted Tylee’s autopsy proved to be a grisly challenge because the teen’s body was dismembered and had arrived at the coroner’s office in three separate bags.

“We were looking for anything. Bullets, a portion of a knife, any other foreign debris that we could collect as evidence,” Warren told the court. “Essentially what we saw was a collection of bones along with other debris. A lot of mud and dirt.”

Warren also echoed previous testimony that parts of Tylee’s body were “burned away or were never found.”

It was the latest horrific detail in Vallow Daybell’s murder trial, where she stands accused of killing her children and her husband’s previous wife, Tammy.

Prosecutors say she was motivated to kill them by her belief in a “doomsday” religious cult that called on her to kill those possessed by evil spirits who become “zombies.”

Along with the pathologist’s testimony, the Boise courtroom was shown images of the two children’s remains, the discovery of which sparked the murder investigation against their parents.

I went deep down the rabbit hole about this woman and her family. Daybill’s sentencing is coming up in the next week or two.

What she did was horrific. But there were a lot of horrible things/events in the family that led to this. Schizophrenia with her father. She was allegedly raped by her brother. Her sister died at age 31 due to complications from diabetes which was exacerbated by a mistrust of modern medicine. Her daughter who died was abused by her father. Her son who she killed was adopted. His biological mother had substance abuse, worked hard to try to get him back, and has since died.

So ****ed up on so many levels.
