12-year-old who emailed bomb threats to Maryland schools knew state law would prevent charges

A 12-year-old responsible for emailing seven bomb threats to Maryland schools this month knew a state law would prevent authorities from bringing charges, police announced Wednesday.

In Maryland, children younger than 13 can be charged only with offenses that constitute a “crime of violence," Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones said in a statement.

A police spokesperson confirmed the child knew no charges could be brought before speaking to detectives.

Detectives spoke with the suspect, who admitted emailing the threats to Montgomery Blair High School on Oct. 13, 16 and 17, as well as Monday and Tuesday, Jones said. The suspect also admitted being behind separate e-mailed bomb threats to Oak View Elementary School and Silver Spring International Middle School on Oct. 15.

The suspect was identified, Jones said, with assistance from the IT staff for the Montgomery County Public Schools.

Washington DC CVS only shows pictures of toilet paper products on shelves due to rising theft

A CVS store in Washington, D.C., isn't making toilet paper available on shelves, and customers are now forced to ask an employee to get the product from the store's backroom.

The CVS store on H Street NE in the nation's capital took the measure because homeless people were stealing toilet paper, sources told WTOP news.

Pictures obtained by FOX Business show framed pictures of paper towels and toilet paper not readily available on the store shelves.

To get the product, customers are asked to press a customer service button for assistance.

On a year-to-date basis, reports of robbery are up by 68% in 2023 vs. 2022. Just over 3,000 robberies have taken place so far in 2023, versus 1,791 at this point in 2022, Metropolitan Police Department data shows.

Secret Service agent assigned to Naomi Biden fires gun amid car break-in

A Secret Service agent assigned to protect US President Joe Biden's granddaughter opened fire on suspects attempting to break into an unoccupied government vehicle on Sunday.

Multiple agents on Naomi Biden's detail were in the Georgetown neighbourhood of Washington DC.

None of the three suspects are believed to have been hit, according to a Secret Service statement.

A search is on for the suspects who fled the scene in a red car.

"There was no threat to any protectees and the incident is being investigated by the DC Metropolitan Police Department and the Secret Service," the service said in a statement.

The incident occurred on 12 November around midnight local time when Secret Service agents spotted three people breaking the window of an unoccupied government vehicle.

The car was parked outside the home of President Biden's granddaughter, according to anonymous sources cited by US media.

She was not with the agents when the incident occurred although the agents were on duty, the BBC's US media partner CBS reported.

There is no evidence to suggest that the suspects knew the vehicle was part of a protective detail for Mr Biden's granddaughter.

Metro admits it may have to cut service as it struggles with money problems

Metro's General Manager Randy Clarke says the transit system could see service cuts as soon as spring if the agency is not able to close the $750 million dollar gap in next year's budget….……

Last month, Metro posted plans for how it could make up the financial shortfall. In a worst-case scenario, Metro says it could cut more than 60% of its service. Eliminating as many as 95 of its 134 bus routes and bumping wait times between trains from 6 to 12 minutes, up to 20 to 30 minutes.

Several Metro stations could be forced to close entirely and train service would end by 9:30 p.m., according to the transit agency. All while fares would go up.

Dayum. Bluemont neighborhood near Ballston. Officers suffered only minor injuries. The resident, James Yoo, had been posting weird stuff on his LinkedIn page.

That is a wild ride. Hope everyone is okay and that he doesn’t silence Ball Security for looking at his LinkedIn page.

EDIT: I don’t intend to poke fun. This man was/is in serious mental distress if his postings are his actual thoughts. I do hope nobody else was hurt.

I’m just glad he didn’t hurt that family (even if they are really spies).
