Very sad day, big loss for baseball.

One of the true all time greats, I think he was a bit underrated cause he fell just short of 600 homers and 3,000 hits.  But he was a complete badass and played hard.  One of the games most important figures post WWII for his play on the field and his contribution as the first black manager (and managed some good teams, too, '89 Orioles).

The only player to be named the most valuable player in both leagues and one of only two players (the other being Nolan Ryan) to have their number retired by three different clubs.  I doubt most people who are younger than him, myself included, can truly understand the amount of racist bull**** this guy had to live with.
