I'm sure it's an uncomfortable subject for many, but dying by being vaporized, a bullet to the back of the head, or in your sleep is not comparable to getting each of your limbs removed and dying of blood loss, being eaten alive, burned alive, or inhaling volcanic ash, and slowly dying of starvation.

 

Death itself is the same for all, but the manner and preference in which one dies is what is actually being discussed

So what your saying is dying by nuclear holocaust or by volcanic holocaust is pretty much nothing compared to being drawn and quartered....agreed

Nah, I said they are not comparable, not the same as, in other words, though death itself is the same for everyone, the pain/trauma you feel before you die is not the same, from event to event, hence the discussion.

 

Its kinda like sex. The end result/goal is the same, but how you get there, can vary wildly

Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier classified as 'very high threat' for eruption

 

The U.S. Geological Survey is updating its volcano threat assessments for the first time since 2005 and two Washington volcanoes are ranked as high threats.

 

The United States has 161 active volcanoes – all in the western U.S. – but only 18 are classified as a "very high threat," the U.S. Geological Survey announced in a new volcanic threat assessment report. This is the agency's first update to the list of the nation's most dangerous volcanoes since 2005.

 

The new threat assessment 'is not a forecast or indication of which volcanoes are most likely to erupt next. Rather, it is an indicator of the potential severity of impacts that may result from future eruptions at any given volcano," according to the report.

 

The threat assessment places volcanoes into four other threat categories besides "very high:" 39 are "high" threat, 49 are "moderate" threat, 34 are "low" threat, and 21 are "very low" threat volcanoes.

 

So where do Washington’s volcanoes rank on the list?

Mount Adams: Ranking 34 - Threat level high.

Mount Baker: Ranking 14 - Threat level very high.

Glacier Peak: Ranking 15 - Threat level very high.

Mount Rainier: Ranking 3 - Threat level very high.

Mount St. Helens: Ranking 2 - Threat level very high.

 

There is also Mount Hood, south of the Columbia River in Oregon. Mount Hood ranked number 6 on the list with a very high threat level.

Yellowstone volcano ERUPTION: Monster blast will ‘TEAR OUT guts from America’

 

Yellowstone volcano is the biggest natural disaster threat facing the US and scientists are in awe of its potential destructive force. Fears of Yellowstone roaring back to life were heightened following the release of a report outlining the risk of supervolcanoes erupting in the near future. The report, dubbed Extreme Geohazards: Reducing the Disaster Risk and Increasing Resilience, found a 10 percent chance of a supervolcano somewhere on Earth erupting by the end of the century. In the wake of the dire volcano report, renowned physicist Dr Michio Kaku warned Yellowstone volcano is an untamed beast waiting to let loose across America.

 

Dr Kaku told Fox News: “Forget the image of Yogi Bear representing Yellowstone.

 

“We’re talking about a sleeping Godzilla underneath Yellowstone, that if it erupts in a maximum eruption called Category 8, it can literally tear the guts out of the United States of America.

 

“Instead of having 50 states of the Union, we would have 30 states of the Union.

 

“Now that’s Category 8. This report looked at Category 7, which is much more likely – once every 1,000 years rather once ever one million years.

 

 

 

“That means in every century there is a 10 percent chance that somewhere on the planet Earth there could be a supervolcanic Category 7 eruption. That’s the danger.”

 

According to the theoretical physicist and professor at the City College of New York, scientists know of three major Yellowstone eruptions in the past.

 

These Yellowstone blasts occurred respectively, around 0.6 million, 1.3 million and 2.1 million years ago.

 

Each of these super-eruptions were large enough to spew monstrous amounts of volcanic material and ash across the US.
