Larry
I'm not too concerned in people complaining. If Craig was a bad Bond, they would have replaced him by now. The fact that in an age where you can CG entire movies, AND they had an era of where Bond needed so many toys. Craig being a tough guy who would win more 1-1 fights, is something I like. He can be cruel. "A gun and a radio". ---------- Remembering a scene from Clancy's Cardinal of the Kremlin. The USS Dallas has been assigned to deliver Mr. Clark to Leningrad. Clark is packing his gear, and the Skipper sees his gun, and li looks like a 22. He comments that that's not what he expected an Uber Tough Guy to be packing. Clark explains that you can't silence a bullet that's supersonic, and that a silencer for anything bigger than a 22 is too big to conceal. He also observes that, between the reduced powder load and the silencer, there isn't enough gas pressure to operate the automatic, so you have to manually chamber each round. Skipper: "You're swimming ashore in the Soviet Union, armed with a single shot 22?" Whatever man, I loved the toys in the Brosnan films. Stealth Aston Martin Vanquish with gun turrets and rockets? Yes please *Runs* Least it didn't turn into a submarine.
Chew
Pierce was soft as charmin, though. Daniels is out here man handling dudes with his bare hands. That hotel scene where he killed that dude in the balcony was magical. Pierce was in the streets laser-watching dudes. Chump. Loved Craig's first Bond when he went to see Q for his toys, and all he waa given was a Walther and a locating device lol. Craig vs Pierce in a cage fight, Brosnan might die. Chew
If you REALLY want to drop the bomb, you say 'How about that George Lazenby? He was the best Bond by FAR!' ...... dawg, that joint was on some random Encore channel (or Sundance) either last weekend or the weekend before. I watched the whole movie in it's entirety for the first time in like 25 years. How it got an 82% on Rotten, I'll never understand. I attribute the high rating to cool action scenes on the slopes. Diana Rigg could get it in every orifice, though. she was incredibly hot. OMG.
Destino
I don't know if I favor James Bond as batman, a man that can handle all challengers with his fists that also happens to have all these crazy gadgets. He's supposed to be a capable fighter but not a professional fighter stuffed into a suit. At least that's the impression I had from watching all of the Bond films before Daniel Craig showed up. I like the recent Casino Royale and Quantom of Solace, but I thought that Skyfall was garbage. Skyfall was an almost anti-Bond Bond film where the polish of espionage and gadgets were pushed aside in favor of a Western Style show down and shoot out. It wasn't a bad movie, but it just didn't fit the series. Also I want the villains to be a little less gritty and real. Bond movies were better when the villains were more fun. Looking at the last three movies Raoul Silva is the most fun, and that's not saying much. Other than him you have a black market banker (boring) and a group trying to corner the market on water in Bolivia (more boring) and not a scrap of personality to remember between them. W As for who I'd like to see as the next Bond? Idris Elba.

(Cue someone to tell me Pierce is from Southern Ireland.). We went away from Brits once and looked what happened! Ha ha. Hail.

Momma There Goes That Man
Daniel Craig is hands down the best Bond. And he's also had 2 of the best Bond 4-5 movies with Casino Royale being the best ever imo. He owns that role. If he has to be replaced, I'd go with Hardy or Elba. Anybody that goes into the movie thread knows my man crush and affection for Hardy has no limits. I think he would kill as Bond That said, I would really like to see Elba take it as well. He has such a charisma and pull about him in any role he takes, it would make for a great Bond. He seems a lot taller, bulkier and broader too so it would be a more unique take from a physical perspective. I like Cavill as Superman but let's be honest, he's pretty boring and I had enough boring Bond watching Brosnan's work though Pierce will always have a soft spot in my heart for Goldeneye on N64
Gibbs Hog Heaven
Honestly staggered by the amount of people that are putting Idris forward here for the next Bond. A black Bond. After building him into something completely different through 26 films and 53 years. That is like changing the Redskins name for no apparent reason. You'd be changing the very fabric of everything he's been built on. Just don't see how that works at all. Hail.

The Evil Genius
Clive Owen was considered back in 2005. I'd bet he would still be a solid choice 11 or so years later.

If they try to "black him up" it will be clumsy and they will come out of it looking like racists. Hand the script to Elba and let the man work, he could be put into any of the previous bond roles and fit right in. Ok... maybe not You Only Live Twice, because that embarrassing yellow face bit. I wasn't even thinking about trying to 'black him up.' It's just the mere premise of what they've built Bond on through every movie. I just don't see how you switch the colour of his skin and expect it to fly with audiences after all this time. The whole brand changes. Bond is what he is. I love Idris, but a black Bond is as nonsensical to me personally as changing the Redskins name. And neither has anything to do with racism. I want Kate Beckinsale as the next James Bond. Her father, Richard, was a much loved guy/actor who only had a relatively short body of work before he died of a heart attack at the ridiculously young age of 31. Very sad loss felt by many at the time. Hail.

Back when you could still go to the video store & rent a VHS tape, I was trying to watch every Bond in order. Had to take a 2-3 month break because that film was damn near impossible to find in the rental store. After finally finding it & watching it, I thought if they'd used Connery then it'd been a decent flick. Not upper echelon Bond, but decent. Lazenby just didn't work as Bond. 88Comrade2000
I want Kate Beckinsale as the next James Bond. What? That's like making Doctor Who's "The Master" a female. Oh wait, Missy No, you can't have a Jane Bond. I prefer Idris Elba as the next Bond or even the next Doctor Who. GHH did you approve or disapprove M becoming a woman with Judi Dench for the last 7 movies. What about MoneyPenny being black now?

Larry
The Living Daylights is one of ,my favorite all-time Bonds. The next one had some silly moments. Agreed. The slogan on the posters for Living Daylights was "The Most Dangerous Bond Ever". And I thought Dalton lived up to that. I thought he came across as a guy who was really, really, good at his job. (I also liked the fact that he wasn't chasing the girl because he was a horny idiot who couldn't keep it in his pants. At least as I read it, he was calculatingly using her, to get at his target.) Duckus
Hardy or Elba for sure. Hard to choose between them. Two of my favorite actors right now. Either would fit the role perfectly. If I had to though....probably go Elba. He just seems more Bond like to me than Hardy. More mature. He would crush it. It's just the mere premise of what they've built Bond on through every movie. I just don't see how you switch the colour of his skin and expect it to fly with audiences after all this time. The whole brand changes. Bond is what he is. Disagree. The Bond brand doesn't change - or get damaged - with a black actor. When I think of Bond I think of cool, smooth, and a badass - not "white guy." Elba would be a very natural bond. Spaceman Spiff
I don't think it's written anywhere that Bond has to be a white guy. I'd be alright with Elba, maybe even so over Hardy. I'm not sure if it's written anywhere that Bond needs to be 40+ but I think Hardy's just too young. I'd still like to see Craig come back for more, he's been my favorite. I did like Brosnan a lot but he had some really ****ty scripts. A lot of his haven't held up at all.
