Roger.Staubach
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000491654/article/dallas-cowboys-agree-to-terms-with-lael-collins The Dallas Cowboys continue to add big names to their offseason haul. LSU offensive tackle La'el Collins has agreed to sign as an undrafted free agent, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday, according to a source. The move continues an offseason trend of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones adding players who have been in the news: Greg Hardy, Randy Gregory, and now Collins. ***Wow. Wow. Wow. Nice, Jerry! Bonez3
I can see how that's a good fit...being Dallas hasn't addressed the line in so long. I hope it interjects more dysfunction into the franchise. 'Win by any mean'. Yea Jerruh
skinsfan190
Heartbreaker. This one hurts. Def worst case scenario for us. Rich just got richer. 1st rounder for free. La'el was my fav OL in the draft. Wish we could have snagged him and put him at G.

Rodriggo
Hurts but karma is watching this VERY intently. Gregory, Collins, possibly Peterson? Not gonna work. Maybe if the team was established it would work but they're one good season away from being predicted as a 3rd/4th place team. Remember when Jerry was pissed they took Fredericks over Manziel 12 months ago? Now they're a juggernaut? Think again. Jerry is thirsty, too thirsty. DM72
I know the police says he's not a suspect and he's cleared, but I've seen my share of Dateline to know that no one is cleared in a murder case until an arrest is made. But if he is innocent, it was a good pickup. But it also reeks of a franchise that will sign ANYBODY to win. This team has been in the discussion for virtually every player that has had recent legal issues.
ABQCOWBOY
This was almost a must sign for the Cowboys. When you look at the Cowboys situation, they are solid with Smith, Martin and Fredbeard but Leary has a knee condition that could be an injury away from retirement. He is on a one year deal and the Cowboys would have needed to either commit long term money to him or sign an expensive FA. Free is under contract thru 2017 but is coming off of two ankle surgeries and his status remains to be seen. By signing Collins, that gives them flexibility at both positions. TheMalcolmConnection
I mean sure, I love our team to have some semi-morals, because over the years the Cowboys make it very clear they don't care about signing garbage human beings (not saying Collins is) but it seems like it works out for them 9 out of 10 times. Rskins91
It's clear that Jerruh knows the future is now. He's putting his eggs in one risky basket. If it pays off, the team could push past the NFC Division round they got tripped up in. If not, and Collins becomes a suspect, or Gregory can't work out his issues, or Hardy does some more stupid things... they might have more distractions than they bargained for. They're very talented. But we'll see if it works out for them on Sundays. I think what's frustrating is as a Skins fan, our teams are on different trajectories. We're building a foundation for the future, so a player like Collins (who MAY have character concerns) doesn't make a ton of sense. With Dallas, they have a deep line and he could be quite good if he clears. If he doesn't, they'll have some explaining to do but they can plug in other players. ABQCOWBOY
Honestly, there is not a lot of risk in the moves the Cowboys have made this offseason. Collins is cheap for 3 years. The upside is through the roof. Gregory is a risk, in that he may not be able to stay out of trouble and he's undersized but he has skills that you don't see from many edge rushers. Still, he's a 2nd round pick so the financial investment is not crippling. If he doesn't work out, the Cowboys can still be in good financial shape. Hardy is one of the top edge rushers in the league. He has the suspension issue over his head but honestly, the NFL has lost the last two legal fights over suspension (Rice and AP) and I don't think they are going to win this one. If they do, the Cowboys have signed Hardy to a performance based contract so it's unlikely that if the suspension holds, Hardy reaches his incentives. On top of that, the contract is structured in such a way that he only gets paid if he plays. If he doesn't play, the cap goes back to the Cowboys. Really very little risk in that contract. Going forward is where the Cowboys might have issues. Hardy, if successful, will demand a huge contract and the Cowboys will have to figure out a way to pay him or he will sign elsewhere. The other two are locked on rookie contracts.

And every other team had a number of chances to draft this guy.Just another punk drafted by the team that's full of them. Jerry just doesn't care. Momma There Goes That Man
And every other team had a number of chances to draft this guy. Just another punk drafted by the team that's full of them. Jerry just doesn't care. He would be the first guy knocking on Hernandez door if he didn't get jail time. Really? What is this based on? The fact that he was questioned by police in a murder investigation? Let's hope somebody that you know isn't murdered because you'd be questioned as well and would therefore be a low character punk as well right? I think what's frustrating is as a Skins fan, our teams are on different trajectories. We're building a foundation for the future, so a player like Collins (who MAY have character concerns) doesn't make a ton of sense. With Dallas, they have a deep line and he could be quite good if he clears. If he doesn't, they'll have some explaining to do but they can plug in other players. Why doesn't it make sense for us? We are building a foundation for the future and Collins is a young, talented player that could be a nice part of that future. "May have character issues" doesn't make it wrong for us to sign him, since at this time, he doesn't have character issues. If he doesn't work out for us, well we are right back in the same spot either way, so why not take the shot? So his camp claimed but nobody was offering. Just saying you can't be pissed and say they lucked in when we could of taken him. Hail. Or made him a priority once the draft concluded

Hardy, if successful, will demand a huge contract and the Cowboys will have to figure out a way to pay him or he will sign elsewhere. The other two are locked on rookie contracts. They're actually in a real good situation going forward and will be out of cap Hell after this year. Restructure Romo again and Hardy's covered. the problem would of been AP. But they seem happy to roll with McFadden and the kid who's just had all his charges dropped who's name escapes me. Hate to admit it but Dallas have made some super shrewd moves this off season. And if one team can carry the criticism, it's the Cowboys. Hail.
Morrison J
At least we can rely on Darren McFadden to run straight into him...missed more lanes than Trent Richardson last season
Baylor Alum
La'el Collins is not a "character risk." He is an innocent man who was the victim of an unfortunate circumstance that was not of his doing. He was associated with a murder investigation two days before the draft, so there wasn't enough time for him to clear his name or for teams to fully vet the situation. So none of them could take the chance of drafting him. Now that he has been cleared, there is absolutely no reason for any team to pass on him. And according to Jason LaCanfora, 25 teams were interested in him. Now Hardy and Gregory, they are risks. But Jerry loves risk and does not give a rat's anus about negative publicity. pjfootballer
I chalk it up to him probably growing up in Louisiana and was probably a Cowpuke fan. By the time the Saints were good, he already had invested in the evil empire. Nothing more than going with his favorite team. Paea, Knighton, Ricky and Hatch going to light his ass up. He's clean otherwise and I wish people would stop acting like he's Aaron Hernandez
