Veretax
I'll be honest, I feel both Royster and was it Redd? Are better all around backs than Alfred. Alfred may be the best pure runner we have though. I'd cut Helu frankly. I just don't feel it with Helu. I suspect we keep 5 backs though Morris Young Helu Royster Redd

Koolblue13
I fell asleep at halftime ~Dang Me too. I think Royster is playing a little better than Helu and I'm shocked by that. I want a Rookie and a Roy. I don't really care which. The Roy can play change of pace and DY can handle 3rd down.
Bang
based on limited action, i really don't see how Thompson is ahead of him. Nice hands, decent plays, Positives. Come to think of it, i really don't see Thompson at all. I think he's Bigfoot. Maybe Larry Michael can do a TV show with grainy shadowy footage that might be Thompson, with interviews with people claiming to have seen him. it can't be any worse than that "Coach's Show" last night. ~Bang
kingdaddy
Silas Redd is a good back! He needs to make the team. Royster is also solid and deserves to make it. Helu is set as the #2. So call it: Morris Helu Royster Young Redd Seastrunk to the practice squad. Or, possibly Redd and Seastrunk to the PS...
Bonez3
Man, Lache went from HOF to PS real quick... IMO, last night was a complete wash for the offense outside of KC putting on clinic against 3rd string. Still open comp going into final game
Leonard Washington
Royster has worked on his speed, but still can't break a tackle.
Paul Cumberland
i know bang has a man crush on this guy.. which is fine.. he's entitled like the rest of us to have one.. but let me just post his NFL stats.. 2013 - games 10 - rushing attempts 0, yds 0, avg 0, TD's 0 - recepts 1, yds 6, TD's 0 2012 - games 16 - rushing attempts 16, yds 88, avg 3.8, TD's 2 - recepts 15, yds 109, avg 15.9, TD's 0 2011 - games 6 - rushing attempts 56, yds 328, avg 5.9, TD's 2 - recepts 9, yds 68, avg 7.6, TD's 0 for me, he's not worth keeping based on rookie play this year, but to each their own... http://www.nfl.com/player/evanroyster/2495220/profile

So call it: Morris Helu Royster Young Redd Seastrunk to the practice squad. Or, possibly Redd and Seastrunk to the PS... I agree, would love to see Redd make the squad. He's a tough runner with incredible vision and balance. His quick feet and lateral mobility is very impressive.
Brokenstriker
I wasn't able to watch the game - work. Checked the stats though. Looks like a dreadful preseason rotten fish in general according the the box score. Stats-wize there's not much to work with other than to note that on 2 of Helu's 7 carries he lost yardage ... not surprising at all expect at 28% its kinda high even for him ... of course its a small sample. But hey ... he's fast and he's got great style. How did Royster get a KO return? Was he the return guy or was he the escort and just happened to get the ball? also an insider note ... this is the first time we've seen Royster play in a Redskins jersey when he hasn't been nursing an injury ... looks faster and shiftier
TSO
Royster is the guy who can get you the correct amount of yards on a well-blocked run play EVERY TIME. He has great vision and very quick feet. But he can create nothing himself. He's not going to make guys miss and he's constantly running in 3rd gear. He doesn't have a significant burst of acceleration, either. I don't know. If we feel our Oline is great at run blocking, and they should be at this point, then Royster is a nice option to have since he'll find the right holes and maneuver himself into positive gains more consistently than any of our other backs. But he's simply not going to put fear into a defense. And he has shown that he's not exactly injury-proof. As for the Royster vs. Helu thing going on here, Helu had a move in the first Pats game that Royster simply wouldn't be able to do. He made two guys completely whiff on him in open space after catching a ball by suddenly (and unexpectedly) changing his direction completely and it was pretty sweet. It was on that first drive with the first team offense I believe. That's why the coaches continue to put Helu above Royster, he's simply got a wider variety of moves and can cut more violently. Brokenstriker
hey I get it ... I don't think Helu sucks. I don't think he should be in the running to be the main back though, not when he goes down on contact much of the time and has a career trend to not make it to the line of scrimage on a significant number of carries. I pencil him in as my 3rd down ... or when the first down marker is far far away because he is a different style back, he is faster than NFL average and he can get you big chunks of yards in one bite. When you're willing to put your mortgage payment in the pot he's a decent choice. But there are things he doesn't do well ... he isn't going to slow down a serious pass rusher ... he isn't going to get you must have first down or a TD that's less than 5 yards away unless he runs around the end ... and every DC and LB signal caller knows that. When they put him in the game last year (forgot what game) on 3rd and short goal-line I stood up ... walked to get a cold one muttering without looking and described exactly what happened ... he was tackled short of the line of scrimage ... its just not his thing ... like making 2 guys whiff on a open field run isn't Royster's thing. Can he ... yes he can. Can Helu get that short TD ... yes he can. Can you count on either happening ... not if its important. SO ... back to my issue with all of this ... if Morris isn't available I want Royster taking his place in the offense's game plan. I don't want Helu or any of those other guys ... I expecially don't want Chris Thompson in there. Helu is the best of the others at that role behind Royster ... but he's not that close. I think Helu is also the best of the others in the 'other' back ... 3rd down or what ever you call it. Surprisingly with the exception of receiving ... and perhaps (fingers crossed that is changing) Morris is as good as Helu is at getting the big chunks of yards and has longer runs from scrimmage than Helu and at the same time half as likely to lost yards when you get him the ball as the runner ... and short resume or not Royster is far and away the best at getting to and over the line of scrimmage of any of the backs we have. Face it ... none of them are perfect ... I'd just like to see at decent move the chains back on the roster behind Morris ... and I don't want that to be Helu or any of the others. I think Royster ought to be the clear choice ... my concern is can't tell if Gruden understands how miserable it will be if Morris is dinged and his backup list doesn't have Royster's name on it. Always moving forward... Helu made a nice run, got a good hole, hit it fast and made a real nice gain. Nothing to take away from him there at all. that was a quality play, regardless of how big the hole was. Big hole is nothing if you can't get through it and he did with a full head of steam. But again, my thinking is it's down to the last slot, Royster and Thompson... i can't see how Thompson can make it based on zero production. I know that if called upon Royster will play. he won't be exciting and he won't light up the trade tables... but he'll play and he'll play hard. Thompson.. any confidence he'll even show up? I have a buck that says he won't play Thursday either. ~Bang
TK
Seastrunk been getting yelled at to much in practice for hands & pass pro. Practice squad for him. Morris Helu Royster That's your order right now. Redd could end up on the PS as well or simply cut. Or he could push Royster off the roster on Thursdsy night. Doubt that happens though.
