I don't even particularly like boxing but Raging Bull is widely known as his best film, but I guess it depends on who you're talking to.

I'm dying for Scorcese to pick up the pace on The Irishman... Going to be Pesci, Pacino, De Niro, and the whole gang back together again. Looks like it's going to be released around 2015 as of now, though.

Surprised to not see Heat on this list... bad ass movie!

Heat was an instant classic and doesn't look a day old above when it was released in '97.  Absolutely amazing how much you come to appreciate a Michael Mann film.

I also liked Deniro in The Fan with Wesley Snipes... really dove in the conceptual dillema of today's modern fan.

I voted Raging Bull, he pretty much became Jake La Motta in that film.  It's hard to pick a second one.  Goodfellas is always a popular choice but I never thought of that as a DeNiro film, just a great gang movie he happened to be in.  Liotta and Pesci have more memorable characters.

Ultimately, I picked A Bronx Tale, which I think he did an incredible job on, as a father trying to save his son from the local mob boss.  I feel like that movie always gets overlooked when his other gang movies are talked about.  Also, Chazz Palminteri was very good, and I saw the one man stage play version, so I have a soft spot for it.

One last note...I love Casino, but the constant voiceovers ruin the film for me a little bit.

I think DeNiro is absolutely integral to Goodfellas.  He's not "just there" after all he orchestrated the Lufthansa Heist.  Plus the scene where he goes off on Johnny Roastbeef is just awesome.

Don't misinterpret what I mean by "he happened to be in it."  I agree his character is integral, what I meant is I don't think of Goodfellas as "a Robert Deniro film" the way I do about Taxi Driver or Raging Bull.  The first two people I think of are Pesci and Liotta, in that order. He's still great in the movie, I just don't think of it as his movie.

My favorite movie of all time isn't exactly "a movie"....it's the first half of the Godfather Epic, something that was only released on VHS. It's the first 2 Godfather movies with all the edited out scenes put back in and the film is put in chronological order. There's at least a half hour of DeNiro as young Vito scenes added that you don't see in GF2. Incredible stuff.

For the other one, I had to go with Goodfellas, but lots of gems on this list. Cape Fear sucked, though. I'd put Heat or Ronin on the list way before that awful remake.

Forgot about Ronin as well

If we are going favorite movies with DeNiro then it is The Godfather Part II far and away as number 1.

Then I would say Heat.

Also, Meet the Parents is one of my top 5 favorite comedies so I have to mention that in some regard.

For his top 2 acting performances? Raging Bull and Taxi Driver. I only knock The Godfather Part II because he was basically just playing Marlon Brando's Vito. While he did a masterful job with it, it clearly couldn't be his own character.

I've always felt Goodfellas was overrated. It's a great mobster movie no doubt but it just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's because of how much I dislike Liotta. Oh well.

Hard to pick from the list.

IMO, Godfather Part II is practically a flawless movie. DeNiro is absolutely enthralling in the scenes of the young Vito.

I picked A Bronx tale for the second, because it's an outstanding movie for one, and he plays completely against type.

Most guys who play the heavy in movies can't take a backseat to another guy playing the heavy. Deniro enhances Palmentierri's performance in that movie by his quiet demeanor.
