CRobi21
This is interesting. I thought from what we heard yesterday, we did contact GanoRedskins @Redskins Shanahan says the team did not contact former #Redskins K G. Gano during yesterday's search. Hopes Kai Forbath is here for next 15 yrs. Everything I heard confirms what Shanny said. Never even contacted Gano.
TheDane
Way deep down, my inner nerd rejoices that we have signed a real, live Klingon. KAI FOR'BATH! ISH KLAH BAT'LETH! <translation: wide right>
GO HAMSKINS
Your post makes zero sense. Greg Zuerlein hadn't kicked in the NFL 'til this year, and he's the best kicker in the league right now. If Forbath is the best available kicker, then he's the guy we needed to sign. I'd rather sign a rookie kicker with huge upside than an 'experienced' kicker off the street who can't kick anymore. Makes no sense intill next week after he misses the same kicks that BC missed..LOL This is DC, There is way too much pressure in this city for some guy who has never kicked in a single NFL game to start learning how to now. Time will tell, but considering the fact that I know this town when it comes to sports like the back of my hand..Remember after the first game people thought Cundiff was the next Chip Lo,but now he's gone. Once this guy misses a kick that he should make he's done!! Mock my word!! What we should've done was sign Gano back.IMO

I_Bleed_B&G
I'm interested to hear how he is doing on kick-offs. From what I understand, he didn't do it in college and maybe high school
KingGibbs
So glad that we got rid of Cunmiss, but I've learned not to assume the next kicker will be "The One." We all want Kai to be that guy. Let's hope he is.
John224
If he does get another shot he will become the greatest kicker the NFL has ever known with another team.
bowhunter
[/color]This guy will be cut after two games played ...He has never played or kick in a NFL game in his career..lol Too much pressure for him to start trying now in DC And the Griffin kid had never taken an NFL snap either. I guess I better hurry to add Grossman to my FF team roster. I'm surprised Griffin has made it this long without getting cut
SkinsCrushCowboys
I'm interested to hear how he is doing on kick-offs. From what I understand, he didn't do it in college and maybe high school I wonder about that as well. FYI...Asked Tandler..my concern would be the possibly injury if not used tod doing it. He spend last season on IR for a leg type injury. I guess if all else fails we could do what we always do...Have Lorenze Alexander do it. Rich Tandler @Rich_TandlerCSN @Lifelongskinfan He did not, UCLA had a kickoff specialist

Catatonic
The way our luck is, it's more likely that he becomes Kai HotBarf than Cobra Kai.
RichmondRedskin88
Hmm. I don't think Shanny would want a kicker and kickoff specialist so I assume he has enough faith in this guy to do both.
Fat Stupid Loser
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this kid has an accurate leg cannon. If he did, why would he be available?
bowhunter
Anyone know if Sav can consistently boot it into the endzone? We may not need to take another spot for kickoff specialist if that person is already on our team. Of course I'm posting this not knowing yet what Kai can do. ---------- Post added October-11th-2012 at 12:38 PM ---------- If he did, why would he be available? Sometimes the second best on a team may still be top ten talent. Why did Steve Young have to sit on the bench?
RichmondRedskin88
If he did, why would he be available? Shawn Suisham, David Akers, Adam V, and 13+ other kickers would like to have words with you.
GO HAMSKINS
Now you're just asking for it. LOL, If I'am wrong about this, great! I wouldn't mind one bit. I hope you're right! I hope he turns out to be a great kicker, but I just don't see it happening dude
Jericho
Hmm. I don't think Shanny would want a kicker and kickoff specialist so I assume he has enough faith in this guy to do both. The kickoff specialist would have been Cundiff, since he's arguably the best at kickoffs in the league. So the plan definitely seems to be to role with Kai (for now)
KDawg
Any updates on how well he's doing in practice avoiding Danny Smith? Just saw this article posted: ASHBURN, Va. - As Kai Forbath, former UCLA kicker, took the field at Redskin Park Thursday there was an eerie feeling that loomed. The fourteenth kicker signed by the club in the last thirteen years was surrounded by the same aura as the rest of the lot. It was a feeling of hope, or perhaps, hopelessness. Forbath has the unenviable job of attempted to reverse the "curse" that many locals around here believe has existed since 1999. The general vibe in the local area is that it didn't matter which of the three kickers that the Redskins brought in for a tryout were signed. Whether it was Josh Brown, Olindo Mare, or Kai Forbath, each of them would have to contend with Special Teams Coach Danny Smith. "It's execution, man. It's execution," said Special Teams captain Lorenzo Alexander. Alexander has been a Redskins Special Teams standout for several years now, and has a close relationship with Smith. "Everyone says [Danny] is responsible for all of this. But it starts and ends with us. He can't get on the field and block people. We need to be held accountable as players." And while that is true, Coach Mike Shanahan didn't necessarily believe that to be the case. "We've gone ahead and hired a guy to work with Kai on escape and evade techniques." A follow up was asked if he meant in regards to escaping pressure on field goal attempts, and Shanahan further refined his answer, "No. Not at all. We hired the guy to keep him away from [smith]." Shocking words from the head coach, but it was much easier to wrap your head around those words when I saw Kai execute a double backflip somersault manuever to evade Smith as he approached him in practice. GO HAMSKINS
You must work in HR.http://i.qkme.me/4y4v.jpg Maybe you should check my post history.Compared to the rest of ES,I'am somthing like a profit on here. I was taking the same heat on here about the Cundiff situation. After the Bucs game I told everyone that this is DC, He will never be able to come back from the 3 FG's that he missed in the Buc gm. Some argued that " No he made the GW FG" So he is going to be good for the rest of the year. SMH, When you are a DIE hard fan like me, you can kinda predict how situations will play out with this team, in this city! Gano was and is the answer for now, This dude will do just like BC! He will have a great debut in a win against MInn,Then ES fans will praise him. "We have found our new kicker" Then in a game when he misses that first one that he should make its over for dude.Smh I dont see how SOME fans can watch this team every single year, and still be naive to what are good/bad moves for this team? Will you be 100% correct? No,but most of the time you'll be correct just my opinion on the situation
