MattFancy
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/28/nfl-season-will-kick-off-on-wednesday-night/ The Giants will host the season opener on Wednesday, September 5. The game was moved a day earlier than usual in order to avoid President Barack Obama’s Thursday speech at the Democratic National Convention. Interesting that its on a Wednesday. KingGibbs
That's BS. They should've pushed Obama's speech back. Don't they realize that we Americnas have our priorities?

mmzznnxx
why.....it just means one less day that we will have to wait to watch football again. whats the diffference if its on wednesday night or thursday night? Yeah but it's so unorthodox. There's usually a game or two on Saturdays, Sunday/Monday games, they're reportedly trying to start Thursday Night Football in like early October, and now there's this random Wednesday. I know it sounds pretty pedantic but I like that football has a just a few days that are designated as "football days". It just seems unnecessary. 88Comrade2000
No big deal. The season starts one day early. Thursday night football is weeks 2-15. The DNC has been scheduled for 2 years I think. The last day of the convention if when the nominee gives his speech; pretty important.

Redskins Life
Whatever happened to separation of church and state? Football is a religion in this country now. It should not be interfered with or affected by political nonsense! I feel a slight bit better now. :pfft:

How so? doesn't matter who's giving the speech..its just blah blah blah, lies, lies lies, empty promises empty promises empty promises. Oh and lets not forget the constant breaks for meaningless applause.
pjfootballer
It'll be Dallas .. we've opened at home once since 2003. Being a rival will only add ratings .. it'll be Dallas Green Bay. Son of Gadsden
It'll be Dallas .. we've opened at home once since 2003. Being a rival will only add ratings .. it'll be Dallas My money says it's either Packers or Eagles. Didn't they open with Packers Saints last year? And the Giants Eagles rivalry is starting to build like the Skins Cowboys rivalry. They are the two fighting for the top spot more than the Skins Cowboys....even though everyone else in the div has 3 rings except the Eagles...and the Eagles were not in contention last year...tell the media that. DeMarco Murray 29
Fair point. Plus, if I am not mistaken both of the Dallas/NY games were NBC Prime time games. So it's not like they shared the game with Fox last season. I think it's logical to say though, it's going to be Dallas, Green Bay or Philly. A dark horse team could be Pittsburgh. Tom [Giants fan]
Green Bay. Both are division winners and the last 2 SB teams usually meet, and the Giants are scheduled to host Green Bay. You may be correct. Green Bay has been mentioned as the favorites to start the season with the Giants.
CrypticVillain
I think it should be Philly. If it was one team that I would have considered hotter than the Giants at the end of the season, it is them. After that Seahawk debacle, they were laying the hurt on teams. TD_washingtonredskins
I know it sounds pretty pedantic but I like that football has a just a few days that are designated as "football days". It just seems unnecessary. Even before this introduction of a one-time Wednesday game, pro football is a regular occurrence on 4 of the 7 days of the week. So, the idea that there are just a couple "football days" is a little off. After Thanksgiving, we generally have an NFL game on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Saturday of each week.
