Going Commando
Michael Carter Williams just had a Wall-like debut. He absolutely killed the Heat. Wouldn't it be crazy if he was way better than they thought and kept them from tanking?

Skin'emAlive
Gortat looks promising, thats for sure. He needs to be on the floor as a starter next game. Booker and Nene on the court at the same time can never happen again.

Skin'emAlive
Holy hell. Dwight had a 17 and 26 game tonight? And Asik had 14 boards of his own on top of that? Can we have some please? Edited October 31, 2013 by Skin'emAlive
LetMeSeeYourWarFace21
Question, knowing what you know now, in the 2010 draft do you take John Wall or Greg Monroe as the #1 pick??? I think I'd take Monroe. Some people on another website got pissed at me for that LMAO......Im sorry, and I know this is WAAAY to early to be criticizing, but Wall still has not developed a DECENT jumper. Dude is just a super fast PG who can make lay-ups. I do think he is a VERY good defender though....

I bet Detroit is going to wait until this summer to see if they can match him for less than a max deal. We should offer him a max contract to either force Detroit to pay him a max deal or, hopefully, get him ourselves.

Favors will probably end up being 5. Larry Sanders enters into the picture somewhere in the top 8. Gordon Hayward is probably in there too. Then you get to Eric Bledsoe, Evan Turner, and Avery Bradley, maybe in that order. Then Patrick Patterson and Ed Davis IMO. It was a pretty incredible big man class. The issues with Monroe have been defense and shooting efficiency. He had a rough season last year and shot the ball really poorly. He's skilled, but sometimes that can work against him as he tries some bad stuff. He's got a big body and offers a presence inside, and he's a terrific rebounder. But that's about all that's positive with his D. You saw him offering Wall free run to the basket tonight in the fourth quarter after Drummond left with foul trouble. He gives poor effort and he doesn't move his feet. My guess is that's why Detroit wasn't in a hurry to extend him. Holy hell. Dwight had a 17 and 26 game tonight? And Asik had 14 boards of his own on top of that? Can we have some please? I hope Ariza keeps playing like he did tonight to increase his trade value. Wouldn't mind seeing an Ariza for Asik deal. Maybe even get a little more out of Houston. Nene + Gortat + Asik would be good. Turn a big weakness into a strength.
Destino
Wall didn't earn his max money tonight. He defined volume scoring in this game and often look like he was pressing. More than anything though, like I said before, Wittmans offense is crap. He's been giving the guards a permanent green light since he's been the head coach and that has to stop. The bigs can't be involved in the game plan entirely by accident or only on pick and pops. This team is handcuffed by the absurdly bad head coach. Also I get that Wittman hates Ves but 6'8 Booker on Monroe was ridiculous. He got abused. Edited October 31, 2013 by Destino

JoeWolf990
awful, awful defensive performance. Poor offensive performance as well. Gortat and Ariza played well. Was happy with Wall's running the point, but he was terrible scoring. Beal? Less said the better and the defense was diabolical from everyone. Thats where we will miss Okafor. Warhead36
I like the potential of a Wall-Beal-Ariza(or Webster)-Nene-Gortat starting lineup. The problem is our bench then pretty much sucks other than whoever isn't the starting 3. We scored over 100. The D will be better than what they showed in most games. 100 will usually be enough for us to win.
the burgundy and gold
If anything this game just reemphasized to me how bad of a coach Randy is. Needed more from Wall early in the game. I expect Beal to have mediocre games from time to time, he is still young and developing. We need to have Wall consistently great every game. Nene also frustrated me tonight, he dropped multiple passes in the lane that could have turned into points. Is Gortat known for being a big fouler? 5 in like 15 minutes isn't going to cut it. Also pretty confused on Seraphin's lack of minutes, I'd rather see him play more than Booker personally. The refs also sucked tonight. Ariza & the rest of our garbage won't be nearly enough to get Asik. Asik would cost more than Gortat. You're overestimating Asik's value IMO. He's not as good a player as Gortat. Gortat is a legitimately good and skilled offensive player whereas Asik is just a low usage 5th option type, good for catching the ball at the basket and finishing. He's a defense and rebounding specialist. Trading Beal for Asik would be a crazy overpayment. And whatever BS they're shoveling in public, Houston is going to want to deal both Asik and Lin. They need to in order to get a third big contract, and those two are scheduled to make 15 million each next season. They aren't going to want to pay that. Who would? Asik isn't a great fit playing beside Dwight, and Asik himself said this. He wants a big role. It all adds up to Houston dealing him by this summer, probably before the deadline. They can be somewhat picky about what they get in return since Asik is a good player. But not that picky.

Also I get that Wittman hates Ves but 6'8 Booker on Monroe was ridiculous. He got abused. Wall settled in and scored with creativity and efficiency after that rough start. By the end of the game, he was very effective. But I agree that the offense did far too much settling for jumpers from the perimeter players in the first half. Didn't get the ball inside, and didn't really seem interested in trying to. Didn't help that the refs weren't calling anything on Detroit at the beginning of the game. Our #1 goal after the tip needed to be get Drummond in foul trouble but instead we hung around the perimeter and let the kid run wild on us, setting a physical tone for the game we spent the whole night chasing. And yeah, Booker got his ass handed to him and Wittman was waaay to slow to react to this. Wittman definitely should have done a better job managing his timeouts too. The job is just too big for Wittman. He's always a step behind where he needs to be. We go into almost every game with a coaching disadvantage. As this team comes into its own, we're need a better coach. We don't need a Del Negro.

Rocky21
Defense played like complete ass tonight and that's the main reason we lost. Exactly. Also gonna have to agree with you on Gortat. He getting boards and setting screens. Easily our best rebounder at this point. Once he gets indoctrinated into the tean and Wittman gets the rotations down I think we'll be fine. (Also I hope this was just one bad night for Beal and not indicitive of his season.)

RonArtest15
My biggest concern (moreso than Wittman, Wall, etc.) was how awful Nene looked. If you can't get up for the first game of the year, then what's the point? He was playing scared/soft. Speaking of last night...is there a better front court in the NBA than what the Pistons have? My goodness. Elite skill and athleticism all around.

Sometimes, he has the worst contract in basketball. I like Asik. I think he's a high quality role player. He's one of the better defense and rebounding bigs in the league and he's a big body. My issue is with the fans who think he's more than that. You have no idea how many times I've read that he's one of the best bigs in the league over on RealGM. They don't watch the games but see high field goal % and think that means great offensive player. His cap hit is a little high, but it could be worse. His real salary is atrocious but only 8 million counts against the cap next season. I wouldn't care if Ted wanted to spend his money since it doesn't count against the cap. I like him for us still, he was my second choice for a deal after Gortat. I think we could still use him here for ~ 30 minutes a night. He'd put Al Harrington and Booker on the bench. He'd be a huge upgrade over Kevin Seraphin.
RonArtest15
Welp, that didn't take long... Nene injury: Wizards' center hurts calf in loss to Pistons Dude is as soft as some baby poo. My goodness. Elite skill and athleticism all around. Yeah they're pretty dominant. Memphis is probably the best though. Drummond is what you'd expect for a super raw 20 year old big. He's going to take himself out of games from fouls for the next few years and he can't create his own offense. Still an impactful physical presence no matter what. Smith looked good for most of the night. Showed nice passing ability and meshed well with Drummond. He will always make dumbass plays but he's generally positive. But I wonder if Monroe doesn't play better when Drummond is out of the game and he gets to play the 5. Last year Monroe didn't play well with Drummond, and last night he seemed to come alive and dominate the game when Drummond went out. I think it makes sense to set the minutes up so that Smith plays mostly PF and you're swapping Monroe and Drummond at C and keep one of them in the game at all times. Exactly. Also gonna have to agree with you on Gortat. He getting boards and setting screens. Easily our best rebounder at this point. Once he gets indoctrinated into the tean and Wittman gets the rotations down I think we'll be fine. (Also I hope this was just one bad night for Beal and not indicitive of his season.) Beal will bounce back. He was a stud in preseason and he just needs to get himself into the flow of things. As absent as he was, Beal's jumper was still there last night. That's encouraging. He still scored 17 points just making his shots. Randy needs to manage his minutes better than he did last night, he left him sitting on the bench far too long.
