A man was arrested late Monday night in connection with the failed Times Square bombing, administration officials said. The suspect, Faisal Shahzad, a 30-year-old U.S. citizen from Pakistan, allegedly purchased the sport utility vehicle that authorities found packed with explosives in New York on Saturday night. Authorities became aware of his identity Monday afternoon. He was arrested just after 11 p.m. by Customs and Border Protection agents at JFK International Airport. Shahzad's flight to Dubai had left the gate and was headed toward the runway when authorities discovered that he was on board and wanted. He was removed from the plane and taken into custody, an official said.
Nearly slipped through. Big props to the anti-terror task force. I don't care how close he was to taking off, big props to those guys.

Doesn't sound like a white middle age Tea party member. Wonder if the Media will apologize for their false accusations, that was clearly based on nothing more than their own hatred towards people with brains.

Media apology?/ LOL That will never happen. They'll apologies to the terrorists before they'll apologize to any besmirched by their dogmatic narratives.

Pakistani tea party member then.
They do drink lots of tea in Pakistan. Coincidence?

The Terrorists are 0 for 2 now since December, only because their bombs failed to go off correctly. Anti-Terror is doing their jobs, I am sure, but they had nothing to do with stopping the underwear bomber or this case.

Thank god for their incompetence...

Awesome. So we got through two posts in a thread that SHOULD be about congrats to our intelligence services and thankfulness that this didn't turn out much worse (it easily could have) before we get our first partisan whining? Congrats man. You're a great American.

For what it's worth, the media reported what was shared with them, to wit, that a approx 40 yr old white dude was a "person of interest." I never heard any speculation about tea partiers in media. But why is that important right now? Oh yeah, it's not. Take a lesson from Fergasun.

It's closer to 0 for 15 since 9/11.

I have no way of backing this number up, as I simply "pulled it outta my ass". :D

I'm with Bliz in

It is interesting how some can take excellent news like this and turn it into a whine about how the media that they hate and distrust hurt their feelings.

Get over yourselves for five minutes.

Catching this guy was a great piece of police work, and the people behind the investigation need to be commended for their action.

Remain vigilant is the lesson learned. As we all see, it's way to easy to do this sort of thing, and there's nothing that can be done about that without totally locking into a police-state mentality. So while the internal sniping continues, let us never forget that we're ALL at war, whether we want to be or not.

As ARedskin pointed out a few posts above, we've been lucky.

Unfortunately in fighting this kind of enemy we have to rely on luck a lot, so keep your fingers crossed and your eyes open.

john, no one is discrediting the efforts of our intelligence services. they are doing a great job.

the problem is with the media and how they were sure it was a 40ish white male. just like jlc is always sure about his news with the redskins.

there's your five minutes.

The problem there is that is who was on that video slice they gave us to look out for. Just 24 hours ago, I might add.

I mean really, to complain about it is childish. Investigations go like that, there's a million wrong turns and one right one. In cases like this we're privy to the wrong turns because the manhunt is so vast and so urgent.

Whether or not the heads then speculate is no different on any channel anywhere ever. They're just filling up time.

See it for what it is, and enough with the constant persecution complex.

Just like they do when they make all their other mistakes?

Or does it only matter when whitey is accused.

Yeah they definitely deserve praise for this. I heard on CNN this morning that the plan had actually just pulled away from the gate when they got on board to catch the guy. So if they were a minute or two late, he would be gone by now. I hope this guy gets what he deserves!

Say they discovered he was on that plane 7 hours into that flight. Do you think they send F22s to escort that plane back to the US? Flight marshall would've probably taken him into custody.

I was awake around 3:00 this morning (damn insomnia), and I believe I heard CNN make the statement that his flight was originally supposed to leave several hours prior, however the Feds or whomever, notified the airport to hold the flight, and they delayed it 2 or 3 times while they confirmed that he was the person they were looking for and that he was on the flight. Then I guess they boarded the plane and drug his ass off.

From what I gather he was identified in time simply since he recently became naturalized.

Better monitoring and immigration control(pic, prints in the national database system) is a good thing.

I would say more data mining and wiretapping as well, but some seem to object;)

I wish we would pack these failed bombers into missiles and fire thiem into AQ complexes.

This would satisfy all. The guy actually gets to blow up and we get to kills some baddies by using them as weapons!

The media didn't just make it up out of whole cloth. That guy was in fact a person of interest to the investigation. The only person of interest. So of course it was big news.

I believe he still is a person of interest. Unless I'm missing something, there has been no conclusion that this was a "lone wolf" operation. Maybe that guy was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe he was actually a part of it. I assume they're still interested in identifying him and talking to him. If it was your call, isn't that what you would be doing?

It's a good thing you're so much smarter and more well-informed than all those idiots in the FBI. Why they were even interested in this guy is beyond me. They should have just called up ole' BB.

"He was just changing shirts. No big deal."

"Yes sir, Mr. BB. We will immediately cease our investigation."
