KDawg
Be advised, when this is all done, I'm going to create another post with the actual team in it as well. With stats/bio type stuff. This is a ton of work, but whatever NEW AS OF MAY 24, 2010 The depth chart will be set by a totally different vote. Top vote getters will not necessarily be the starters. It may, and probably will wind up that way anyways, but setting our own depth chart may be a bit more fun. THE ALL TIME ES WASHINGTON REDSKINS!!! Quarterback 1) Sammy Baugh 2) Sonny Jurgensen 3) Joe Theismann Runningback John Riggins Clinton Portis Larry Brown Cliff Battles Fullback 1) Mike Sellers Wide Receiver Art Monk Gary Clark Charley Taylor Bobby Mitchell Ricky Sanders Tight End 1) Jerry Smith 2) Don Warren 3) Chris Cooley Offensive Tackle Joe Jacoby Chris Samuels Jim Lachey Turk Edwards Offensive Guard Russ Grimm Mark May Raleigh McKenzie Dick Stanfel Center 1) Len Hauss 2) Jeff Bostic Defensive Tackle Dave Butz Darryl Grant Diron Talbert Cornelius Griffin Defensive End 1) Charles Mann 1) Dexter Manley 2) Gene Brito Linebackers London Fletcher Chris Hanburger Monte Coleman Ken Harvey Sam Huff Wilber Marshall LaVar Arrington Cornerback Darrell Green Champ Bailey Sammy Baugh Pat Fischer Mike Bass Safety Sean Taylor Ken Houston Paul Krause Brig Ownes Kicker 1) Mark Moseley 2) Chip Lohmiller Punter 1) Sammy Baugh Long Snapper 1) Ethan Albright Return Men 1) Brian Mitchell 2) Mike Nelms Well, we're all here, down in the dumps because our season and our team have taken a beating this year. Instead of continuing to drag ourselves (and the players, coaches and front office) into a depression, I figured it might be worth our effort to do something a bit more fun and entertaining (at least it would be fun and entertaining to me) and something that can help us relive the good days. In the next few weeks (if this takes off) I plan on doing a series of voting threads where the ES population votes for players at each position to make our very own ES 53 man All-Time Redskin Roster team. Sure, it's probably easy to figure out who a lot of the players are going to be, but I can think of a few players who may surprise An example of a voting thread would be something like: "ES 53 MAN ROSTER: QUARTERBACK" Inside the thread would be something like a list of names and "CHOOSE 3". This post will be kept up to date with each position as we finish up. Our roster breakdown would be as follows: QB (3) RB (3) FB (1) WR (5) TE (3) OT (4) OG (4) C (2) DT (4) DE (4) LB (6) CB (5) S (4) K (1) P (1) LS (1) RETURN MAN (2) OFFENSE: (25) DEFENSE: (23) SPECIAL TEAMS: (5) This thread can also double as a nomination thread, although I won't use all of them. I will compile a list using stats and the Redskins Encyclopedia. This is for fun. If you don't like the idea, definitely let me know before I waste time with this little venture. But otherwise, this could be interesting Top Vote Getters to NOT make the Regular Roster and could be included in any Wild Card voting, will take the top 10 for a re-vote Stephen Davis, RB (76) Earnest Byner, RB (75) LaVar Arrington, LB (57) Santana Moss, WR (55) Mark Rypien, QB (55) Doug Williams, QB (43) Larry Centers, FB (36) Cliff Battles, RB (34) Chip Lohmiller, K (28) Terry Allen, RB (28) Andy Farkas, FB (27) Joe Washington, RB (22) Doc Walker, TE (21) Shaun Suisham, K (20)

scruffylookin
Any other suggestions before I get the ball rolling? Not a suggestion but rather a question, will you allow a player to be voted in at two positions? I ask because when you stated you were going to start with LS I thought that I'd vote for Jeff Bostic but then thought he might get some consideration at center too. Same for PR. You know some people will want to vote Darrell Green and we all know he's going to be voted in at corner. Just wondering.

Sure, and if that's the case what we'll do is expand some of the other positions roster spots in order to get to a 53 man roster.
stwasm
If you'd like, I can give you a full starting roster and special teams, dating all the way back to 1937, the Skins' first year in DC.
ttr77
Wait...I'm confused. When I was reading this forum in August, I thought the 2009 roster was set to be the all-time best at each position. Did something change? Ah...just kidding. Great idea!
KDawg
Not gonna lie... I'm having problems finding a listing of our long snappers. I know of Bostic and Albright off the top of my head... Any help would be appreciated there

I know of Bostic and Albright off the top of my head... Any help would be appreciated there Dan Turk I think Trevor Mattich was our long snapper for a few seasons in the 90's. Let's be honest, nobody is going to vote for anyone other than Bostic or Albright. I don't think you should kill yourself trying to hunt down who was our long snapper during the 1950's. Albright has done a great job since 2001 and is the only guy to go to a pro bowl as a snapper, good enough for me. He gets my vote.

Dan T.
Ted Fritsch was a good long snapper for the Redskins for a couple of years. Then he freakishly lost it. All of a sudden every snap was like 4 feet over the punter's head. It was bizarre. The Redskins had no choice but to replace him.
KDawg
The ES 53 Man Roster is off to a good start. Punter and Long Snapper threads are both opened for voting. The threads close in 3 days time. At that point in time, I'll be adding two more positions for voting. I will update this post with our punter and long snapper "winners" once the tallies are official
KDawg
Next step is two return men. I will be including both kick and punt returners. Two will make the team. We can have 2 kick returners... We can have 2 punt returners... Or we can have one of each. It's whatever we vote for.
