JimmiJo
Vinny Cerrato just came in and confirmed that the Redskins have traded for Jason Taylor. The team traded their 2009 2nd-round pick and 2010 6th-round pick. "We're fortunate a guy of that caliber was on the market," Cerrato said. http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=36797Redskins Obtain Taylor In Trade With Miami By Gary Fitzgerald Redskins.com July 20, 2008 The Redskins have acquired Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor in a trade with the Miami Dolphins. In exchange for Taylor, the Redskins sent a 2009 second-round pick and a 2010 sixth-round pick to the Dolphins. Taylor was most recently a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars," the popular television dance show on ABC. Taylor, a Pittsburgh native, turns 34 on Sept. 1. He has spent his entire 12-year NFL career with the Dolphins. For his career, Taylor has 453 tackles, 117 sacks and seven interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns. Taylor was named the Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 when he had 60 tackles, 13.5 sacks and two interceptions. The Redskins were in the market for a defensive end when the team lost Phillip Daniels to a knee ligament injury and Alex Buzbee to a ruptured Achilles on the first day of training camp. Califan007 The Constipated
So much for "We haven't talked to anyone yet" :applause: *Edit: AND a 6th rounder in 2010?...Eh, guess I can deal with that. REALLY wanted it to ONLY be a 3rd in 2009 at most, though.

CRobi21
Ehhhhhhhhhhhh. Didn't know about the additional 6th round pick. We've been pretty good with trading back for more late round picks though. I think it's a good deal. Taylor is still a very good player.

True...if Vinny does in 2010 what he did in 2008, we'll recoup that 6th round pick easily.
SkinsTerps26
this is fine, this helps the redskins. It also puts us under the magnifying glass, b/c everyone will be talking about this trade and the D lines performance all year
StillUnknown
i'm not mad at this deal, a 2nd & a 6th isn't too bad. this drastically improves our defense though.

redskns21
I really wanted it to be a 3rd round pick, but I guess a 2nd and 6th isn't too bad provided we trade down next year and Taylor plays for at least 2 more years. We had to do something.

BigRedskinDaddy
NICE. Much love to the freaking oft-maligned FO on this one. The Dan still hasn't figured out how to lock his wallet, only nowadays it seems like the FAs are much more logical, ie, they can contribute significantly. Keep it up brass!! EDIT: I know this was a trade, fellas. I was speaking in generalities above. IMO it was a good deal even with the 6th round pick tossed in. JT can have a HUGE impact this season and beyond. xX2PORTIS6Xx
Ok he dances nice. The question, is he in shape?Oh belive me Dude will be in shape.2 years removed from being Defensive Player of the Year.Had a down year last year and still came away with more sacks than AC. Oldskool
So our two starting DE's had a combined 21.5 sacks last year. And Taylor played on a defense that was ranked 23rd overall versus our 8th. So far, I'm not too upset at this deal.
awolfinwater
I guess this proves that our FO hasn't learned too much after all. Considering the negotiating postion that we were in, I think it is a fair deal. Miami knew we were backed in a corner with no depth at DE. I am hoping he decides to stick around for more than a year.
